Looks like we redeemed the point and the 3 goal deficit we were handed last week in the most clinical fashion against the early league leaders

Hume City 0 - smfc 6

I would have taken a draw before the game

victory08 yes we are in the public eye and yes somtimes it may be petty but dont you think that it gives more reason for the ffa to stamp this kind of behaviour out of our game. so that is why a zero tolerance approch is crusial. to answer sydneycroatia58 coment i am 32 years of age and have been to many preston v knights games and if you think that is somthing to stand by you must have a tiny p-nut for a brain . oh and by the way has anyone out there seen a pitch invasion at an a-league game or put the a-league players at risk . it people like you that give this great game a bad name in the media...... Why blame the NSL if fucking greeks can't get on with fucking greeks?

Who's blaming the NSL you opportunistic dickhead?

The National Soccer League is not to be blamed if people of the same fucking race can't get on and cause a game to be abandoned.

It's morons like you who promote this hatred between new and old fans and should be condemned because this hatred doesn't exist.

We are all football fans and we all love football and it doesn't matter where we came from or what fucking team we followed before the A-League.

We're all in this together.

Fuck off you divisive prick.

Why is it then that people who never followed the NSL have to always spurt crap like "good riddance the NSL was shit anyway" or "Fucking Greeks that's why SMFC will never be in the A-League". Then of course fans of the NSL as well shouldn't bag the A-League at every turn. There ius shit being flung from both sides and as a supporter of a club from the NSL and a supporter of a future A-League club I'm sick of it. It needs to stop on both sides. People need to stop branding and ethnic supporters as lunatics whenever they get the chance and stop painting every NSL supporter with the same brush. The NSL had it's fair share of problems but so does the A-League.

So I'm a divisive prick who can support both my old NSL club and the A-League as well.

It was just a case of some clowns getting over excited at a 94 min equaliser against a team that had not won a game. Yes, it was stupid by these people and, yes the club should be fined, and yes these idiots banned. To say the old NSL was crap etc etc, is not a fair comment. The NSL was the first national sporting league of any type in Australia, and was the forerunner to the current A-League. Sadly the supporters of some of these clubs have done them a dis-service over the years which is why the A-League was all new teams. To have an A2 League (not a "B" League - the A in A-League is for Australia, and B would be what, Banana..??) with these teams is the way forward. Creating a new division fo new teams simply would not work. The SMFCs of this world, have okay grounds, have decent players, all they need to do is rubber hose some of their small minority of fans who do stupid things. Having said that I don't think promotion from a Div 2 to the A League should be a given, there should be a play off, and the promotion candidate should also meet strict critera.

Just like to add that I was at the game and I am a South Melbourne supporter - I agree that things have been blown out of proportion. The clowns that jumped the fence were out of order and it could have been excused as over-the-top celebration of a very late goal... HOWEVER
the second those nuggets ran beyond the edge of the pitch, they were out of line. When they ran all the way to the far side of the goal, acted aggressively toward a player, then refused to leave the pitch, it went beyond anything closely resembling acceptable and became disgusting.

Behind the goal we all knew that the club was in trouble as a result of these dickheads - what made it worse was that they continued to attempt to justify their actions well after the incident, even as they were having their memberships cancelled and they were being escorted from the ground.

I said at the time that we'd have the game taken from us, and the club expected a fine, and frankly - we can have no argument with the decision.

And I agree wholeheartedly with Arthur that these pricks should be criminally charged, or at the very least sued by the club in civil court to cover the costs of the fine. If they were real supporters, of course, they wouldn't need to be sued, they'd bloody volunteer to pay the back the fine.

There must be laws, such as trespass, public nuisance etc. that can be used. I am also sure restraining orders could be sought banning them from any Football involvement.

If this situation happened with AFL, the Clubs would not be fined or points deducted but the individuals concerned would be dealt with severley, which is as it should be.

The FFV reaction is no different to what the ASF did when they ran the NSL and it got us no-where.

Arthur, while i'm no law expert, i do remember reading about that dick "Peter the Pest" who has repeatedly invaded sports games at the tennis, rugby, cricket etc.

According to this article i found, one can be charged for "assault and entering a playing field without authority".

Totally agree, Red Eye, not to distract from Daniel1991 comments as I am sure he is a passionate supporter of the game which I do applaud. If 1991 is his year of birth, I am sure he hasn't seen the game from the late 80's, to the 90's and the early 00's. NSL was great in producing talent, quality players, fantastic rivalary and emotions. The game has moved on, so lets move with it to.

Dude, listen carefully, there is no difference between the violence of the Old Guard and the New. None of it is acceptable.

World Football has experienced religious, political, racial and what i call geographically-based violence (city or state denomination)

The crowd trouble of the NSL was typically a mix of racial and geographically-based violence

The crowd trouble of the A-League is typically geographically-based violence.

So what's the difference i ask you? NONE.

That's my point.

In fact more people get evicted from cricket matches than our football matches. I think the media in general for some reason are anti-football. Which is why when two people have an arguement it ends up being reported as an ethnic riot took place.... I also go to the AFL and some comments generated at players and opposition supporters are downright racist and I have seen fights (albeit on small scale) it is just that these sorts of things are not widely reported. Yes, it seems there are major fights, maybe even 'riots' at overseas games but are they being reported acurately or is it a typical media beat up to make it worse than what it really is....

List the ethnic riots that happened during the NSL and I don't mean a group of fans in a bit of a scuffle. If you're going to throw wild claims like that you better be ready to back it up.

Good argument.

BTW its the Bangladesh league. we need an A2 league. This is what one of my mates wrote from a victorian perspective.

okay new idea for the FFV and the VPL0- new division called the V-LEAGUE. league should consist of 12-16 teams. Should consist of teams like Geelong Warriors, Ballarart red devils, Bengdigo, south east melbourne and then chuck in the rest of the top VPL teams and so on and ofcourse still have religation. A melbourne based football comp is hurting our sport and has to stop.

Is it me or is the average IQ level of Melbourne Heart fans (which i assume you are) considerably lower than everyone else on this site?

Lets "relegate" Adelaide United & Melbourne Victory fans next time these 2 fans clash and cause trouble. How about that?

I was at the physio today and the physio started talking about soccer and his work with Campbelltown City. I asked him if he attends AU matches and he said he goes to 4 or 5 a year. His next comment was how unsafe he felt with his 13 year old son in the Southern end of the East Stand and he was "appalled by the behaviour of fans". This discussion occurred this afternoon! i played it down of course and i still blame stadium security for letting AU/MV fans sit within arms reach of eachother. Either way your point is ridiculous.

As for your comment about zero tolerance, the club issued a LIFE BAN to 3 ASSOCIATES. No written warning. No 3 strikes you're out. What more do you want?

You do realise that the NSL produced 99.9% of the 2006 WC Socceroos.

And sme people wonder why there is an "us vs them" menatlity. It's because of fuckheads like this.

I would really like you to show me which player from the 06 WC squad made up the .1%? LOL

OK. So it wasn't 99.9%

But there are only 2-3 players in that squad who didn't come through the NSL.

Hmm, Syd Cro, I think you need to check your stats and also your language!

Yes, the NSL produced alot of talent in its day, and as we know it didn't appeal to the general population of football followers.

I think the main concern is the penalty that was handed down. Very soft indeed! Soccer Victoria has handed down harsher penalties for less in the past. I think there is a bit of favourism towards South Melbourne on this one. Preston and St.Albans will spitting chips and asking for their cases to be re-opened on this very very soft penalty.
