Speaking of the U19's champions cup...does anyone know how the competitors for that are decided? I had Liverpool reserves in the first season and they haven't played since.

Just beat Rangers 3-2 for the last game of the calender year....
At halftime I had 6 clear cut chances to 1... and was up 2-1. Ended up just winning 3-2. 24 shots to 10, 10 on target to 3, 7 clear cut to 2, 65% of the ball... and still needed a late winner. Would have raged sooo hard if I didn't win.

I started a new game with Sydney. I immediately sold McFlynn. I sold Makela and let Moriyasu go for free. I brought in an Argentinian defensive midfielder, Javier Villareal, and a Korean centre back, Lee Won-Jae. Halfway through the season we are sitting in fourth 12 points behind Heart. The team has really struggled to put the ball in the net from open play. Lee Won-Jae is my top goalscorer with 8 out of our 17 goals while Beauchamp has been doing his bit for the opposition with 5 own goals so far. I probably will be letting Bosschaart go at the end of the season. He always reacts very negatively, so he is always in an awful mood and hasn't been playing well.

So fucken proud. Well, the first half performance was absolutely atrocious, but with about 30 to go I went to 3-1-2-1-2 () And just threw everybody forward and we just kept coming forward in waves. Every counter attack I had like 5 players breaking forward. Three good goals too. I went ballistic when we got the winner  I got a 4.5mil bid from Sevilla for Kayal... I dunno what to do!

Thats amazing, Villa is a beast though, I had him at United in FM10 and he hit 54 goals in 50 games in all competitions, 19 goals in 11 appearances in Europe was a highlight. Together he and Rooney scored 99 between them and assisted 31. We went that season undefeated in all but the League Cup which I threw anyway to cut down fixture congestion

Is it just me or do United and Chelsea really struggle in the EPL. ALways seem to be stuck around 5th-7th for me.

And I found it was easier to use those slots on defenders because talented midfielders and strikers are easier to find with EU passports. Hulk costs big bugs, but he's worth it and has EU passport because of his time at Porto. Bryan Ruiz will be available cheap, being at Fulham. Why did the belgian league have to change their nation rules? Stupid requirement for consecutive days in the country.

Taking a break from my Wrexham save and wanted to play as a 'big club' so started a save with Bayern Munich, so far sitting top 17 points clear of second with 7 games to go... Just has the quarter finals draw for the champions league and got drawn with Inter... But two of the other match ups looked quite interesting...
Man U vs Chelsea Barca vs Real Madrid

Strange. You need to beef up that defence a little IMO. And your midfield can't tackle for shit.

I expect my team tohave between 40 and 50% accuracy most days. If they can't do that then generally I'm annoyed. Obviously you need players with better finishing and composure. It's interesting. My teams regularly have about 30-35% accuracy, but I've never had problems with scoring. For example, our average across 51 games so far this season: 17 Shots 6 On Target 2.3 Goals

afromanGT wrote:You need to beef up that defence a little IMO. And your midfield can't tackle for shit. Yeah, Montolivo isn't really an ideal DM and Gourcuff is much better as a CAM than a deeper lying attacking midfielder/playmaker. I could play a 4-2-3-1 with Gourcuff at CAM and Rossi out on the wing but Rossi's been brilliant up front and I'd much rather keep him where he is and I also don't have that many top quality DMs to be given the defensive role next to the more attacking Montolivo. Will look to sell in January to free up some funds for a quality DM which I couldn't get round to in the summer As for the defense, it's been quite solid actually. Douglas has been a great signing from Twente, while he's been solid, he's actually scored about three own goals since signing in January  but none have impacted any results and he's more than made up for it scoring 6 at the right end. At the moment things are going very well in my second season and we sit top, one point ahead of Bilbao (anyone else notice they're a fantastic side?) after 7 games so I'm not looking to change anything immediately. Both Barca and Real have made bumpy starts and Barca sit in 3rd with Real in 5th.

If I were you, I'd bring in a DM that can actually tackle and a more solid CB and line up: -------------Rossi----------- Reyes-------------------Turan -----Monto (DLP)-Gourcuff(AP) -----------DM (eg M'Vila)---- maxwell--Subotic-Godin-VDW
Bilbao become very hard to beat once Munain develops and forms a partnership with Llorente.

Bilbao become very hard to beat once Munain develops and forms a partnership with Llorente. Douglas has been performing better than Godin, and Piatti is banging in the goals and was very impressive for Valencia last year and I'd put him in for either Reyes or Turan so they're the changes I'd make to that. Thing is it would be very hard to drop Falcao, it's either his or Montolivo's head on the chopping block if I bring in a quality DM and both are very hard to drop. Also I don't like that formation, just never been able to have success with it. It would be a 4-2-3-1 with a middle three like this, -----------Gourcuff----------- -------New DM----Montolivo---- The DM would be given a defensive role while Montolivo would play a supporting DLP role. This is just from years of playing with Atletico, what worked best for me. There's obviously more than one way to skin a cat.
I found in FM11 that Godin was almost completely useless.

None of my defenders has been overly outstanding, what's putting him in the team ahead of Dominguez and Miranda is the fact that he's scoring goals for me. And yeah, I appreciate the advice from a man who has a lot of experience with Atletico :p :)

Dominguez can be an absolutely superb stopper if you give him enough first team football. Went on to captain spain in FM11.

This season 402 shots, 168 on target, 64 goals from 22 games. Averaging 18.3 shots, 7.6 on target, 2.9 goals. So 41% accuracy on average, with a conversion rate of 6%. Can't argue with that.
Champions League group stage I drew Atletic Bilbao, Wolfsburg and Genoa. Wasn't sure what to expect...
Bilbao H - 4-2 Wolfsburg A - 4-0 Genoa H 3-1 Genoa A 4-0 Bilbao A 4-2 Wolfsbrg H 4-1
It can't get much easier...Tevez is killing it.
