can't be pissed when a player in his late career makes the call to improve his last chance of income you need to applaud it and Thanks for your service. Cycle of a pro sportsperson good luck to him, getting a better pay check and rubbing shoulders against some classy euro retirees lol..... Hope he gets alot of playing time they'll need his good attacking nouse having 13th of 16 last season. Looks like Al Wehda go through coachs from year to year. MSC's relo Grecko Giorgos Donis back for his 2nd stint as gaffa.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThe entire league is looking incredibly weak this season. Bit like that Covid season when all the local talent came through. I want some good marquees but nothing beats a local story. I respect everyone's opinion but it's killed the excitement for me. I wanna see quality players in the a league. We're left with players who are just a phone call away from leaving to India or Saudi it rubs me the wrong way Your only concern should be Melbourne City, full stop. This happens in leagues all over the world, players move on and new ones pop up.Life goes on. Then we shouldn't worry about TV ratings or attendance anymore. Because you can't expect people to be excited about this league People depart teams / leagues all the time, the show goes on as they say. Evolution i think they call it. Do you really think people in France are saying the same thing after a lot of high profile departures. TBH , my only concern is Sydney FC and it always will. Could not give a monkey's about other clubs. One more thing, you are the first person i have EVER encountered that has brought up the the TV ratings. That indeed makes you quite unique. We have a thread for tv ratings and attendance. The league is in the shitter I just want it to be successful. Stop being a drama Queen, the season has yet to start and you are all doom and gloom. No wonder football in this country is always up against it with negative nellies like yourself. Actually everyone is agreeing with you I'm the minority on this issue

+xExamples like this stare us in the face time and time again yet we constantly drop the ball when it comes to being a "development league" that should sell young players to overseas clubs for large profit. Don't really understand what you're saying? He got sold so we are a development league how did we drop the ball?

+xIt's criminal how a salary cap, ordained by Gallop and co. is still in vogue in the ALeague, restricting players earning capacity, just criminal. Gallop didn't get the job until the competition was well established. It started along with the League. Without the cap, right now, today, which arse do you think Adelaide would pull 2.5M to match that offer?s Hint: As a marquee they can pay him 10M a year if they wish without penalty.

+xThe salary cap removal wont change a thing. The clubs with most money would dominate AL with no cap. Melb City especially 😐

C'est la vie in the world wide football economy.Good luck to Goodwin -he is in in his twilight years as a first class footballer so needs to make hay while the sun shines. The same goes for Cummings going to India .Also Montgomery's proposed move to Hibs-difficult for me as a CCM fan especially with the timing but again an opportunity for him to make his mark in a European league.
Adelaide and CCM will continue as clubs and young players will come through the ranks. If the NSD gets off the ground and functions smoothly more chances for young players and coaches to have a pathway.

+x+xWhy are we moaning about a 31-year-old in the twilight of his career going to get his final paycheck for his family? Where are the next Goodwins? Arguably our best player in the league goes for 1m... how much does the next goodwin go for 100k? lol disgusting to let him leave for that. It is all relative - you got to blame the FA the Salary cap in the AL is 2.6m - Goodwin will be getting paid essentially what the entire AU squad gets..... i agree 800k is peanuts but he is probably got 9mos left on his contract and he is 32 this year what do you expect From season 8 maybe 10 the Cap should of been scrapped it is clear it does WAY more harm then good - without a cap Goodwin probably would of been on a 2-3 year deal on better money - AU could of easily asked for 4-8million this guy scored in the world cup against France - he is no 'spud' he is a technically good, fast player but regardless i wish him well. Until this shit changes no one will ever take the AL seriously it is a semi-pro league imo

+x+xI feel like i say this every 3mos on here - if you revisit my post about the Saudi league becoming a super league MONEY TALKS - EVERYTHING ELSE IS BULLSHIT The SA super league with all the investment being put in it, is probably the best league outside of Europe and South America now and it will only get better. the contact is 3 years 2.5m ie 7.5m 7.5m is enough to set himself up for the remainder of their life (on top of his current wealth) - He also gets a chance to play in a League with Neymar, Ronaldo, Benzema etc - it is a no brainer the 800k fee is the only kicker you would think that AU would of gotten at least >1m for him but the Salary cap hampers clubs ability to get big fees I hope he gets tax residency over there, otherwise the ATO will eat up half of that 7.5 mill or he can do what 'most' rich people do get a few negative geared properties max super contributions or him and his misses pay into a trust.... set his contact up to be paid over multiple financial years opposed to being paid 2.5m a season he might negotiate 1m a season over 7 years with the 8th year paying 500k..... im sure there are 'other' loopholes but that is just at the top of my head people that are 'not' PayG have a lot of ways to reduce taxable income

Saudi is more for the top, end of career cash grab. It's been this way for a decade anyway with other Asian leagues so we should be used to it now.

Adelaide have that much talent coming through that the next ones will be playing. Saudi clubs could put their emblem on every Premier League club, play in England with their squads, it still wouldn't be enough. The crest on the front of the shirt will always be bigger than any name on the back.
