Not including Olyroos that are already also involved with the Socceroos like Circati, Robertson, Bos and Yazbek, but which of our current olyroos or players eligible for the Olyroos are ready for the full national side?
For mine..
Niewenhoff - guy is probably the 2nd or 3rd best hearts player atm according to their fan forum. Italiano - given our dearth of Rb's. Thought he played very well in u23 Asian Cup. Socceroos exposure might help him make the jump up in Germany to Bundi 1 or 2. Farrell - player that you can see has a very high ceiling. Socceroos exposure will help him get an overseas move. Mo Toure- OK missed the penalty but wasn't badly struck and thought he was great with his holdup play, passing, movement and dribbling. Looks a real threat. Volpato - not an olyroo but is eligible. Milanovic - thought he played very well, very direct, hard runner with decent delivery. Can go either left or right of his man and decent delivery.

Agree with the latter, but in the only Olyroo game I saw Triantis he was sent off, and failed to impress. It might have been against Saudi or Qatar? Aus won easily on the scoreboard. Based on that one game, he would be nowhere near the senior Socceroos. Of course it is only one game though.

With this net window essentially being dead rubbers it's a good opportunity to blood some players. I don't see it however as 2 wins and a South Korea slip up could see us jump them in the rankings. Just jump them I believe but don't quote me on that. The Palestine game is a good chance to practice against a low block. Utmost priority is getting Circati capped and locked.
If Arnold is going to continue with inverted fullbacks then someone like Baccus should be started at RB. They just hang in midfield anyway. Ironically I think it's someone who needs a big engine but they're in a fairly static role. Strain is easily the best right back. Atkinson still fares well and held his own against Peru and South Korea. Norway is in season. Do we want to drag Yazbek to Dhaka and Perth? Heaven forbid Stenseness gets called up again. Irankunda is already away. There's a mix of injured, exhausted ( O'Neill, McGree, Irvine, Burgess)
Milanovic is likely on the outer but I think, why not throw a few of these guy into the main squad? Hollman is a classy player on his day. I'd go further to add Segecic. It's a window where Arnold should dust of some cobwebs so I want starts for Yengi, Iredale, Circati, Bos, Silvera. Some are coming off massive seasons and haven't had a full summer or winter off due to tournaments the past few years. Bundesliga starts 23.8. Some teams have tours set up. We're permitted to name 26. I'd select:
Gauci, Thomas, Beach
Strain, Deng, Circati, Laws, Iredale, Bos, Farrell
Metcalfe, Nieuwenhof, Hrustic, Nisbet, Baccus, Devlin, Hollman, Segecic
Yengi, Iredale, Goodwin, Boyle, Mo Toure, Silvera, Mabil, Borrello
26 almost feels like too much. It won't happen and the susual suspects of Behich, Leckie, Duke will be picked.

Last week he just banged in two good goals with his left foot! At last!

Looks like he's switched to a back 5 which suits us better anyway given the plethora of good cb's we have and decent wingbacks in Atkinson, Bos and Metcalfe (actually think this is his best position).

As u say the ones that have beem called up or attempted to be called up are the ones ready
Neiwenhof, yazbek, toure, volpato, bos and robertson
The others i think are a few years away. A lot of them are about the same or slightly better than rivals were at the same age but bwhind where they are now
Farrell might be an exception

All of the Olyroos players including the ones that couldn't play in the u23s have got good potential, its up to them to work hard to have decent careers in the sport.
Even if they underperformed in that tournament I dont think it reflects on their individual ability, they still young and will mature into decent players over time and some of them also have interesting skill sets and profiles which we haven't had in the Socceroos set up for quite awhile which is quite encouraging.
From watching the play in the last 12 months they looked technically they look class now they just need moulding at club level.

Very well said, I agree, there is a lot of highly technical players, whether they succeed or not depends on their willingness to work hard.

