+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xWTF is going on up in Shitney? Is knife crime a trend now? According to Americans on twitter we need more guns. I think we should all be able to legally tow cannons behind our Dodge Ram pick ups...... lol Seriously though, guns wouldnt have done a thing to stop that poor mentally broken man who stabbed all the innocents in Westfield. He was holding a knife and NOBODY had the guts to tackle him to the ground and diffuse the situation... I couple of tourists threw a plastic bollard at him and the scarpered.... Now I know "fight or flight" kicks in and its hard to tell what our reactions would be in the face of such danger but the dude was clearly sick and on a rampage .... not one big dude stepped up to clock him one on the chin as he was running past? Such a sad sad situation all round... It was a long knife and you would need to be totally fearless( or stupid)to physically confront him.I don't think I could have done it Mate Im no macho man I promise but if my wife and kids where in the way I would have had a crack at him, stabbing be damned. I just think we have become a society unwilling to defend what is right and good in the world. A couple of hefty lads sitting on this guys chest until the coppers turned up would have prevented a whole lot of suffering and death. You'd like to think you'd do the right thing but if 50 people are running at you saying there's a lunatic stabbing people and your wife and kids are with you you're probably going to get as far away as quickly as possible. Yeah thats a fair call.... its easy to bluster about on the internet... but still a little saddened that the bloke ran past hundreds of people. He sidestepped quite a few blokes who squared up to him was more my point and they, as soon as the danger went away from them, just stepped back... Sure maybe I would have done the exact same thing or even pissed my ants in fear but this could have ended so differently if thousands of people didn't have to wait 40 mins for a brave young constable to pop him one with a gun and kill him.... thats all Im saying. No I get it. I said the same thing to my wife. I'd be way more comfortable heading towards trouble if I was standing with another bloke who was full of piss and vinegar, the size of a house, covered in tatts and was egging me on and we had chairs or something to put some distance between us and fuck knuckle. Otherwise I'd probably be on my bike too. Too often you read about some poor bastard sticking up for someone and then they get the shit kicked out of them and their head stomped on. It's grim. True enough but true altruism has gone out of our DNA and it makes, in my opinion, for a poorer society... Aussies used to roll up their sleeves and look out for the little guys, now we turn the other cheek and cry on instagram about our feelings .... A couple of years back, pre COVID anyway, I was at a bar with some mates and popped out the front for a ciggie. A beautiful young girl was balling her eyes out in the gutter, pretty drunk and fairly distressed, I asked her if she was OK or needed help and as I was helping her up to her feet three mean arse bastards came up the alley yelling at her to get the fuck back in the car ... she looked at me ... shook her head .... I told her to run and that I would take care of it...... Copped a few little love taps before a bouncer came bundling out the front and scared them off but I could have had the shit stomped out of me ..... fact is, thinking back now I would do it again mate... Was shaking like a wet dog for the next 3 hours but still reackon what I did was right. Told the missus when I got home and she said "good" and went and got me some steak from the fridge for the shiner. :)
