I used to see him (Yengi) scored for wsw as a winger where another team played high Line and pushed forward.

I remembered this, at the peak of Rogic career at Celtic. At that time he scored many fantastic goals as AM outside the box.  Celtic fans wanted Rodgers to experiment and put him as a central striker so BR did.  The result was he was awful in a tight space when being marked. He couldn't do anything and missing in the game.  Rogic legs are too long once he touched the ball he got no time to do anything , he was too slow to be a poacher and he was bad in the air.

So this is a pretty tricky position

So you’re basing your entire view based on one goal you saw him score as a Wanderers player?

Even though he has been far more effective playing as a striker both at Adelaide and Portsmouth.

Don't suppose you've watched him play in the a League this season mate? Easily the most skilful striker available for the NT at the moment. Originally I found it difficult to accept him playing for us, but he's an Aussie citizen and he's very vocal about how much he loves the country & the pride he has for playing for the Socceroos. I'm team Bruno

Not much apart from the youtube highlights admittedly but he DOES seem to score most of his goals inside the box... His little cameo against Syria showed that he likes to squeeze into space just off the CB inside the box however the one and only time a half decent chance was presented to him he was a yard or two too slow...

Not questioning his desire nor eligibility for Socceroos btw, totally different topic altogether, thousands of kids grow up with the red hot dream to represent our nation on the big stage, its not a case of who is "more" worthy just who is a better fit for Arnie's, lone, hold up, physical striker to replace Duke... I reckon Bruno is to old and too slow - just an opinion.

10 AL games this season for 13 goals and 1 assist is talent worth selecting for Socceroos

I dont think so mate. Have you seen the desperate, lunging, close packed defending in this tournament so far?

Not 1 game, some games for wsw and the Socceroos. I haven't watched him at Portsmouth but followed this board and checked out comments from Portsmouth  FB fans (Nothing suggests he is a good striker & that's a League 1 level) I also checked out his scoring records.

I hope he can be like what you said tho and THAT'S WHY i keep asking you what make you so confident?   The Asian cup has started from now on with no easy opponents you really think he can be the hope upfront?

I have already told you his strengths already, it’s not my problem that you continually ignore what I write. What I haven’t told you yet I’s that he’s shown himself to be a big game player. He’s shown that by scoring in Sydney derbies, Original rivalries and A-League finals.

I have seen pretty much off of his games for Adelaide and his goalscoring record at Portsmouth is good given the amount of minutes played. He unfortunately missed a bunch of games due to injury and he’d start weekly for most other League One sides.

from my viewing of Yengi the last couple of seasons he shows promise.
Strong and really has a go he's mobile.
Much to learn still, late bloomer I guess but worth giving him a go when the time is right.

Yep makes it hard. But Fornaroli most versatile of all Roos strikers so has more chance of creating something

Looking back at the old Olympic squads, that's very true.
Going back to Atlanta 1996 (when the U23 + 3 OA player squads were brought in), we've used at least one of those OA spots for a striker each time we have qualified for the Olympics. To me, that shows that we've never had that 'young striker' that stands out above everything else we have.

1996 - Aurelio Vidmar (only two overage players selected in the squad)
2000 - Mark Viduka
2004 - John Aloisi (and I guess you could add Tim Cahill to that considering what he ended up becoming for the Socceroos)
2008 - Archie Thompson
2020 - Mitch Duke (and Duke was the only overage player in that squad - first time since 1996 we did not use an overage player slot in the squad)

A in form Bruno/Arzani combo would have edged ahead for mine as first choice.

Otherwise it's a bit of a toss of the coin between the four.
