If not injured or sick why wouldn’t he be in squad? Popa always played him and was in Roos squad for Bangladesh game. Strange omission

I am really enjoying this game. Both teams are playing some very attacking cohesive football, but also showing off some fast footed skills and solid body positioning. Holman is cutting his way through multiple defenders often and neither team is scared of passing the ball into a congested area and trusting the receiver to continue the play. Positive football is a pleasure to watch. And this (for Mono) without my team even getting a sniff at the cup this year after a failure to compete from the start. Odd that Piscopo did not get a free kick as the last play of the first half - looked like Jakolis came back and took his legs out but ref just called halftime.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Second half nowhere near as good. Victory lost most of their creative attack when Piscopo and Machach were substituted on 60 minutes. Macarthur getting a goal off a tardy Geria keeping Drew onside, the blistering pace of Drew to make a lot of space behind, a desperate slide by Geria to make up for his mistake leaving his man unmarked, and a composed pass by Drew (after blazing away to buggery in the previous sprint and shot minutes before) to the now unmarked Jakolis who scored back across the keeper with great vision and touch. Once they were a goal up we saw more of the deep defending Macarthur and without their starting two creative players Victory just did not seem able to pile on the pressure - despite a lot of sort of chances and some good keeping by Kurto. Shame Victory did not manage to equalise at least and take it to extra time. That would have made it a game again. Very willing tackling by both teams being allowed to run by much lighter reffing made for a physically demanding and challenging game.

The bulls win the cup, victory couldn’t create enough chances and in the end they fell short it looks naive that Arzani didn’t play in this game.
The Bulls winning 2 cup finals in 3 years, they are starting to get a habit at winning this competition.

They doubled the prize pool for the winner which is fantastic. (shame they did it the season after the mariners won it xD)

Can't say it was particularly enjoyable (watching that abomination of a trophy presentation in an empty stadium was the icing on the farcical FA cake) but agree some of the play was fast, fluid and entertaining... Victory's Vellipulay, was a tidy little player and unlucky not to score a cracker... Agree with whoever said that taking Machash off killed the game for them... and as for the marquee striker... hahahahah couldnt hit the side of a barn... told ya :)... As for Mcarthur, they won the cup with 3 shots on goal over 4 matches.... If their keeper gets injured they are looking at relegation this year... I mean if the Aleague was a football competition that is.... poor Harry sawyer, wandering around the paddock in an empty stadium while being ignored by his so called "team mates" what have you done lad?????

The referring was quite poor I thought. That;s not just sour grapes. There was a penalty that would've 100% been given with VAR ad surely a 2nd yellow was warranted for kicking ball away? Even mile dubbed the payer right after that, Also that many time MV had the ball in attacking area and fouled but nothing given
Anyway, MV lost because they didn't finish the great chances they created at the start,
Vargos delivering on everyone's suspicions so far.
Ryan Teague is so much more tidy on the ball than Australia;s other DMs and looks to go forward. Surely he has a future with the NT if he keeps going. Please don't go to Scotland

