Interesting - Eamon, Brian and Melanie are the three leaders this stage - voting very close, Brian 15%, Eamon and Melanie 16%. Sadly the ones with no pics, perhaps preferred to keep some anonymity, have amongst the least votes. Seems Biscuit and Bovs are both a chance, though Bovs may need a few more votes as he sits on 5% with Abid.
BTW I presume Bovs and Biscuit are the only two from that list who lurk here, on the FFT Forums - or are there others?
Seems a good mix amongst the candidates - like some coming from active support, some from family stand side, long-term supporters both aligned and not-aligned to active support, younger men, parents, some females, older males, one or two involved in 'coverage' of PG and local football, like Eamon.
Also, anyone know that Abid Imam? He says 'In 2013, I completed postgrad studies in Football Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute Barcelona'?! Sounds impressive, then ends with the wordplay 'made a bid for Abid' - I wonder if that literally means that's a bid on behalf of him? Given he says he studied in Barcelona last year, I presume he's still based in Perth?!
Voted for Biscuit, due to indirect peer pressure above (:p) and also his valued NPL updates here in this thread. Sorry Bovs - infact didn't realise Bovs was one of the candidates till visiting this thread after.

I voted for Eamon - A Glory supporter however he won't hold back when given the opportunity to give the club constructive criticism, this is what the club needs imo.

Eamon's unwavering hatred for the Edwards clan and denial that anything good came from his reign makes it hard for me to vote for him. Very knowledgable but seems to have a few screws loose and if his shares these opinions with current board members what's the point. Is anyone voting for number 1 fan to make it in? Surely that would be a mockery of the whole system despite the PC feel good points it might score

Also voted for Biscuit, didn't realise / know Bovs was in the running too.
Personally think Eamon is a poor choice. Views too close to the current monkeys running the club. Could be the reason why they think the fans are on side.

I voted for Bovs. Sorry biscuit.
Eamon looks like he'll get it. Was probably the very last one I'd vote for. This is a guy who believes Alistair Edwards' whole "We want to sign young, talented players from WA for the Glory" was all a cover, just so he could sign his sons  And that man is leading the vote count...

Promises much, delivers little. Spends more time on social media than actually running the club it seems.

Should've kept going with my FourFourTwo blog and maybe more of you would've known the Bovs - Bovell link!!!
I was very much in two minds about putting my name forward for the committee... but actually decided nominating might be a good way to present my ideas about where I think Perth Glory should sit in relation to the entire WA Football Community and indeed the wider Sports Community. Hopefully the information I sent through during the nomination process might've achieved that whether I make the final cut or not.
I have to admit, I'm surprised that so few of the nominees have expressed interest in representing the interests of WA football... most seem very much "Glory first, football second" based on the blurbs. As I've said many times, unless Perth Glory finds a way to engage West Australians beyond the Glory-til-I-die brigade they'll struggle to ever get back to where they were in the 90s, let alone go beyond that (as has happened in virtually every other state since the A-League started).
The fact that of the 60-80 amateur footballers with which I play only about 10-20 would be bothered to pay money to watch Perth Glory shows that there's a massive disjoint between Glory and people who love football in this state. THAT is what I'd be looking for the club to address.

Fix the club first, since that's in their direct control, then fix relations with the FW community. But yeah, too many GTID members on the committee and that perspective may be lost. The popularity contest doesn't make for good viewing either, atm. :(

Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Aaron Innis.
I would like a position on the committee to ensure there is transparency between the club and supporters. I am not in any active member groups, I am just your regular member who goes to the game with friends and family. I want to see the club back where it belongs, and to do this all members need representation. I’m not here to be negative or super critical. I just want the transparency.
Aaron Innis Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Michael Bovell.
I nominated myself on the basis of 1) not being affiliated with any prior fan groups/holding allegiances and 2) wanting to see Perth Glory run in a way representing the interests of the WA football community beyond the narrow group of week-in-week-out diehards.
I genuinely believe this is the only way for Glory to expand its supporter base, which is critical to attaining a sustainable future and would intend to represent those ideals to the club! Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Simon Ward
Hi, thanks for the opportunity to expand on why I would like to be a member of the Supporters Committee and why people should consider voting for me.
I have been a supporter from the first game. Actually went to school with the Navens (they were in the year below me) and Tom Maras (Glory’s first keeper). So I have seen the ups and downs of a club that is the only A League club with any real history. Although retired from amateur and masters football, both my kids play at Curtin University Junior Football Club and I am the coach of one of the teams there. I also get along to NPL and State League games (Glory and Curtin) as much as I can.
The sense of disengagement that many supporters are feeling, even those that still go to every home game is really noticeable and the club has to address it. This committee is a first step, but it will only work if there are people willing to bring ideas, challenge the club’s administration where necessary and be a link back to supporters. I have been involved at committee level on a number of clubs and organisations and that experience should be useful.
This committee and its members will need to provide means for supporters to communicate directly with them, or otherwise there is a danger that they will just be 8 supporters representing their own views. If successful, I’m really keen to establish this mechanism, so that we can properly represent the supporter base. Happy to answer any questions people might have.
Cheers. Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Brian Doherty.
I nominated for the group to give a voice to the active fans. We proved last season that working together with the club, works much better than the other clubs who have chosen conflict with the Active Fans. I want our fans to be acknowledged up there as the best in the country.
This committee may or may not have a massive impact on the running of the club and the issues surrounding the team, the owners etc. But I believe we can make the match day expirience better, that is my goal. Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Eamon Duffy.
From my point of view, I am seeking election so that hopefully I can try and have some input into changing the culture at the club. I will be objective and honest in my dealings. As I said in my statement I will not be just a yes man and will not be looking out just for one section of the supporters but for the overall well being of the club. I will also report matters accurately. Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Colin Sharland.
Should I be successful in my nomination I shall concentrate on Social matters for the supporters and members. For example, Members Bar - opening times and access to ground. PG Fun Days, Pre Season Matches and getting fans there. Bring back pre match entertainment and the like. I shall leave the bigger issues to those on the committtee more experienced in other matters. In the past we have helped with TIFO's and can do a lot more with more Social Club events. I'll leave it up to the voters, this will be their chance to let us know if they'd like a social side to the club or not. Cheers and good luck to all nominees. Quote:A message from Supporters Committee candidate Amanda Talma-Speedy.
Hi all. My "Vote for Me" Piece on the website covers most of it.
What I can add is that I am also a member of the New Perth Stadium Sports Fans Users Group where I was selected along with 29 other avid sports fans out of around 500, to be involved in making our new stadium the best it can be from a fans perspective. I went there & represented both the Glory and Eagles, as members of both clubs. I'm also a former Force & WACA member but have had to give them away due to family commitments. The Stadium Group was an enjoyable experience that has led me to nominate for this Committee.
I believe I am well equipped to make a valuable contribution, as I am not afraid to voice my opinions. I also am able to represent a variety of core groups as part of the charter of the committee formation.
I'm a 40 yr old Female Member, & I represent both Families and Active Supporters. Sat for many yrs in the Family Stand & have brought my kids, nieces & nephews to games. My 2 sons play or have played soccer. I am a Shed Member these days. Right side in the very back row if you wonder where I stand!
Went to Brisbane for the Grand Final. Schedule my life around when we play, & hate to miss a game. In fact for the last home game my Aunty (and fellow candidate Helen Talma) & I literally raced from Subi Oval as soon as the Eagles finished, & managed to catch the second half of Glory. So if you were wondering why 2 chicks were wearing Eagles guernseys that night....now you know! I thought we would have only got there for the last 20min or so but we still made the effort to go, and went & sung our hearts out!
Like all of you I'm keen to see us back to the "Glory Days", where we led the way on and off the pitch. I would also like to see an end to the animosity between supporter groups. I just want everyone to be focussed on supporting our club, and encouraging more people to become Active in their support.
I hope people will consider voting for me. I'm confident I would do a great job, as would many of my fellow nominees. However, we don't need the entire committee stacked with members of the known "supporter groups". We need a few representatives who don't drink down the pub! Support the genuine "average" supporter....VOTE FOR ME!!! Quote:A message from Supporters Committee Candidate Mel White: What I Stand For Like many of you, I have been a fan of PGFC since their inception. During this time I have become acquainted with many of the regular fans and I am representative of the ‘average’ supporter. I regularly discuss Club matters with a variety of individuals and groups in a manner that is both proficient and personable either via social media or face to face. I am well respected, liked and known across the supporter base and therefore able to act as an objective liaison between the fans and PGFC. Like you, I am passionate about PGFC. I see a great future for the Club and am optimistic that a Fan Committee will become an asset to the Club. One of my interests lay in developing better relationships between fans and the various oversight bodies at NIB. I understand there is not a lot that can be done in relation to FFA sanctions however, last season demonstrated there is no consistency to the way in which people are treated should ‘security’ deem them to be behaving inappropriately. Fans receive no evidence from the oversight body that they have committed an offence, have no right of reply, no natural justice and there is no review of matters. Fans are sanctioned for petty matters at the discretion of a few gun ho security people. I hope, if elected, that as a Committee we can come to a better arrangement whereby fans are not persecuted on heresy and rather, hard evidence needs to be supplied to justify sanctions. Another area I am interested in is improving the match day experience for fans and players. There has been a lot of talk about the rift between the Shed and the Terrace. This was just a natural progression. Football culture in Australia is influenced by numerous other leagues and this is reflected in Perth. It was only a matter of time that the respective styles of support separated. The arrangement of supporter groups at either end of the pitch only aims to improve the atmosphere in NIB. Watching fans towards the end of last season who had never been involved in active support join in on the terrace, adult and children alike, was fantastic. I would like to see active support encouraged further and would like to look into ways to encourage fans to join active supporters in developing banners, TIFOS etc. as well participating on the terrace. I am aware there is a lot of cynicism surrounding both active support and this consultative committee but I am forever the optimist and will not let the negativity of others effect me. Finally, and most importantly, as a fan representative my role will be to represent you, the fans and members of our great club PGFC. To me, this means having an open door policy and taking your questions, reactions, thoughts, suggestions etc. to the Committee and having them addressed. I have no plans to sit back and be fed the Club line. It is not in my nature to do this as many of you already know. However, I do know how to operate in an environment that may be problematic. My professional employment is in the area of community engagement and development; I do this for a living. I have won awards for my skills in this area due to my objectivity, compassion and ability to problem solve…diplomatically. Should I be elected, I intend to represent the fans of Perth Glory FC objectively and passionately. Thank you. Lowe off to England to look for replacements. ](*,) Smeltz was wasted here. In saying that though, while he's a great player, he's not the awesome player he was previously. You are right though, any other club will give him some decent service and he'll still score a bucketload. Lowe off to England? I am aware that race does not dictate football ability but jesus, you would think after 10 years of scouting in the UK and mediocre performances, we would choose to expand our horizons beyond that area...

