When interent sites, newspapers television the governing body no one promotes the game under the a-league a crowd of over 2000 is massive!
So when teams like wollongong & Olympic reach crowds over that with no media imagine what they can do with it?
Should au.fourfourtwo.com not be doing match reports and match previews on the NSW Premier league its the second biggest competition in the country i thought that is what a website liek this is for? Promoting and talking about the game? correct me if im wrong wollongong only got 150-200 to there home games last year

A westie would say it's down to West Sydney being the epicenter of football in this country, but i'd put a tenner on the fact that the "ethnics" who currently root for Olympic and United, and all those Ethnic based teams won't suddenly jump up and start supporting rovers. Well if Rovers go out and show these 'ethnics' that they are a club for the community like they will then they will get the old NSL supporters on board. Yeah, but i can't see all the Croats, Serbs, Greeks, Macedonians, etc etc etc etc etc who live out ------> that way all suddenly coming together and Uniting under the one team, with a cup of tea, and a quick sorry and pat on the back. sure not all will, but some will. That's only a minority though. Most of the oldies get along go too the club together. Most of the young ones get along it's just the small group that think they are fucking heroes and have to hate each other. The two countries get along now aswell.
Plus that doesn't happen in the state league because the two sets of fans are locked out because the NSW Police and Football NSW want too seem like they are being safe when it's just stupid.

I like my state league games. You buy stuff from there, you know you're helping your club... I just wish the same was true of the A-League :(
I agree to a point. I do go to the occassional state league top of the table game too and I do enjoy my 2 souvlakis and a few cold beers while I'm there. But you are talking to the converted and I think I'm also talking to the converted by the sound of it. What about the uncorverted though? How is this game going to attract new fans to the state leagues while the overwhelming impression out there among the existing A-League followers is that state league soccer, after 5 years of the A-League revolution, is still mono-ethnic club soccer? How are we going to entice them to come to the games? By tempting them with tasty souvlaki, great polish sausage, kebabs and hot chips? How is it ok for me or anybody else like me to express delight at the pleasure I get out of the spicy snacks and cold drinks I enjoy at state league games when I know deep inside that the reason there's only 200 people at the game is because fans of a nationality other than that of the club I follow feel excluded and won't come? I look around me mate, I see the same old faces I have been seing all my life at these sort of games, people of the same nationality as me and my state league team and I feel sad this type of mono-ethnic soccer is still promoted in 2009 like it's a good thing for our game and its future. And then we'll turn around again in a few weeks time and blame everybody else for the shambles the state leagues are in except the real culprit. It's really sad. TBH, I just think that people don't go to the state leagues because it's not 'the best'. For the same reason many aussies don't go to the A-League because it's not the EPL. I took some mates down to an ECU match or two, and they liked their chips and gravy and whatnot, but at the end of the day they didn't come back because "it's shit". Now, I don't agree with that, but then again I'm a lover of the game no matter what level. I'd watch (and will watch, soon enough) Conference matches in the UK if they were on near me. State leagues suffer the same affliction that the WAFL, the Skywest Basketball League, and the WACA Grade Cricket League suffer over here. As far as I'm concerned (in WA anyway) it's not mono-ethnic cultures that are keeping people away from the 2nd tier matches... it's the fact that they're second tier matches! WACA attendance for the Aussies v South Africa in a one-dayer? ~20,000 people. WACA attendance for WA vs Victoria in a one-dayer? ~2,000 if you're lucky WACA Smokefree League attendance? Maybe 50 plus some officials?

i cant believe people actually think that these teams should be in the b-league.
the b-league should be franchised in the same way as the a-league. only way it would work.
sorry to burst your bubble. but these teams deserve 4th level of the future australian pyramid at best.

That's a decent crowd though owing it to being a big game- grand final and all. Typical crowd at my local club (ECU Joondalup) would probably be approx 200? 300? Someone like Perth SC would get more, but other teams would get less.

moderate read the posts sir.
1 - how can you call first grade squads grass roots? are you feeling ok?
2 - a match preview of the big games and match reviews of the big games not a weekly preview and round up from footballnsw website? that is not journalism thats copy the link? surely fourfourtwo is not that busy in the a-league offseason?
If you ban me for the post than so be it but it is a fair call, shows you have no respect for your readers and their opinions

How do you then expect the game to progress?
I agree with yoru figues of 100 - 700