Milanovic - thought he played very well, very direct, hard runner with decent delivery. Can go either left or right of his man and decent delivery. Italiano - no. Technique not good enough for this new U23 generation of whizz technicians - more like an older Aus player of past generations. Great ball winner , plays well positionally but lacks the first touch and handling speed that most of his U 23 cohorts have. Good leader on the pitch. Atkinson still a fair bit in front. Talbot - slick technician, but needs to become a more dominant ball winner as a RB. He executed sone superb first touches hder pressure and is a good passer and mover. Nieuwenhof - being a Hearts better player, isn't significant internationally. However, in the one Olyroo game I saw him play, he should be in the senior Socceroos. Very accomplished on the ball and off the ball. Some of his pass and move sequences on the right flank with Brook, Trewin and Talbot were outstanding. He is also a good ball winner. Goes into a twin screening role with O'Neill for mine for the senior Socceroos immediately. Farrell - before the Olympic qualifiers I thought he was best outfield player int he entire U 23 squad - Euro players included. He must have been injured or fatigued in Qatar. He was very disappointing by his own lofty standards. Not sure now? Faz has been brilliant in the A L and in his previous hit out with the U 23s against Saudi. Like Niew on right flank, some of his pass and move sequences with Volodan, Natta and possibly Rodriguez, Milanovic and Garang K, were brilliant. Superb first touch statically and when he takes his touch away from his marker. Saw little of his explosive ball carrying in Qatar. Mo Toure- had a few shots against Jordan, 7 against Indo and 0 against Qatar. Strong and physical, but his shooting was a massive disappointment in Qatar, but was much better in lead up games. I like him more than Yengi, despite his poor shooting in Qatar. Wins a lot of hard balls against rugged CBs and causes turnoevers in attacking third. Has pace and power. Milanovic - really developing , but lost his shooting form In Qatar Olympic Cup qual comp. Defends well from the front. A weakness is when he dribbles and ball carries he doesn't keep his head up like Jake Hollman and Brook. Volpato - couldn' t care if he wants to play for Aus. I've seen so much talent coming through, we don't need him. Segevic, Voladan, Youlley and Jake Hollman, all have enormous talent at number ten. Jake Hollman - outstanding ball winner, keeps his head up when dribbling and ball carrying, has terrific acceleration, magnificent passer and mover in tight spaces, fast handling speed, and can play 6, 8 and 10. I think he is aged 22 and is a bit older than some of his teammates, but has more complete skill set than McGree and Metcalfe - albeit the latter being a better header and is physically stronger. Like Metcalfe, Jake H needs to score more goals. I'd be inclined to play him in the Socceroos now - like many of his U 23 teammates these guys have much quicker ball movement or ball circulation that most of the senior players don't. Also, defends better than Hrustic. Needs to build some upper body strength - overhead presses, lat pull downs and bench presses for mine in the gym. Lachlan Brook - I think he should be right wing for the seniors. Brooks is the most significant scorer from a wing, possibly apart from Goodwin. Shoots powerfully with both right and left foot outside the pen box. Terrific grafter in winning hard balls and tracking back. Excellent passer and mover in tight spaces. The complete winger. Take goo positions at back post. Better ball winner than Boyle, being physically stronger. Most players have a weaker foot, that good defenders identify. Brook is i accomplished on both sides of the body, he beats defenders cutting inside and outside. One issue he might lack speed over the turf. I have seen opposition players outpace him slightly wjhilst they have the ball at their feet, whilst he is running alongside them without the ball. When I have time I will appraise C- Perkins, Valadon, Youlley, Teague, Segecic, Villupillay. Some people reading this will be surprised any of us are enthusiastic about the U 23s, because of not qualifying for Olympics. If one has a look at the stats in Grazor's comprehensive U 23 thread, they absolutely dominated everywhere in all three games, except on the scoreboard. They had 60 shots at goal compared the combined of 18 for the opposition over the three games.

Hearts both traditionally and currently are Scotland's third biggest team meaning they regularly qualify for Europa league. Typically their top 2 or 3 players are Scottish internationals and are eventually picked up by prem teams or the old firm. Neil McCann, Steven naismith, Steven pressman and a long list of others. Case in point in the current team is Lawrence Shankland who is league top scorer and apart of the national team.

