+xquestion - do any of you actually rate the Cedars as opponents from what you saw ? We were clunky and messy as the commbank game - jagged a arsey unexpected early goal and rest of the game was meh talking football prowess. With their low block the amount of room both games anyone like Irvine I expect to smoother/cover his position and opponents with ease. At times he could have laced his boots the amount of space he had - he's a worker no doubt about it thats his game and against imo a pretty ordinary cedars sad that Irvine is mentioned as best player, a DM - you'd wish for attacking players to go to town against the cedars to me, especially 2nd being a 5 zip win. I suppose we see it differently or its our current plight what we have. Well to me Goodwin was clearly our best player, not so sure about Irvine, he worked hard.

+x+x+x+x+x+xNewenhoff is ahead of Devlin now and was expected to be pick the window if not for injury Yeah, the Hoff is now probably first name on the teamsheet after Shankland. I don't think Devlin-Hearts is a good match anymore. Hearts are one of the strongest teams in the league, Devlin's strength is disrupting and defending, going forward not so much. He'd be better at a club in a stronger league but lower position that defends a lot, probably playing on the counter. For that matter, the Hoff might also consider a move to a better league. He's showing he could handle that. The Hoff is a promising player, I knew that from his first few games for SFC & was shocked SFC let him go. Dumb Dumb decision. Good technique, seems to have time & is calm & has a great shot. just to say my pov robbos couldn't say special I put in promising @ 23yrs. Agreed @ SFC thought he would have become a key midfielder HTF they manage some of their leading academy players that comes back and bite them having left stirs the blood what their TD's see. Dimi, Antonis, Triantos, there were some others from memory. He and Yazbek have the promise its bringing it out in NT games against decent opponents not ones like the cedars but a good intro kind of game same for Nisbet. LFC, he's already the No 1 player at Hearts, hence why special. SFC has let so many good players go. ahhhhhh. Where is our mate MONO, I wonder if he has Georgia on his mind. LOL he’s out practising pens He must be hurting, though. But then his criticism of Australian & the Asian teams. There are 10 Asian teams ranked above Georgia, so many not so much sympathy.

That they managed to get in 1 opportunistic strike against our defense ? Cracker of a go thats for sure deserved to go in actually - even more so to stir our pots.

Irvine was both afforded allot of space and worked hard during build up to move into space at DM. During the first game Jackson also had some joy overloading out wide although if he plays I still prefer him at 6 were can play simple passes and physical attributes useful for breaking up play.
Disappointed not to see Yengi and Irendale start in combination, although not world beaters both looked a handful.
Hopefully in the short to medium term K. Yengi, Irendale, T. Yengi and Toure will be brought into the fold, form permitting.
Sad that Silvera hasn't shown me much at international level.
Metcalfe I am not sure should be taking set pieces.
Tactically didn't mind the formation.
Glad to see Yazbek and Nisbet make their debuts.

Finally watched the games.. here are my thoughts..
Ryan's kicking is getting worse and worse as his career has unfolded. Still remember seeing him warmup as a 19 yr old for socceroos in 2012- couldn't believe how good on the ball he was, was like another outfield player. Then from time he came into the team in early 2014 his kicking was excellent - a proper sweeper keeper, something we'd never had for the socceroos. Well those days a long gone he's kicking hasn't been good for yrs.
Metcalfe was poor in a 5 nil win. Moves well off the ball, very physical and works hard but really lacks quality on the ball.
Hrustic had a poor game after a promising sub appearance last match.
Jones very much looks like a lower league footballer. Solid but never will be top drawer.
I like our new 3-3-2-2 system with wingbacks. We have a lot of very good cb's these days which this system favours. Allows Atkinson and bos to play in their preferred positions and allows Goodwin to get on the ball a little more as a LWB being deeper than he normally is as a LW. Gave the socceroos a very good outlet on the left to always pass to.
Our centre backs are very very solid both literally and figuratively. Still have Circati backing them up also and uncapped Jack Iredale who will be playing Championship football next season.
Irvine and Duke are soldiers but limited footballers. Neither look natural in the positions they played as a sole 6 and RCF respectively. Look forward to players like Robertson, niewenhoff, volpato, peupion, yazbek taking Irvines spot and Toure, the Kuols , irakunda, Yengi and Iredale taking Dukes spot in coming years.
Burgess looks a wonderful addition to the lineup. Has been dominating for several years in the lower leagues being named in a couple of TOTS. Looks like he can play a higher level for sure.
Finally Goodwin - his left foot is genuinely world class and seems to be improving with age. That must be one of the most dominant performances by a socceroo ever. Should have have had at least 1 more assist also. The goal was beautiful technique. The trivela cross to the back post for Souttar likewise. Want to see him played more as a LWB in this new system where its easier to get the ball to him and he acts as a wide playmaker. Solves the left side problem with behich regressing. Bos to back him up at LWB.

Irvine is think is limited albeit seems to actually be the leader of the team and a great worker.

Metcalf is regulaely starting for the top team in buli 2 before really coming into his prime. If he holds his spot next season he achieve something around 25 players in australian history have achieved, probably less
Someone in the top 25 players australia has ever produced is not trash by our standards

My dear Robbo, Im so sorry I missed your moment of triumph, I was travelling overseas for work and didnt see your comment till now. You must have been watching this match with baited breath praying for a "gottcha" moment. Lucky for you Greece stupidly didn't convert any of their chances and choked in the penalties. How great was the reaction of Georgian fans though? They went NUTS stormed the field and were probably partying for three days, their first qualification to anything for such a small nation is a HUGE achievement. yes I was sad Greece didnt qualify but seeing a small country so happy almost (almost) makes it worthwhile. LFC you ratbag, sticking the boot in .... pfffttt I hope Spain and Albania knock both Italy AND Croatia out and obviously want Portugal to finish with three massive defeats :P lol Im on team Hungary and/or Netherlands for this one ....

Both my national teams are dear to my heart, I feel joy when they win and upset when they lose but passion is more at club level for me... Ill enjoy the Euros, as I always do, it just is a little more interesting when you have a team in the comp.... I'll even be cheering your boys on to kick the shite out of Turkey :)

It was reported 4 weeks ago that Goodwin had broken a run and would be out for 6 weeks. That doesn't necessarily rule him out for the next window at all.
