And yet Ive followed an Australian club for nearly 50 years..... go figure eh?.

Yet you accused others of 'buying into support of the local professional game from 1977'. Go Figure.

No I accused others (mainly YOU) of NOT buying into the local game from 1977.... If you had perhaps Christian Vieri may have had a worthwhile competition to play in to match his level... bit OK, keep going down the same old racist path.... well never have what we want here because none of us can decide what it is we want... you just want everyone to follow you assimilated, amalgamated white Australia policy ramblings it seems.... nothing else matters eh?

I'm an ethnic too, just don't have the victim mentality, I'm all for calling it Uluru instead of Ayers, so no not white Australian policy for me.
We've been down this road before MONO.

Sure mate, whatever makes you feel better about things..... I'[m pleased for you that you dont have a victim mentality... its wonderful... well done.
And the "Uluru" thing, another great call... not sure of it's relevance but OK, well done you.  Happy to call a rock in the middle of the desert a name given to it by a group of people refusing to accept the Anglo name but your not willing to accepts soccer clubs founded by migrants having the same right to call their clubs by a "foreign name"... gottcha... it all makes perfect sense.

Interesting read!

Thanks for posting MCG.

Qatar basically has a team of mercenaries playing.

I've never been happy with Fornaroli playing, with no Aussie heritage but given the loss of Aussies, I'm pleased Souttar and Boyle have donned the green and gold.

Not sure Geraint Jones is good enough?

Indonesia have a diaspora of players with tenuous Indo heritage - many of who struggled with the Indo heat and humidity hen they played us.

So the Qatar NT - mercenaries lol, true though why are we so hell bent on the tradional path of yesterday, TBH we all don't know much of their history in football development and throw in whatever else being in the ME but I BET you any Qaratrian supporter in the stands appreciate seeing any player no matter their original COB having their NT shirt on and giving their all, thats all that matters.
Our '74 Roos mostly didn't have Aussie heritage - and so many proceedings Roos following them came from migrant backgrounds, some born here some not.
Fornaroli's situation TBH highlighted the dire need and desparation of having a striker, shame a bit too late BUT what IF it occurred when he was at his peak and scored some goals, everyone would be patting him on the back and saying how good that he got nationalised, infact hardly would have been mentioned.
Yet you were pleased Souttar/Boyle donned the green and gold, don't make sense mate.

I think IF there's a chance to get any good decent player that swears allegiance get into our NT that is better than what we have wouldn't care where they we're born.

I prefer we developed our own players rather go in the nationalise stage where we find players who are probably not good enough for their own national teams but we would take them because we don’t feel our players are good enough for us.

I know why it’s done around the world but if we have good players here then they should be given the opportunity whether they play overseas or in Australia.

Bruno is more Aussie than Souttar and Boyle are lol, so I don’t get that either.

I've often wondered how many players in England have Aussie eligibility through family connections. We've seen it a lot with Scottish players (Boyle/Souttar/Cummings) but not English players. That strikes me as odd. There's a lot of immigration between the two countries. I reckon there would be quite a few if you dug them up.

Good point.
