WFMB: the system is getting better.
So 5 years ago, Mrs v4 got a letter in the mail saying "be at this court at this date for jury duty". Turns out that was the day we were flying out for our honeymoon. So she had to send some form back, inc receipt of flights or something, and she was allowed to skip it. But it was a couple of weeks of internal nerves for both of us as we didn't know how flexible the system was going to be. She ended up getting a letter a bit later saying "you're gonna get called up soon though" but we haven't heard anything since.
Cue me opening my mailbox recently and there's a letter to me addressed by the sheriff (cue nerves). I rip it open and to my surprise, it's a letter telling me that I am going to be a juror some time between March this year and March next year. It then tells me to go to a website where I can confirm my details etc, but most importantly I can input dates in the next year that will be inconvenient for me to be on the jury and so they can avoid calling me then. You're only allowed 2 date periods, max of 2 weeks per period, but it definitely came in handy for one time I know I can't do it already this year.
To go from the shitty system 5 years ago, to such forewarning and flexibility now, I'm super stoked with how the system has improved.
Cue me doing my best Pauly Shore impersonation as Jury Foreman

Bought a quickpick on Saturday lunch time (after the rod / reel win) for the $21 million superdraw (I never play lotto) but my trifecta was the mudcrabs and not the lotto win. Can't win 'em all I guess.

Cue me doing my best Pauly Shore impersonation as Jury Foreman  Don't get too excited mate. First time I was on a jury it was for a case where a guy was accused of interfering with his own daughter. He was a complete dick but the prosecutor was hopeless and the case was weak. We kept getting sent out while there was legal argument and then we would come back and the case would move on without the key issue in question ever being explained. Long story short, we had two reserve jurors who got discharged when we went off to deliberate. One of them asked me to give her a call afterwards to let her know the verdict etc. We had to find the guy not guilty because there wasn't enough evidence. Rang the reserve juror and told her. She told me that court officer who took them out had told her that the guy was already in prison for interfering with his other daughter and that most of the evidence against him was linked to that and it was considered prejudicial so that's why we weren't told. Actually vomited. So be careful what you wish for.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually excited to be on a jury, I was just stoked to see a clearly-flawed system has at least improved in 5 years.. Wrt Jury Duty - I fully realise that I'm going to be hearing the stories of, and passing judgement on, the actual scumbags of this world (lawyers). That is a horrendous story and I hope whatever panned out, the guy had his fate deal him some pretty shitty things after it all.

My job place is actually a better place for it as the negative air he carried around him is no more, and our general manager who is also now our production manager is a complete 180 from my old boss. Asks questions, gives us informstion, gives feedback and gIves us props when we do good.

My depression has actually gotten better but i know its a long road . I think having andre being the production manager as well as our general manager has helped. As he was and is jovial when he deals with us. Never ever brings management disagreements to us on the floor.

WFMB: Flat Earthers and their adherents on youtube. Just awesome comments underneath the vids. (The spelling capabilities of the commenters is fantastic too.) Every conceivable conspiracy is covered. (NASA is fake, the ISS is fake, satellites are fake, boats disappearing over the horizon are fake, there's a dome (Simpson's style) over the earth, rockets that launch that then hit said dome. Brilliant stuff. The mental gymnastics they have to perform to believe in it has to be read to be believed.

WFMB: Arsenal fans. Before the FA Cup Semi they were telling me 'I hope we don't win because then Arsene will stay', then they win and are giving it large! When they went years without a trophy and were finishing above us it didn't matter because they were making Champions League, now we haven't been top all season yet are bottlers and because we are second and not top it doesn't matter if we finish above them.

WFMB: The Ken Burns documentaries on Netflix, bloody fair dinkum historical viewing
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

I was talking to a mate last night while watching the aus v saudi game and thought how big the coverage of football has changed now. Sure weve got the usual haters BUT... just under 12 years ago all we had to watch was the premier league, which was on foxtel which was alot more out of reach back then. Now weve got 3 bein channels which are 90% football, 3 club channels, eurosports has barca tv, villa tv, benfica, fox has socceroos games, espn has internationals and cup games... then on a fta basis which is the biggest change, 9/9go has socceroos and every june/july club games (7 has latched onto this in the past) abc has just murdered a club game and have the w-league (if i recall) sbs with premier league and cup finals from Europe, 10 has the a-league... I love watching football...
That's whay floats my boat.