Generally when our players play in Scotland I see little improvement with play on the ball apart from Baccus.. The improvement tends to be in ball winning, which must be of greater value in Scotland in the type of football they play. If Hearts regularly play Europa league, which I think is a minimum of 6 tough tournament type matches, home and away, this is really good for players' development. Until recently, Scotland national team football hasn't been that successful. ATM they are a bit better from what I've seen, noting Lydon Dykes, an Aussie reject, plays for Scotland.

+x+x+x+xNot including Olyroos that are already also involved with the Socceroos like Circati, Robertson, Bos and Yazbek, but which of our current olyroos or players eligible for the Olyroos are ready for the full national side? When I have time I will appraise C- Perkins, Vadon, Youlley, Teague, Segecic, Villupillay. Disagree when you say being one of Hearts better players isn't significant internationally. Thanks for pointing this out, BOH. Generally when our players play in Scotland I see little improvement with play on the ball apart from Baccus.. The improvement tends to be in ball winning, which must be of greater value in Scotland in the type of football they play. You haven't got a clue about Scottish football. According to you Scotland is one of the epicentres in world football. Raw stats and playing style indicate it is still essentially an old fashioned hoof ball league. I've seen recent Scottish Cup games. There is still a lot of fighting for the ball in transitional phases of play, where both teams battle for control of the ball in the case of a number of Scottish teams. Too often teams struggle to possess the ball for 5- 10 pass sequences whilst gaining territory into the midfield and even the attacking third. Third man runs are infrequent, apart from the better teams. Turnovers occur far too frequently in the Scottish league. I can't remember seeing full backs hoof it into orbit, when there are players showing for the ball on the deck and opening viable passing lanes within a few metres - like one sees in Scotland. Watching A L and Asian international football, hoofing it is only a last resort when all passing lanes are closed down. Thankfully, when I've had a look at some recent national team Scottish games, they are playing some better football. Not sure how when Aus football is discussed on an Aussie football forum, you are always keen to change the topic to Scottish football? Are you a Scot living in Aus, or a Scot living in Scotland?

So he isn't an Australian reject.

Case in point in the current team is Lawrence Shankland who is league top scorer and apart of the national team. Thanks for pointing this out, BOH. Generally when our players play in Scotland I see little improvement with play on the ball apart from Baccus.. The improvement tends to be in ball winning, which must be of greater value in Scotland in the type of football they play. "QPR striker Lyndon Dykes (pix) said Monday he decided to reject the chance to represent Australia because he owes his career to Scotland" "Arnold said that had Australia's qualifiers not been called off back in March 2020, Lyndon would've been selected in the squad to play Kuwait and Nepal." So he isn't an Australian reject. Let’s be honest, he’d have a handful of caps for us max.

+x+x+x+x+x+xNot including Olyroos that are already also involved with the Socceroos like Circati, Robertson, Bos and Yazbek, but which of our current olyroos or players eligible for the Olyroos are ready for the full national side? When I have time I will appraise C- Perkins, Vadon, Youlley, Teague, Segecic, Villupillay. Disagree when you say being one of Hearts better players isn't significant internationally. Hearts both traditionally and currently are Scotland's third biggest team meaning they regularly qualify for Europa league. Prob would have been our starting striker ever since he moved to QPR. Would have played about 25 caps til now imo. Is younger than Duke too so would have a few more yrs as our no1 til Yengi and Mo Toure step up

I do see your point about the Scottish league in general which save for celtic rangers and only just Hearts, is prob A league level and thus not 'internationally significant' as you say. But Hearts do have a long history even in recent yrs of producing Premier league, old firm and international players. Dykes we did try to cap but covid happened so the games in 2000 were called off and by the next time the qualifiers came around he was called up by Scotland and so picked them instead.