Happy to be rid of Smeltz. He may get fit and find his feet, but he may not. Better to cut a player slightly too early than too late and end up with a player who demands a start but doesn't deliver (enough).

Same, injury plagued season, and in the season that Edwards took over as Interim, I just remember him missing numerous sitters.

Dammit - Messi signs on for $27m per year (+ a few incentives) for the next 4 years. No word whether that was before or after Kenny had a chance to put in Glory's bid. All is not lost though, as in 4 years time he will have lobbed into the lower end of Glory's age requirements - just. So Kenny, bide your time on that one.

... and here's where Glory are currently at: Of the top 32 players in the competition, Glory's only entry is the 10th best midfielder who has never played for the club. (and we still reckon he's a striker).
Hyundai A-League player of the year Thomas Broich of Brisbane Roar has topped the fan voting for the 32-player preliminary squad for the FOXTEL A-League All Stars match, Football Federation Australia has revealed today. Broich was the fans’ top pick, narrowly ahead of Alessandro del Piero, the captain of the 2014 FOXTEL A-League All Stars.
The top 32 players in order of fan voting for each position are:
Goalkeepers Eugene Galekovic – Adelaide United Michael Theo – Brisbane Roar Ante Covic – Western Sydney Wanderers
Defenders Michael Zullo – Adelaide United Ivan Franjic – Brisbane Roar Matt Smith – Brisbane Roar Josh Rose – Central Coast Mariners Storm Roux – Central Coast Mariners Aziz Behich – Melbourne Heart Sebastian Ryall – Sydney FC Sasa Ognenovski – Sydney FC Matthew Spiranovic – Western Sydney Wanderers Nikolai Topor-Stanley – Western Sydney Wanderers
Midfielders Marcelo Carrusca – Adelaide United Fabio Ferreira – Adelaide United Luke Brattan – Brisbane Roar Thomas Broich – Brisbane Roar Matt McKay – Brisbane Roar Gui Finkler – Melbourne Victory Mark Milligan – Melbourne Victory Tom Rogic – Melbourne Victory Ali Abbas – Sydney FC Youssouf Hersi – Perth Glory
Forwards Alessandro Del Piero Sergio Cirio – Adelaide United Bernie Ibini – Sydney FC David Williams – Melbourne Heart Besart Berisha – Melbourne Victory Archie Thompson – Melbourne Victory James Troisi – Melbourne Victory Adam Taggart – Newcastle Jets Tom Juric – Western Sydney Wanderers
