bovs wrote:GloryPerth wrote:Just want to ask/discuss with you guys about last home game - My bro and I entered but arranging with my bro late I only had my own member ticket - so let him through with that and stood in-line to purchase my own. Anyway, the queue at Gate 3 was like 200 deep at it's longest, roughly counting AND people said the queue at the main gate was even longer. I technically didn't receive my tickets, enter the venue, till the 30-35th minute mark and even then there were a good 50 or so behind me. I witnessed people leaving due to frustration and impatience too - no doubt more turned away too. I'm not a regular attendee at Glory games so is this a regular occurrence or was the better than average crowd in the irregularly scheduled Friday evening game a surprise so caught the organisation off-guard? One wonders what kind of crowd could've been accommodated had there been more registers available to process the 'walk ups'? As there was plenty of activity around the ground, well into that first half! I dare speculate, in a perfect world, another 500 fans, atleast, could've been accommodated into the ground, due to interest at the gate, if not more! If that's one thing Sage and co need to look at, it's that! But I guess there's only so much Glory can control and it's an issue with venue management Allia and/or Town of Vincent?! But the capacity to cater for more 'walk ups' at the gate should be a bigger priority if the demand is such at most home games. Valuable fans/potential fans are being lost. Sure - we can blame many of them for not pre-booking online, but that's the nature of people and infact Glory being based there, their well known home, should be a general attraction to walk ups and last minute decision makers. As in like the good ole Snowball effect, the more there, the greater the crowd, the more interested piqued and more who'd like to get in on the show! That is what was happening last Friday evening! More tills, ticket processing, somehow! Even improvised? Have something! There MUST be a way to sort this, even with permanent investment in upgrading the gate capacities? They upgraded the venue itself - it's high time they upgraded the entrances and their capacity too! As it's clear Glory are losing valuable fans due to needless technical issues! I'll probably be at the Melbourne game next week. GFU have are having a tour of duty there so should be larger than normal....plus we have those western sydney perth glory ultras;) *Calling EG! Calling EG!*:d Edited by GloryPerth: 21/1/2014 07:58:34 PM This is definitely something that needs to be sorted out... No longer being a season ticket holder, and not having a printer (plus I only live 5 minutes from the ground) the last 2 games I have decided to just buy tickets at the gate, resulting in the following 2 experiences: 1) rocked up 2hr before kick-off to buy ticket then go to pub for a drink. Found out gates and hence ticket box did not open until 1 hour 30 mins before KO... ok a pain but at least we were about 8th in the queue... once it came around to gate open time it still took another 20 minutes before ticket box opened, and then took 20 minutes to process the 8 people in front of us in the queue!!! Ended up not going to pub because it was only 35 minutes to KO by the time we got tickets 2) arrived 20 minutes late and arrived to find massive queues still out the front. Ticket processing ridiculously slow again. Got in just in time to see Berisha's red card A long time ago, you used to be able to walk straight up to the entrance gates... pay someone in cash and receive a ticket stub as you went into the ground. Now it seems EVERYTHING must go through Ticketmaster... and it takes forever. Credit card purchases have to be sent to TM for processing and then you have to sign to say you received your ticket... why do they make it so complicated?! If anyone has the ear of the club and can point out what a frustration this is, and that it's definitely a turn-off for fans and in particular new attendees who may already be disgusted with the high prices... it definitely could be improved massively. In fact, it could be improved just by going back to how it used to be done (used to be quicker and easier to get into the ground even when there were 15k crowds than it is today). Just tweeted by PGFC; Quote:Perth Glory FC @PerthGloryFC 1h TICKETS: Due to overwhelming demand on match days there will be 4 additional tix booths open for the #PERvMVC game to reduce queues. FFS sake change the feckin record. Ryan has stated on several occasions he want to go back to reading at the end of the season. Is it that hard for you to understand? Firstly, what has returning to parent club at the end of a loan got to do with playing out your loan to the end of the season now at current club? Secondly, Glory trying to get rid of him happened only last week. It's recent. LinkThirdly, it wasn't several times, he mentioned Reading once, in October, about gaining experience here to try and crack the first team. LinkLastly, If you noticed, I did put Ryan as leaving at the end of season, and on loan, and little chance of the club re-signing him, so my comprehension skills are fine thanks, though I suggest you take your own advice.