The big weakness for the senior Socceroos is lack of speed of ball movement in midfield and attack.
The U 23s have this quality in spades.
Jake Hollman, Teague, Voladon, Jelecic, Youlley, Farrell, Talbot, C - Perkins, Natta, Segecic, Trewin, Brook, Milanovic, Villupillay, Garang Kuol, et al, have this quality when playing with each other.
Backed by an experienced and tough defence of Ryan, Souttar, Atkinson, Rowles and Behich/Bos, the u 23s playing in more attacking positions in the senior could inflict serious damage.
I would like to see this team in the not too distant future.
..........................................Ryan
Atkinson...........Souttar........Rowles/Circati........Bos
...................Nieuwenhof..................O'Neill ....................................Jake Hollman
Brook...................Yengi/Iredale................. Goodwin
Need to see more of Robertson.
Irvine should probably be in the midfield, because of his recent goalscoring output, but if we want slick attacking interplay and faster senior Socceroo ball movement in central midfield to break down deep defensive blocks, Nieuw, O'Neill and Jake Hollman are the players to do it , ably assisted by Brook at right wing.
Goodwin and Souttar have to be there - Souttar for aerial presence at both ends of the pitch. Goodwin for his ability to provide assists, and composure in front goal as a winger. Also, a team leader with great experience. Other players have said publicly Goodwin lifts the whole team when on the pitch.

Can't believe you've left out Bacchus and McGree, who is easily our best technician, Bacchus our best ball winner. Have to agree about Jake Hollman though albeit not ahead of Mcgree. Very well rounded player as you mentioned in the above. Brook seems to have a thumping shot on him on both feet, albeit just lacked the accuracy in qatar. Think we really need to start blooding some of these guys into the roos team quickly to a. Lift our national side and b. Assist their careers. For mine, Mo Toure is already past Duke, Farrell is already past Behich, Brook milanovic and Hollman are all about equal to Boyle, Metcalfe and Hrustic and past Mabil. Think those 3 are better than Yazbek also. N'hoff already equal to Irvine albeit Irvines mindset, leadership and goalscoring from mid are all Cahillesque. Regeneration needed fast.

I think Hrustic is the best technician with the ball in the front 6 with the ball at his feet. Where he is weaker is as a ball winner, and causing turnovers, in his performance when they have the ball. In the younger gen, we have good technicians in spades in midfield, who work harder off the ball than Hrustic - Nieuw, Teague, Jake Hollman - as ball winners and ball players - adding Jelacic, and Priestman ( can't even make Aus underage teams), plus Segecic, Youlley and Voladon as slick ball players. I'm a huge fan of Faz, but he was mediocre in Qatar when we needed him to terrorise the opposition defences. Vidmar didn't use him like that though. I think Faz wasn't 100% fit. Thanks for starting this thread, BOH. I felt gutted when South K played all over Aus in the Asian Cup seniors. At U 23 level, I think we are better than South K. We have hope!

On pure skill yes I think hrustic is great and youre prob right prob our best but tactically and mentally not great ... his peripheral vision around him is poor always gets blindsided and decision making poor. Then mentality seems to drop his head/ act uninterested etc. As an overall package I still rate mcgree above any of our mids and forwards and think he has the highest ceiling. Already premier league quality imo. Easily can imagine him at an Everton or Fulham etc. And re bacchus I think he needs to sack his agent! Played very well at the world cup, consistently one of our best for the Roos and yet can't move away from his lower half Scottish side. I do remember previously championship teams and AEK athens were linked to him but then nothing eventuated

+x+x+x+xThe big weakness for the senior Socceroos is lack of sped of ball movement in midfield and attack. I would like ot se this team in the not too doestan future. ..........................................Ryan Atkinson...........Souttar........Rowles/Circati........Bos ...................Nieuwenhof..................O'Neill ....................................Jake Hollman Brook...................Yengi/Iredale................. Goodwin Need to see more of Robertson. I beg to differ. It has a huge latent support which only comes out when the club makes a cup final. But, the ground is often full which means that 10% of the towns population attends matches there. I know it well having been regularly lifted over the turnstiles at Love street as a child. To say that it is a smaller club with a limited budget is condescending. Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are bigger but not better clubs. There is no way Baccus is good enough for Rangers or Celtic.

