Does he have the pedigree? I'm not so sure. Then again, neither does Pim. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Could It Be Roo Gullit?? FORMER Chelsea and Newcastle manager Ruud Gullit has said he would consider taking up the role as Socceroos coach when Pim Verbeek leaves the post after the World Cup in South Africa.Have your say.

God help us. He's not fat but the show's title that came to mind as soon as I read this was "The Biggest Loser". Ruud Gullit as a coach is an absolute basket case.

Just did some further reading on his club career as a manager. Looks a bit of a problem. Lots of fallouts with players and board.

The next NT manager is probably the most important in a long long time to get correct. Whoever takes on the job has alot of work ahead of them.

I think the fact that he was sacked by LA Galaxy says it all really.

I don't think so!! What has he achieved as a manager. Too much a media man. Me thinks Ruud may be just looking for profile. Someone more astute is what we require. Pim has achieved excellent outcomes without excellent performances. We need someone who can bring results with a broader game plan who helps to encourage the A-league not just dismiss it.

I think he would be a good choice He has the experience He understands the system we have in place and needs to underpin our development He is very recognisable even by the brain surgeons in ping pong ball.
A good all round choice ..... A tasty headline

of the available coaches out there he does not seem so bad. he would do well here because of our nature. yes there is some history but what coach has no history somewhere. what other options are there?

I love Ruud, he's awesome. His comments suggest he's more interested in the sun and surf than the NT... Maybe we could trial him for a year?

please not gullit. i dont think he has what it takes at this level. granted our asian opposition are not too strong, so anyone may do a good job, but i think as a nation that is rising in the world game, we need to think bigger and get a manager with a good pedigree.

At the moment, Lavicka of Sydney would be my pick, he can fulfil his contract however long with sydney and coach the socceroos at the same time, as sydney can cope when he is away with poppa and that other assistant similar to guus with psv at the time, and become nT manager fully when that finishes, will save ffa some dosh, he will bring european class and tactics, he can guide the youthful next gen best, and has good international experience with czechs etc
Lavicka would be ideal
