+xThat article is typical ABC ‘soccer’ bashing. Would not really call it soccer bashing. It is a view point that is often played out. Macarthur and the FA tried hard to have the game relocated to a safer neutral location but the Asian Governing Body refused, assuming they considered it safe enough. Huge fines and suspension from the comp was imminent if they didn't participate. So I think it was newsworthy. During the Johnny Warren era the Socceroos were strongly encouraged (if not directed) by the Federal Government to go to play Vietnam and it was done so for political reasons. I can recall Johnny later saying the team could hear bombs going off in the background from the field. There is a strong case for not mixing sport with politics, but it happens.

+xBasically our League is rubbish. That is what these results say and do so every year. What does that make the clubs that just got thumped by the Central Coast and Macarthur in a massive way? And we're in the off season. Charlie..........are you there!

+xThat article is typical ABC ‘soccer’ bashing. It is interesting that there is a capital strike in Australia whereby the property cartel is refusing to build enough houses for our population whilst our government loads a heap of migrants on the country, but there is nary a cry from the media about the increased homelessness and resultant poverty for our less fortunate citizens. As the WEF says, renting by 2030 and happy about it, but don't talk about the corruption and malfeasance that will get us there.

+xAs long as it helps the coefficient then we should get back an ACL spot back in a year or two. This is how it works, you drops points you lose a spot to another country I think the year the teams didn't play in the AFC Champions League in 2021 has costed us crucial points and therefore the coefficient went down further as a result but the years prior the clubs haven't done well in this competition. It's harsh but thats how the system works, thats why the clubs need to take this more seriously because this what happens when they don't. It's Pro/Rel in action at the highest club level in a form. Something to earn and something to lose. Just that it applies across the league rather than to individual clubs in the making. Good to have results from Bulls and Mariners. It helps us to see where we fit in our regional standings and exposes at least a couple of clubs to different conditions. A bit like the Australia Cup in the mix of teams. I haven't watched them play yet, but do you get the feeling our opponents are sort of around the NPL level - some low NPL and some high NPL?

These wins will help our co-efficient for the next ACL and ACC won't they? Good that both the Bulls and Mariners are doing well. Also good to see city topping their group.

Lots of chances missed.could, especially first half. Could have been closer to 15. They need to take a higher percentage of chances in the ALM.

+x+x+xBasically our League is rubbish. That is what these results say and do so every year. our resident con admirer and others say computer says NO. Barca summed it up in another way. Till we finally became Football as a product it should be and focus on our game and BELOW it won't go ahead in leaps and bounds relying/focussing on the "metrics" at the top level. What kind of metrics? Match results? The only kind that matters. In our confederation our clubs fail every year. Of course I wish that wasn't so, but it is,and I find it incredibly disheartening. agreed mate with all your post.

+xMacarthur win 3-0. Horrible studs in raised foot tackle at the end by the opposition and not even a yellow for it. Terrible lack of decision. Good to read this!

If the aleague season started earlier in August, I think the teams will be better prepared for these tournaments.
You can tell the our teams still lack the sharpness from a long pre season and it shows too.
Melb City look like a new team put together with a new midfield 3 and almost a new front 3 and the J2 side had the better chances to score and win. Whilst CCM have chances to win 2 games and conceded an unfortunate own goal in the process so that was unlucky in the end. Play that game again in a few weeks time and the result might be different.
Again i just think the code needs to move away from its inferior complex and not worry about the egg ball codes because it will hold the sport back from reaching its full potential. These codes don’t have this kind of international competition so the sport needs to stop worry about itself. Its very important the clubs do well in Asia and any time it’s doesn’t it’s not a great look especially for our coefficient which takes the hardest hit.

+x+xDamn. Own goal by Nathan Paul. Still, big night for him to learn. I don't want this to be a development tournament though. Got to try and go as far as possible. how old is the lad? +x+x+xIs this game available on the 10 play app on a tv in Australia or does it need to be accessed on a PC or handheld device and casted? I'm watching on ten play We've tried to instal it, but it doesn't work! I've always liked to see how Aussie clubs go in the ACL.
watch it on the 10play website

Got to try and go as far as possible. how old is the lad? 18 - he'll be 19 in November. Second competitive match of the season for the Mariners. Showed a fair bit in attack but very rusty with the final pass/ final shot. Tough conditions away from home and without a permanent manager. They will be all the better for the run. Next match in two weeks against Stallion Laguna at home may tell us more about how they look for the rest of the AFC Cup and for the upcoming season. Kudos to the Malaysian side - their time-wasting after they went ahead seemed no worse than many ALM teams. I expected much worse.