Played very well at the world cup, consistently one of our best for the Roos and yet can't move away from his lower half Scottish side. I do remember previously championship teams and AEK athens were linked to him but then nothing eventuated Hrustic Seems to have improved his vision and speed of thought since playing in the Eredivisie - which has been much needed. He played one lovely deft lob on a plate for an assist to a recent Goodwin goal for the Socceroos. His problem is there are so many younger Socceroos aged 22 and under, who are quality technicians on the ball - and they work hard to defend too. McGree Looks pretty good technically compared to most of his current senior Socceroo teammates in the front 6 , but there is so much quantity of quality, young 22 years and under Aussie midfielders who are decent technicians coming through - already at least as good as as McGree - on the ball. Baccus Would love to see him join Hrustic in the Netherlands, or O'Neill in Belgium. Switzerland would be a good option, as would Portugal, but for some reason Aussies have struggled to get starting positions in the top div in Portugal. One of the big four Greek clubs - PAOK, AEK Athens, Olympiakos or Panathainakos - would be good for Baccus too. Most of these 4 must play some UEFA Champ league or Europa League football. I think Nieuw may have marginally overtaken him in recent times. Arnie is on record as saying these younger Aussies can do things he hasn't seen Aussie players do in previous generations.

I thought that pass he played was poor.. it was too slow to get to him and wasn't in front on him. Goodwin did amazingly to make it a good pass in the end. Had the ball been a bit quicker and in front of him it would have been a lot easier to finish. Re Mcgree I think he's still a level above Brook, Vel, milanovic, Hollman etc. Bacchus was linked to AEK previously which would have been a great move for him!

Nieuwenhof, on club form arguably could be a starter.
Mo Toure, weak National team position, why not.
Farrell, unsure how this guy has not yet made a Socceroos squad.
Got big taps on Milanovic, not sure he is ready now but can see the potential... believe he may have another gear in him if he was to move to Europe... rather the likes of Arzani selected ahead of him at the moment.

In the lead up games for the Olyroos was only mediocre. I thought Natta was the better option. Interestingly, Vidmar played Natta at left CB in most lead up games. However, another poster has data that shows Natta doesn't win enough duels in the AL for a CB, which is a position where they have to dominate opponents, often because they have the favourable body position relative to the opponent. Natta is superb on the ball on both sides of the body. Getting back to C-P. I thought he was outstanding in all three of the Olympic qualifiers in Qatar. Excellent ball winner, terrific composure on the ball, read the game well, and even impressive going forwards. Definitely a good prospect for senior Socceroo left CB.
Also. C-P plays left back. Surprisingly he was better going forwards than tackling, delaying and jockeying in this wider role, whilst he is far more comfortable doing this in a more central position. However, he could play a useful role as a three man back three instead of Rowles for the senior Socceroos, because he is good going forwards at left back
Youlley
Only aged 19. Has superb passing range for such a young payer. Terrific composure on the ball. His greatest weakness is he is easily outmuscled in 1v1 duels, but jockeys and delays well. Needs two muscular ball winners near him ( Niew, Jake Hollman) in a midfield triangle to compensate for his inability to win hard balls against older players. If he improves his ball winning, he will be a Socceroo starter in not too long. In a few Olyroo games the rugged tackling of Popovic, Italiano or D'Arrigo were needed to back up him being outmuscled by opponents.
Jelacic
How wasn't he selected in the Olyroos in the first pace? Didn't see his flashy left foot outside step over, then left sided body swerve, that consistently upends defenders in the AL, but he executed the La Croqueta move, beating two defenders in quick succession a few times in Qatar. Arzani does this as well.
What impressed me was Jelacic's ability to win hard balls in the attacking third and his technique in general pass and move sequences in structured possession and attacking interplay. Came the closest to scoring with his shot inducing a finger save, where the ricochet hit the inside of the post against Qatar. Can't see him as a senior Socceroo just year, but he is a more complete player than D'Arrigo, who he replaced.

With all the quality youth coming through really want to see us move on from the last generation inc Leckie, Behich, Duke, Boyle, Mabil, Gethin Jones and Borello. Ideally Taggart, Irvine, Goodwin and Luongo also, but Taggart is in red hot form, Irvines goals and leadership are cahillesque, Goodwin seems to be peaking in 30's and also lifts the team and Luongo seems to be having a 2nd career peak.
Milanovic in for leckie, Farrell for Behich, Mo Toure for Duke, Brook for Borello, Milanovic for Boyle, Strain for Gethin Jones, Arzani for Mabil. Amd Nhoff over Yazbek.
Really exciting times ahead for the socceroos.

