A in form Bruno/Arzani combo would have edged ahead for mine as first choice.
Otherwise it's a bit of a toss of the coin between the four.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xI haven't seen much of Yengi, but he has immense physical strength. He absolutely outmuscled an enormous Syrian player, turning him, also having good technical use of the body. Could he be used as central striker? It’s his best position. Not only is he strong, he’s very quick and technically very good too. Its worth seeing what Yengi can do up top.... Id rather that then Tappy Gilmore Who's Tappy Gilmore? Our pet Aussie Uruguayan whose only talent is that he was once mates with Louis Suarez. 10 AL games this season for 13 goals and 1 assist is talent worth selecting for Socceroos I dont think so mate. Have you seen the desperate, lunging, close packed defending in this tournament so far? Yep makes it hard. But Fornaroli most versatile of all Roos strikers so has more chance of creating something Striker is that ONE position we really struggle with... Im not a fan of Bruno, lets see what Arnies rolls out tonight.... Looking back at the old Olympic squads, that's very true. Going back to Atlanta 1996 (when the U23 + 3 OA player squads were brought in), we've used at least one of those OA spots for a striker each time we have qualified for the Olympics. To me, that shows that we've never had that 'young striker' that stands out above everything else we have. 1996 - Aurelio Vidmar (only two overage players selected in the squad) 2000 - Mark Viduka 2004 - John Aloisi (and I guess you could add Tim Cahill to that considering what he ended up becoming for the Socceroos) 2008 - Archie Thompson 2020 - Mitch Duke (and Duke was the only overage player in that squad - first time since 1996 we did not use an overage player slot in the squad)

from my viewing of Yengi the last couple of seasons he shows promise. Strong and really has a go he's mobile. Much to learn still, late bloomer I guess but worth giving him a go when the time is right.

Could he be used as central striker? It’s his best position. Not only is he strong, he’s very quick and technically very good too. He did good holding up and link up against Syria. But he was awful as a Super sub against Palestines last month. Sydney Wanderers 18 games 4 goals Portsmouth 12 games 3 goals His scoring record wasn't impressive. Fornaroli is much better as central striker
Holes all over this post. 1. He didn't even get on the field against Palestine. 2. Played mostly at LW, out of position & off the bench for the Wanderers. 3. He's barely got off the bench for Portsmouth, started only 3 games & scored the winner against Bolton. He's done well to score 3 goals, considering the limited opportunities he's had. My mistake. Bahrain in Friendly I mean not Palestine. What make you think he can score as a central striker for a Socceroos? Were there any moments that you think he almost score for the Socceroos? Maybe as a winger but not a striker. Yes he scored a few goals in League 1, however not consistent enough and that's why you see him would start 1 game then back to the bench the next game for Portsmouth.
Wanderers wouldn't put him as a central striker so why would you put him there when you have Fornaroli? I showed you his scoring record so you see nothing suggests he can score.
I totally understand your hope to find a new young striker. Just like some people here used to say they wanted Leckie or Rogic as our central striker at one point. Someone even wanted Koul there b4 too.
That's becuase Rudan is an idiot. Anyone who has seen him play will tell you that striker is his best position. I haven't seen any sight of him as a great striker. What are his strength other than holding the ball? Heading? Tapping? Short/long shooting? Is he a poacher? Any evidence? Which game that shows he can be a good striker? I'd love to see it. He looks awkward as a central striker. Okay now I know for sure that you’ve only seen him play 1-2 times at most. He can hold the ball up well, he’s very strong, got a powerful shot on him and he’s very confident in front of goal. I used to see him (Yengi) scored for wsw as a winger where another team played high Line and pushed forward. I remembered this, at the peak of Rogic career at Celtic. At that time he scored many fantastic goals as AM outside the box. Celtic fans wanted Rodgers to experiment and put him as a central striker so BR did. The result was he was awful in a tight space when being marked. He couldn't do anything and missing in the game. Rogic legs are too long once he touched the ball he got no time to do anything , he was too slow to be a poacher and he was bad in the air. So this is a pretty tricky position So you’re basing your entire view based on one goal you saw him score as a Wanderers player? Even though he has been far more effective playing as a striker both at Adelaide and Portsmouth. Not 1 games , some games for wsw and the Socceroos. I haven't watched him at Portsmouth but followed this board and checked out comments from Portsmouth FB fans (Nothing suggests he is a good striker & that's a League 1 level) I also checked out his scoring records. I hope he can be like what you said tho and THAT'S WHY i keep asking you what make you so confident? The Asian cup has started from now on with no easy opponents you really think he can be the hope upfront? Hoping & Reality are a big difference. I have already told you his strengths already, it’s not my problem that you continually ignore what I write. What I haven’t told you yet I’s that he’s shown himself to be a big game player. He’s shown that by scoring in Sydney derbies, Original rivalries and A-League finals. I have seen pretty much off of his games for Adelaide and his goalscoring record at Portsmouth is good given the amount of minutes played. He unfortunately missed a bunch of games due to injury and he’d start weekly for most other League One sides.

Don't suppose you've watched him play in the a League this season mate? Easily the most skilful striker available for the NT at the moment. Originally I found it difficult to accept him playing for us, but he's an Aussie citizen and he's very vocal about how much he loves the country & the pride he has for playing for the Socceroos. I'm team Bruno Not much apart from the youtube highlights admittedly but he DOES seem to score most of his goals inside the box... His little cameo against Syria showed that he likes to squeeze into space just off the CB inside the box however the one and only time a half decent chance was presented to him he was a yard or two too slow... Not questioning his desire nor eligibility for Socceroos btw, totally different topic altogether, thousands of kids grow up with the red hot dream to represent our nation on the big stage, its not a case of who is "more" worthy just who is a better fit for Arnie's, lone, hold up, physical striker to replace Duke... I reckon Bruno is to old and too slow - just an opinion.

If we can actually get some decent crosses and corners he would.. some of the deliveries the other night were disgusting.

Fornaroli for now -he can shoot, willing to play across the field so pulling defenders with him and can hold up the ball.Long term Yengi worth persisting with and Iredale if he gets his chance in this tournament.
Also Alou Kuol,.Archie Goodwin and Botic have potential.I also think Irankunda as he matures could have all the attributes needed to a top striker-speed,size,a thunderbolt shot and willingness to take on defenders.Lately he has shown better temperament and some passing ability.I am not sure about his heading and whether he can hold the ball up with his back to goal.

+x+x+x+x+xI haven't seen much of Yengi, but he has immense physical strength. He absolutely outmuscled an enormous Syrian player, turning him, also having good technical use of the body. Could he be used as central striker? It’s his best position. Not only is he strong, he’s very quick and technically very good too.

If you count cup games Yengi has 7 goals in 17 games for Portsmouth also. That isn't a bad record.

Yengi would start for pretty much every other League One club. Portsmouth’s other striker Colby Bishop has been in great form and unfortunately they can’t fit both into the XI.

Id rather that then Tappy Gilmore Who's Tappy Gilmore? I'm assuming JMac, but hey... Happy Gilmore won a major, so that's a pretty good compliment

Could be a blessing in disguise this. I wouldn't be disappointed if any of Fornaroli, Yengi or Iredale start. They all bring their different qualities.

Iredale is more of a starter than an impact player so it's probably worth throwing him in for a good 50min then assessing what's next. I think Yengi and Fornaroli are more likely to thrive if we have a lead and Uzbekistan start pushing as they've got strength and smarts against a tiring opponent.
