Stop taking over the threads with your fighting.
Let's end it once and for all here
It'll be three npl fans vs three a league fans in a debate
You each get a turn to argue over the three topics
NSL and a league
National teams
Promotion and relegation
We need a impartial referee to be the judge

Haha finally, our rambling does need its own thread. Would't say I'm an npl fan though...
Edit, should we call this thread 'Australian Football Thunder Dome'?

Hmmm - can't quite see it working out in this format. You can be an aleague fan for the purposes of this thread yarra. It would be amusing to hear the two sides arguing each other's case though in the tradition of walking a mile. I was always amused by an online signature block I saw - Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. Then it doesn't matter anymore. You are a mile away and have his shoes.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Melbcityguy I think you will find that most south fans aren't concerned with what is 'better' npl, nsl and a-league. We just want a chance for our team (and all member federation teams) to have the opportunity to play at the highest possible league in Australia (preferably having some sort of pro / rel).

What I don't get is if you say the a league is shite the crowds are crap the players are crap the league is plastic then how does that help get a second division then p and r? Really we want the a league and npl to be both successful off the pitch so some guy in a suit can try to implement it. But if they are both unpopular then of course there's no money in it

MCG my brief visits lurking in reddit doesn't agree with you that most football fans here want the changes, then again they are not huge numbers to base that assumption off as well. This will carry on whilst there is the divide and barrier stopping anything to move ahead in some shape or form aligning our 2 system model were stuck with. As it is right now BOTH won't see the success some post in here with hope, be it NST up and running for the better of development and competition enhances growth though alas no Club has the chance to move UP to APL - and TBH I really don't think thats gonna work in anycase, its like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. IMO it can't work together in any case, its one or the other sooner or later the way I see it for they both are hamstrung, the Australia Cup is proof IF we had a 2nd level Open Pro league imagine those games from R32 or where they implemented commencing those games. Our suits passed but more so the present have too many hurdles and factions to get inline, most bodies resist so a genuine ecosystem seems very unlikely which is a massive shame for the game's future and the huge supporter base beneath. Therefore we will always have one closed comp and the rest as it currently is, anyone thinks thats great hoping the top builds great so be it, its a unfortunate outlook and neglect of the genuine resource that lays there. In the meantime whilst we all get frustrated of our Roos and hope such and such steps up wouldn't it be great IF we doubled the amount of development and opportunities for the many young up and comers in the future.

Really we want the a league and npl to be both successful off the pitch so some guy in a suit can try to implement it. But if they are both unpopular then of course there's no money in it The crowds for the bigger A-League teams are pretty good (even though they have been on a downward trajectory for a few years now, but sort of correcting itself from covid) but they can be better. The league is always going to be considered 'plastic' because of a few things e.g. letting in 'expansion' teams over established member federation sides and creating derbies out of thin air (shit marketing rly), a section of the community will always see the A-League as this way because of how it was created, its very manufactured (not inherently bad) with the whole catchment area stuff and perceived protection of investment for large corporations over having pro / rel. The players are ok, it just kind of sucks that the league has to resort to making 'marque' (using that word in the loosest way) signings to attract people. HOWEVER very impressed with Roar signing Rafael Struick, thats the sort of players we need to be getting in the league. Saying this stuff doesn't help getting a 2nd division but it doesn't not help, sadly its not actually up to us. I want the A-League to be good and think it can be, but the people who are running it (in my opinion) don't really care about Australian football.

Their not into having proper discussions about Australian football (generally), its mainly shit memes and A-League suck offs, no real opinions just agreeance. At least nplvic goers know how crap some aspects of the league are (I could talk about it more than whats wrong with the A-League)...

The NPL is an even worse dumpster fire and the NSL??? Jesus Christ the NSL was horrendous... Just plain horrendous... I cant remember ever hearing anyone say a good thing about the league or Soccer Australia back then.. I certainly wont...

Im on here every day yelling and screaming and fighting for a better league and pyramid structure.... one that includes ALL clubs and ALL participants. Meanwhile..... from the other side of the fence? "Lets all get along" "Why cant we await till the Aleague is financially viable before even pretending to do anything about the the 99% of football outside it" "But the NSL was shit so why should we want the Aleague to be better" "Fuck the effniks, they don't belong in this country"...... A quick question for ppl on the thread, with City group and RedBull colonising teams all over the world it was always inevitable that one of them would get a team in Australia. Would a RedBull team be any different if they were the ones to buy an A-League licence?

Support whoever you wanna support thats my point. If City is your club, City is your club.... Just realise that they are NOT interested in the welfare of Australian soccer and only exist as a means for profiting off an initial investment by a foreign ownership group...

+xStop taking over the threads with your fighting. It's the internet mate. It's just one big fight. Doesn't matter where you go, people are fighting. None of it is real though. Chances are that if you ran into anyone on this forum in a pub somewhere, you'd probably get along just fine, regardless of any disagreements you may have had on here. Scrolling is your friend. Just train yourself to scroll past anything you're not interested in. If you are walking along the footpath and you see a massive dog turd, you don't step in it, you avoid it. Sure you'd rather not see it all, but these things are easily avoidable. Plenty of good discussions happen on here in between the usual back and forth. Engage in the ones your interested in and scroll past the rest. Off season in this country is about as boring as it gets. These threads are bound to get filled will nonsense. Here's something to think about. In an alternate timeline, South Melbourne was successful in buying Melbourne Heart and you and Mono are both at Lakeside cheering on the same team.

Do SM fans become a league fans and stop campaigning for a nst? They would probably say that would never happen, but since sm have been the one kicking up the biggest noise regarding an nst maybe south melbournes loss will eventually be australia's gain

I don't think we would become A-League fans considering we aren't npl fans, I would still campaign for a 2nd division but I cant say the same for others.