Right now, there aren’t that many to break into the squad right away but I can see a fair few eventually getting caps. The uncapped players that I think are ready right now are Circati, Farrell, Brook, Milanovic and Irankunda.
Of players that have been capped, the likes of Tilio, Toure and Garang Kuol can definitely get back into the senior squad when they are fit, playing regularly and in form.
In the next 12 months, I can definitely see the likes of Girdwood-Reich and Teague seriously challenging for Socceroos spots.
And lastly, a potential call-up from left field. Giuseppe Bovalina had a good first season in the ALM and has now gone to the MLS. If he plays regularly there, then he should definitely be in consideration.

Bovalina wasn't put under a lot of defensive pressure, so I could not really evaluate his defending qualities. I think in that game Aus had a game plan of attacking on the left flank, so Bovalina either tucked in and played a back three as Aus advanced on the left flank. Or deployed the new inversion tactic where he tucked in closer and in line with the defensive midfield screener, to negate opposition counter attacks.

MLS? How many games do they play? They tend to play on good pitches in the MLS. I've seen quite a bit of Simmons for WSW at RB live this season and have been pretty impressed. That Bovalina is selected in front of him for national Aus underage teams, indicates he must be a pretty good player, despite the game I saw him play for the Aus U 23s, he wasn't under under much defensive pressure, and most of the attacking play probably went on the left flank instead. Sadly, I've seen very little of AU this season to get a better look at Bovalina and evaluate him.

However from what I’ve heard, Vancouver haven’t got his visa sorted yet so I’m not sure when he’ll debut for them. Bova is a very attacking full-back and scored a lot of goals at NPL level. He scored one at ALM level and really should’ve scored a few more.

I thought C-P was only mediocre in the lead up games to the Qatar Olympic Qualifying tournament. Admittedly, in one game C-P was played at LB, where I thought he struggled in his defensive duties - jockeying, showing, delaying and timing his tackles in a wider position.
Yet in the three games in Qatar C-P excelled as a CB in his defensive duties - jockeying, tackling, delaying, heading, body on body duels - plus he displayed good distribution. Moreover, he played well going forwards when ball carrying.
C-P held his CB position well as part of a team defensive unit in Qatar. I can't remember him making an errant defensive pass, even under pressure. An all round CB. One of the newer all round good ball winners and good ball playing CBs we are producing on a regular basis in Aus. He probably looks a bit older, but I think he is only 21. I think he is on the way to overtaking a number of CBs in the senior Socceroo pecking order if he plays like he did in Qatar - and- continues to improve.

So are you telling me C-P usually plays LB than CB in the AL for SFC? If that is the case I'm astonished? Both Farrell and Mauragis are better at LB with the Aus U 23s, but C-P excelled at left CB in Qatar for the team. He would have been a candidate for best outfield player for Aus over the three games. In previous Aus U 23 hit outs he was better at left CB than LB too. Vidmar preferred him to Natta as left CB in Qatar, whilst usually preferring Natta as left CB in lead up games. C-P is a very versatile footballer!

For most of the season, Jake Girdwood-Reich has played out of position there and has partnered one of Lacerda, Rodwell or young Hayden Mathews who has been nothing short of brilliant since breaking into the first team. On Saturday, Rodwell partnered Matthew’s at CB, Joel King played LB and Courtney-Perkins played LW.

Maybe this guy needs to play senior Socceroo football - to provide cover in so many positions! Not only did Vidmar prefer C-B as CB over Natta, but also G-R. I've been told off forum how good Matthews is too - and still very young.

Maybe SFC fans can put the record straight and tell us which position he plays in club football for SFC? C-P is a very versatile footballer! He's a defender, he's played LB for most of the season, but pushed up to left midfield to accommodate King at LB. Sydney has 2 excellent young centre backs inGridwood-Reich & Matthews. Haven't seen as much of GR for SFC, only a few games for the Olyroos. Matthews looks like an impressive young CB for SFC. He has height too.

