Peter Solz = Solympic?

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Grand Final – What Grand Final??
IF you can't make it down to Melbourne this weekend, there's a cracking round of state league action in NSW to look forward to, including Sydney Olympic vs Blacktown City.

Have your say.

Yes it was great to see us win on penalties. Really demoralising to the Victory fans. But real football was the winner on the night as the greatest game in Australia was played by the two best teams in Australia.

Well when the A-League started he had only one choice, and naturally being from Sydney he was drawn towards Sydney FC. I'm much the same I'll support Sydney FC simply because they are a Sydney team and I'm a Sydney boy. But now that there is an option, yes I am a Sydney boy but a Westie first, and Guest is much the same, just supporting Sydney FC because they are a Sydney club.

Mileski raises stakes for 2010
23.03.10 14:43

Bankstown City FC’s lethal marksman Robbie Mileski has been in fine goalscoring form since the commencement of the 2010 NSW Premier League season four weeks ago.

The crowd favourite at Jensen Park has been at his devastating best having hit five goals in four matches but it was something that the former Sydney FC National Youth League player had worked on during the pre-season.

“I have been working overtime in getting this aspect right in my game.

“I want to get in the box as many times as I can and want to be involved in as many scoring opportunities as possible.

“This has obviously paid off so far but it’s too early to say anything else I just want to see the ball hit the back of the net more often in a consistent fashion.”

Asked whether the Golden Boot was on his mind Mileski stated to Football NSW.

“To be honest the thought has not crossed my mind as I am focused on seeing Bankstown winning as many matches as possible and finishing as high up the ladder to play finals football.

“Obviously if you ask any player in the world if you would like to win the Golden Boot award they would certainly say yes but I guess if this form continues then I will not think of it until say five rounds to go before the end of the season.

“It will only be then I would focus on that.”

The 22-year-old believes that Bankstown have been unlucky thus far in their 2010 NSW Premier League campaign but understands the squad has the potential to go places.

“Overall I believe we have been unlucky at times and only deserved to lose against the Rockdale City Suns.

“I think we are playing well and the team is settling in as the weeks roll by but we are concentrating on playing good attractive football on the floor and gunning for three points getting us up the ladder.”

The crafty attacker has lofty ambitions in becoming a professional footballer but has kept his feet firmly on the ground when asked what his goals were for 2010 and beyond.

“I would love to stay injury free and continue scoring as many goals as I possibly can for the club.

“I honestly don’t want to be out of the top three and if we play the way we know we can, this is certainly a realistic goal for us all at the club.

“Beyond 2010 obviously playing either in the A-League or abroad is in the back of my mind but I know I need to continue working hard at my game if I am to have any chance of achieving this. Right now I want to remain fit and healthy, assist my club and if an opportunity comes by then so be it.”

After a flawless display in round 4 of the NSW Premier League which saw Bankstown defeat the West Sydney Berries 5-1, Mileski being on the end of a hat-trick, the club now faces a keen South Coast Wolves outfit fresh from scoring its first points for 2010 after a credible 2-2 draw against 2009 Premiers Sydney United on Sunday.

“We are definitely expecting a tough match against the Wolves as I know they will be up to the task in wanting to secure maximum points.

“They will be in a confident mood that’s for sure after being able to grab a draw at Sydney United so we have to be ready for them.

“We understand that they are predominately a young squad so they will be full of running but it is up to us to isolate them.

“I think if we play the way we did against the Berries though then we will be fine.”

Bankstown City FC tackle the South Coast Wolves this Sunday at Jensen Park with kick off set for 6pm.

‘Ferret’ McConologue hungry for goals
23.03.10 10:34

Sutherland's Scottish import Stephen McConologue (right) shown in action against Bonnyrigg White Eagles' Shane Webb during their round 4 NSW Premier League clash
Scottish import Steve McConologue is better known by the nickname of ‘Louigi’ in Scotland after spending 12-years plying his trade with Dundee United, Clyde, St Johnston, Partick Thistle, Cowdenbeath and Stranraer.
The Scotsman however was looking for a new challenge so, when chatting with close friend Neil Jablonski, decided to head south for sunnier climate and try out for Sutherland Sharks.

A striker of some note he was given another nickname (Ferret) due to his knack of ‘ferreting out a goal’ which, considering he represented his country from U/14 to U/21 level, speaks volumes about his worth to the Sharks after the loss of Brad Boardman to Bonnyrigg White Eagles in the off season tho when challenged about his scoring exploits.

“My most memorable goals was a tap in from 5-yards when playing for Partick,” he laughs before adding; “Mind you, I did manage to score one in a Stranraer match from 25-yards so maybe I was getting a little more confident by then?”

As if the Sharks didn’t have enough jokers in the dressing room they seem to have found another one but other than the challenge was there any other reason for coming to Australia?

“It was too cold in Scotland,” he laughs again, “It was mainly the new challenge though and since I’ve been here I have to say I am loving it, everything about Australia so far has been fantastic.”

McConologue has been doing some coaching with Mark Robinson but may look into doing a University course with Jablonski at some stage but the 28-year old is keeping his options open and so far as the Sharks are concerned they hope he will continue to ferret out a route to scoring as the Shire side look to emulate the highs of last season, and who would bet against it this early into a new campaign?

He only had one choice? Not really... he could choose between supporting the club and not supporting the club. He chose to support it.

Ill never understand the "hey, new club around that is more convenient for me... I'm going to jump ship..." mentality. It's pretty

But yea... good luck with that.
