+xWho rashly knows what’s going on with the NSD. If JJ goes to FIFA let’s hope that doesn’t change the thinking as he has appeared to be a strong supporter of the concept. As for each club, they all have the right to opinions about what’s on the table, but at no point would anyone have considered this an easy or cheap exercise to participate in. It does carry significant risk to clubs given the outlay and unknowns of the financial benefits of being part of it.
One thing is for sure though, each on or off-field incident that occurs that involves one of the ‘ethnic’ clubs will get the spotlight on it in seconds, which also serves to ramp up the risk to the competition. Sad but true.
It is something with a lot of feel good about it, but time will tell if it actually works out. fair summary.... its ALL speculation at the moment...

Seems very obvious that MK have financial issues. They knew the deal very well to join the 2nd tier.

+x+x+xAgreed, Who would EVER believe state or federal money can be given to far right, race war inciting fascists in today's Australia? Or that the ADF is riddled with loonies, trained on the government's dime, wanting to go and fight for the Azov Battalion, another organisation helped both militarily and economically by the Australian taxpayer despite their abhorrent beliefs and history?? Or a bunch of "White Australia" loonies forming a state sanctioned hunting group .... wonder what they "hunt"? Not sure what happens in your country but in this one we believe it is the burden of the accuser to prove guilt and trial by media is frowned upon. (at least in civilised society, wog haters are the exception obviously) https://www.smh.com.au/national/senior-neo-nazi-slips-out-of-australia-hoping-to-fight-russian-army-20230322-p5cudj.html Mate come on. If the local German club had portraits of Hitler and Goebbels in the foyer that'd be pretty grim. Not sure why you're using whataboutism to downplay this. One of the local British clubs had a photo of Churchill on the wall, thats the same thing isn't it? He killed more Aussies and Greeks combined than Hitler ever did.... Anyway, done defending Croatia.... I havent seen any fascist paraphernalia in their social club or stadium, if other hard hitting investigative types have unearthed some sort of conspiracy Im not interested anymore. They are "just a football club founded by immigrants" for me.... thats it for me instead of looking back on and on........ Just sic of the ongoing questions of the past be it this or anything else today without mentioning topics for its a never ending discussion.

+x+x+x+xGood news re U23's, hope this pans out ! as it should. Im sort of the opposite opinion mate... NPL clubs already have U21s..... U23s players should already be in the first team or be loaned/sold out by then..... I have a feeling this is a compromise to placate the state federations from losing their best clubs from the NPL comps but it makes pro/rel almost an impossibility (or at least very confusing) Also, maybe just a way to prevent the need for a Y-league which would save the APL some much needed money they are going to need to keep propping up owner-less franchises. Just to correct you on the Y-League, it will probably be played in line with the a-league season as its to cover for a-league youth players whom are not getting game time in the aleague. However I do find the u23 teams in the NPL as an interesting compromise to avoid pro-rel in the short term at the very least. The Y-league, as a concept, seems to have stalled mate.. The Aleague franchises dont have an appetite for it and now, with some experiencing financial difficulties, its probably dead in the water.... I'm not fussed about the y league is there evidence it does better than having a 2nd team in lower mens divisions? Both of course would be even better, but travel is expensive in Australia. A u23 side for nst teams seems a positive thing

+xEven if the process was free and took only five minutes to fill out a piece of paper, it wouldn't even be with the $1 for a stamp to send the application off for them to apply. There is no chance they are in. LOL. saved for future reference.

There is no chance they are in. Thats an opinion mate, not fact...... Not saying you are right or wrong, but they have a better chance than most. Yes, I agree its opinion - but it's the opinion of a lot of people in football admin. I'd wager that even MK know they are no chance now. TBH, they have one of the best run clubs in Australia and have achieved incredible things - but they wouldve done well to own this problem on one of the many occasions that it has come up (over decades) and deal with it. despite my arguments for them Im not really fussed either way tbh.. I do, however, think the competition will be "poorer" without them.... lets see what comes out in the wash.

+x+xEveryone knows the real reason with the Knights ffs lol Not everyone knows... please explain? Hope this isnt some sort of "effnik" thing again? Especially now that the mainstream media have been cheering on the fact that Australia ethnic diversity has lead to colourful crowds and loud support at the WWC. Well, there's effnik diversity, and there's fascism https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/croatian-sporting-clubs-with-fascist-links-promised-millions-in-public-money-20230712-p5dno8.html

+xit would be damming for the game if it didn't get the green light going from next season. Thankfully it does seem so but we wait and wait............... hearing it could well be the champions league they've been discussing for next season.

U23s players should already be in the first team or be loaned/sold out by then..... That was my thought also. Considering what the expected salary cap will be for the NSD, it's pretty safe to assume 95% of the NSD squads will be players under the age of 23. I was thinking this rumored compromise may also be to accommodate any 'joint' bids who would lose multiple NPL team if they have and NSD team. Your probably right.

According to the way Brisbane United are trying to apply, they get to keep the Strikers NPL team, whilst everyone else loses theirs

+xI'm hearing that clubs will be able to field an U23s team in the NPL similar to what the A-league clubs do with their U21s team. Before this rumour, we were told these clubs would not be allowed to field senior teams in the NPL. The way we are going soon every club will have a second senior team!!!! If it transpires, then this what happens when you release the genie, as with the A-League franchises having second senior teams. This is what happens when you don't stick to better Global standards such as a domestic transfer system. Most AL NPL players should have been released, transferred or loaned out after finishing at U18 or U21 level.