Teague
I don't think Teague is quite ready for senior Socceroo selection yet, but his broad skill set as a specialist 6, or single DM screener, has him fast catching, or even overtaking, more senior Socceroo DMs - Baccus, Genreau, Irvine, Metcalfe, Devlin, et al - in some cases .
I think Nieuw is more effective, as a ball winner than Teague, whilst O'Neill is more polished and more rugged than the Melb Vic player. Teague repeatedly tackles off the wrong foot when opponents try and go around the right side of his body, using his preferred left foot. Hence, his body position is less effective.
What is really impressive is Teague has similar positioning as the sole screening Defensive Midfielder as Mile Jedinak. Like the former Socceroo captain, Teague is very disciplined in how he keeps the screen in front of the Aus back four - often by himself.
At times, Youlley or Jelacic on the right, and Jake Hollman on the left, when the U23 Socceroos assume the attacking midfield triangle in a 4-3-3 in Ball Possession, and Aus rotates the the midfield triangle, play closer to Teague as Aus plays out.
Teague's ability to play in tight pass and move sequences is good, like most of the U 23s and younger Aussies. His passing over range is decent too, but unlike Youlley who can passover range with both feet, which is rare, Teague plays the longer diagonal balls with his preferred left foot. Teague is usually a solid tackler and reads when to make them effectively too. He just heeds to work on tackling with his non-preferred right foot, so he can tackle with both feet with optimum body shape - like Aaron Mooy or Tom Rogic did.
Whereas Teague's disciplined positional screening play reminds me of Jedi's, he is nowhere near as good as the former Socceroo skipper in aerial duels or as an enforcer - yet. However, his technique on the ball is vastly superior to Jedi's.
ATM Arnold probably prefers Yazbek, who also tackles off the wrong foot too, but I think Teague has a superior array of skills for a specialist 6. Not having seen as much of Yazbek, he may be quicker over the turf and be more capable of adapting to the number 8 role, as well as 6, than Teague. I noted a few months back Vidmar preferred Teague as the starting screener over both Niew and Yazbek.
If he keeps on his recent upward trajectory, Teague will be pushing for a Socceroos squad berth sooner than later.

Just in the last few months, since Qatar, Teague has improved his heading in 1v1 duels, and, is winning more tackles and 1v1 muscle duels. The next thing he needs, and he will as he becomes more experienced, is anticipating and making intercepts from good reading of play. He has more technical class on the ball than many of his midfield rivals - Tapp, Balard, Yazbek, Devlin, Irvine, Metcalfe, Genreau.

Valadon
This guy has a big future for mine. Not because he has played a lot of minutes at pro senior level, but because of the skill set he has.
Robbie Slater thought Valadon was dominant in the CCM final, but I thought he wasn't on the ball as much as he needs to be for the the type of player he is - a potential midfield general.
More so than in the Olyroo games in Qatar, CCM's Squeezing and Pressing in the grand final, closed his passing lanes down more effectively than in Qatar. He didn't work hard enough to create space, and also check, to shake his Mariner makers. He is starting to win more hard balls, but can still be easily physically overpowered.
What is impressive is when Valadon is on the ball he is has such fast handling speed, he can receive and pass the ball on in tight spaces with little time on the ball. He can also execute pinpoint passes over range, having good vision to support his technique. He provided the assist (in little time and space) for Geria to score after Arzani dribbled around a few Mariners. Valadon also did some good things against Nix, but not enough of it.
Valadon can be quite a weapon against the Asian deep defensive blocks that currently trouble Arnie's first choice eleven ATM.

Valadon, Teague and Arzani have performed some slick pass and move sequences amongst them for Melb Vic - all good for the senior Socceroos.

I think it's great Valadon started a grand final and did well. These young players need 3 full seasons now to really craft themselves. I just hope the typical foreign signings don't come in to relegate them to the bench. We've got plenty of good young local talent doing just as well as imports or senior Australians moving home.
Matthews at Sydney is a great example of coming in so raw and making a great account of himself. Now that Alfred has left Brisbane and Perth have had a defensive clean out, I hope that U20 and even Joeys can start being added into these game day squads.