GloryB wrote:Re: Wouldn't think the IR contract would be the problem, more that he wouldn't get much game time this season, unless Gallas goes down again (which is of course possible). Glory probably want him for next year, but don't want to pay him to (probably) sit on the bench this year. Madaschi may also be concerned about not getting games too.
Also, I think I read that Glory thought they could extend Sernas' loan deal through next year if they wanted. So, I assume the plan is to see how he is and if he's good enough, sign him on for next year, esp if Smeltz does leave.
If his agent is half-decent (should be since he organised Asia) then there should be interest from other clubs, though Sydney did sign Bosnar. Only thing is there's a bit of a market influx of defenders at the moment. Beauchamp isn't playing, Neill, Oggers, Dino, Mullen, Marrone all want to come back so there's plenty of options for clubs wanting quality ALeague-ers. Inb4 game only gets 9k crowd :D Yeah, Burns (or someone) or someone Injured Griffiths only after he signed the contract lol. Hopefully it's not a Gallas "one-week" injury. Thought all the ITC trouble would have been with Marinkovic, not Sernas.

Are we actually getting something right? Amazing! Good news I guess! Key phrase is, 'due to overwhelming demand on match days', so they've taken note of the trend and are 'responding' or 'reacting' as ATE suggests. Somebody else on Twitter said last game had 2,500 walk ups or some such, so Glory definitely needed to do something! Hopefully this new measure CAN address the 'walk up' demand better and indeed, hopefully that walk up demand sustains and isn't tapering off, due to 'bad past experience'. If it's as strong as ever, then atleast Glory should be half-prepped and the crowd will be another 'good one' and, in-turn, more may consider pre-booking future tickets on-line or even become members, via 3-match passes or what not? Hopefully they have some advertising at the gates etc... advertising the packs on offer and instructing people how to do so, with the web address for Glory and Ticketmasters or what not. Afterall that's what Brewer suggested people 'should' be doing, in his immediate reaction to this issue! ;) AndyToddsElbow wrote:hotrod wrote:Shanagar wrote: Absolutely we are, we're caning now. Edited by benjo: 31/1/2014 02:25:32 AM The club said mid week the paperwork had come through, thought it was injury why he isn't playing? So how long is Sciola out for? Any mention on how bad it is for Gallas? We can't catch a break. Hopefully both Sciola and Sernas start next week and Griffiths makes an appearance. Sernas was good. Risdon is finding some form. Clisby was good except that monumental fuck up. He is so hot and cold. He has confidence and seems comfortable on the ball but he is prone to massive brain fades.

So Burns with another card means he's definitely out this time, yeah? Please slot Rostyn straight in.
I suppose with Clisby at least he's not Grumpy Griffiths from a few seasons back (currently at CCM)
Sernas good strike, definitely.

I think Burns is out, but I guess we'll have to see. Although McGarry had another poor game, as he did last week . Burns actually worked a little harder going forward than normal, but all too little too late.

First half - diabolical, up there with the worst football this season. Just keep passing back, back, back, back, back, back, till we can get it to Danny, who hoofs in the general Smeltz direction, and so on. DDS is about the only player that knows how to put the ball on the ground, and he can't get a gig. It is shocking, and we're light years behind most teams when it comes to passing the ball around. And Burns - why is it so difficult to man up on someone? Finkler and Rogic (did not realise he was so big) had an absolute field day, largely unopposed. It was like there were witches hats out there, it is so frustrating. Second half - marginally better. Sernas looked good, mostly because he knows how to use his body to protect he ball, especially against taller opponents

Pretty much agree with you Shanagar, although they tried to pass a bit more at times in 2nd half. Am a bit concerned that Kenny is mainly focusing on getting in players who will 'do it for him', rather than imposing a style. Pre-match comments from him included: Quote:"We've got six new players and if those boys all catch fire, it will be party time," Lowe said. "If they don't, I'll be back to engineering." Now its true that quality players will help, and Kenny seems to have got in some good ones. But he should be trying to transition (even in part) to his preferred style now, not just shut up shop and hope that a player will get onto a loose ball and bang it in. There were a few glimpses 2nd half, but it looked more like the players were just freewheeling, and trying to make it up as they went along. We don't have to go all Barcelona, but the lack of variety in our game is a big concern. Even Danny Vukovich savaged the way we played first half when he was interviewed at half time. Its like we are not even trying to use our midfield. Smeltz looked very frustrated out there having to constantly attempt to deal with (inaccurate) long ball. Anyway, hoping some positive structure will come, as promised by Kenny when he "has his players". This news may help in that regard (from the West): Quote:Meanwhile, Glory midfielder Isaka Cernak has attracted interest from rival clubs and could be released from his contract in the coming days.

What rival clubs could possibly want a player that missed most of the season then got a handful of games for "a fair go" in which he was dire?
I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth though, take him!