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThere is a numptie over at "the roar": who claims the Bulls will be getting 5 thousand fans through the gates this season (amongst other outlandish jibes at the "effniks") so Sunday should see at least 1/4 of these rusted ons come down for the final... surely? Another contributor interestingly claims South Melbourne has been given massive government grants otherwise they would be in the state league and "smaller" than other Greek Australian clubs around the country?!?!!? Hahahaha my word, the hatred runs sooooo deeeeep its complimentary. Tis madness to attract your own sport. The theme of all boats rise on an incoming tide seems lost on many as you say tribal folk. If I may indulge your time a little I went to watch a couple of weeks back a U 14 match between Apia n Gladesville Spirit. What I saw was decent folk there with their kids plus an awful lot of football knowledge. Last week went with a mate to watch the Mariners academy U14 play. Guess what I saw a lot of decent folk who had great knowledge of football. I think some people forget we are made up of mostly ordinary people just trying to do the right thing. I am so so so over the infighting and dick measuring. Sure mate, its terrible what people like your buddy over at the roar does in the name of defending the APL... Some things will never change unless we discuss the "wrongs" in this system though. I am not surprised one little tiny bit that you had a similar experience with like minded football people at APIA, Gladesville AND Mariners U14 game.... Of course you did, these clubs wouldnt exist if people diodnt adore this sport...... only difference is that the APIA and Gladesville folk will NEVER be allowed to cheer their senior team against Mariners in a league setup ..... why? THATS the question. Is there anything wrong with them or their clubs? Are they bad people? Are their kids and families not the same as any other Australian? I think we both want the same thing and that is a full FIFA system... we differ in how to get there.... my path is more build a successful league and increase Football to the point a FIFA system can be introduced ... your path as I understand it is to jump to a FIFA system now .... I suggest our differences are where we see Football in the Australian sporting environment .... at present I don't think the Australian public at large """respect """ Australian Football enough to support at a meaningful level a full FIFA model.... meaning we have to build that respect and I see that coming from a meaning first division.... I guess you see it differently and I respect your views... However that we both want a full FIFA model is not in question simply the best way to get there is the debate.. The A-League has had 20 years do create a 'respectable' league and it shoots itself in the foot every 5 years or so. The fans are there, the interest is there I think you would be surprised how many people of a certain generation follow (in the loosest terms) soccer than dare I say it ... AFL..., Members of the Australian public who are probably willing to go to a first division Australian soccer game (who don't already go) don't respect the A-League because theres no pro/rel and they don't care for expansion teams. I hear you, and yep the A_l has had 20 years... but we also had 70 + years before the A-L.... Without writing a book on the why's and where's... Australian professional Football has never had the respect it needs to create a fan base that would support a proper first division and divisions below at a high level of quality .... Until we learn to respect the quality of our players and coaches, respect the game as a whole we will struggle.... Your point on how poor our management has been is very true.... its hurt a lot... Thats the question atm ... How do we get people to 'respect' Australian Football? Do we get respect and then change the system or change the system and then gain respect. Yep IMO you need strong financial systems in place to ensure you can get a higher quality of players.... and in the eyes of the broader mainstream its a solid and reliable competition... Changing the system, sounds the right way to go...my personal thoughts are Football would struggle to gain respect of the broader public and the Euro snobs would feel its befilth them to even talk about.... I often refer to the MLS and look at what and how they have achieved what they have from a starting point well well well behind where the A-L started and the NSL for that matter... they believe they need to build a fan base and so far they have and they receive less than 10% of their revenue from broadcast mostly from crowds, sponsors and merchandise sales. The A_l needs to build its crowds IMO to an average of 15K, with say Div 2 teams an average of around 5K.... then we have a foundation to build P & R... put in a plan to get there with measurable KPI's.... I believe if you told the good folk of SM, and similar clubs, you guys average 5 to 6K per game over a season with you guys helping the A-L get to 15K per season and we have the base to move to P & R... those Div 2 clubs would help build the A-L as it would be in their interest... IMO the secret is putting in place a model where its in everybody's interest for everyone to grow and get better.. Sorry Mid I dont follow, are you saying that crowds need to increase BEFORE clubs are able to get promoted? How? Playing in the same old stale league they are now? Its not working at the moment, what do you think will change if the "carrot" of maybe/possibly/one day promotion was on the table? How are Auckland, and WU and Macarthur , allowed to have a direct place in the Alegaue with NO HISTORY of a paying crowd coming to their matchs beforehand? The "eurosnobs" arent going to watch them, the existing local football fans arent paying to watch them and "mainstream Australia" doesn't even know they exist..... Before the NSL we had 4-5 very very strong state league comps and yes a national competition was perhaps rushed and unprofessional.... but 27 years of the "effnik" disaster and 20 years of the "franchise disaster" and NOTHING has really changed.... surely its time to try plan B?

Chalk and cheese the two halves I am afraid. Maybe both coaches told their teams to go all out in the first half to see what happened because that was the part of the game I really enjoyed watching. The second half went the way of many games with a team choosing to defend a 1 goal lead and solid enough players to hold out. I turned off at the final whistle - no desire to see a presentation to some rat bastard team that isn't mine ;)

Mid believes the MLS methods that for one we have no chance doing with pittance compared to billions for starters. Next their model is make believe in the big picture like the most of their sports they had no choice but to follow Franchise paths. We started by UK settlers/convicts followed by euro migrants by the plenty. We/they come from lands with P/R hence this current systems dilemma and barrier appeasing to the many beneath who dont want to grasp APL. Not All eurosnobs are totally closed about local football, countless of them are involved in grass roots and NPL lands. IF there ever was a NST some would gain interest. A football league doesn’t start from having the top all primed up and go from there for many have No connect. It won’t filter down no matter the bells and whistles working on fans to get to a game. Maybe some like in the past but it won’t last again till there is local roots input and chance to go up and go down. The emotional feel counts hence we are nothing like USA. USA buys into everything to get a ROI - they are only worried about the buck !
Oh the final - lost interest once no NPL in it
Love Football

I went along, the ref let allot go which I thought played into Macarthur hands although Hollman was good and Drew dangerous on the counter.
Thought Teague and Bos were Victory standouts.

Never mind mate, Im sure the soap dodgers will win an international trophy (or at least an international match) one day... keep believing. Believe in what ? I have no interest in international football, as everyone on this board knows. Are you still believing, that your small club will become relevant, one day again ?
You don’t like facts that go against your little agendas, do you ?

+x+x+x+x+xI am really enjoying this game. Oh I watched the match too mate. +xI went along, the ref let allot go which I thought played into Macarthur hands although Hollman was good and Drew dangerous on the counter. Thought Teague and Bos were Victory standouts. jnr Bos was very imporessive... A couple of defensive lapses and easy turn overs but put in a solid shift... Hollman was silky but his final ball was lacking..... tried to do it all on his own.

It is certainly the very definition of irony that "any clown with an inch of knowledge of football" used to watch international tournaments 20 years ago, I agree.

You don’t like facts that go against your little agendas, do you ? Relevancy? Who's club legend (player AND manager) is at a top 6 club in the best league in the world?

+xDoes anyone rate Brattan? Not super familiar with his career. Brattan is in his twilight. He was an excellent defensive mid several years ago and was praised by Ange at the Roar (or so I recall) for his passing and set piece delivery - able to land a ball on a ten cent piece. As he has gotten slower he has employed more of the 'older player physicality' to hold his place. Still plays well but far from his best now.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.
