In the paper in England today it said Theo Walcott was a certainty for selection. Dont be surprised if its someone from left field who is dropped. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article The Wait For Roo Cull Goes On ? SOCCEROO fans will have to remain patient a little longer before discovering which players have been culled from the Australian squad with Pim Verbeek set to reveal his chosen 23 this evening.Have your say.

Before the denmark game I would have cut moore straight out. There are more deserving and more capable players available and let Neil and Schwartzer supply the experience. However apart from some mistakes early he did seem to improve, even if the commentators weren't prepared to mention the mistakes he made. Our defensive unit looks tight and stubborn and he is part of the mongrel there.
Pity they have to cut anyone :-(

Given that we are light on with attacking options, I'd take both Vidosic and Garcia and cut Valeri. Not we need him in addition to Grella, Culina and Jedinak, especially when we have guys like Emerton and Wilkshire who can also play there.

Remove Garcia. Worse than a pile of horseshit on a hot day.

I fucking hope not, good player and versitile as well. He should be there. Not saying he shouldn't . Just not having seen him for any of the last 2 games and his injury problems prior to getting into camp makes me wonder. Like i said a guess.

Why fifa has to limit the number to 23? It is such an important event and some teams will obviously have to play a lot more than 3 games. I would like to have at least 25 players at my disposure.

jedinak and valeri's names are also in the hat as we have too many central playing midfielders.

I hope its not R Williams, as he provides great cover at RB and central midfield (which would allow one of the DMs to be cut).....but I fear it could be given his injury problems....I would feel so sorry for him and the blame would lie with gordon strachan for continuing to play him injured even once boro's season was over....it would be unfortunate so I hope not.
It could/should be one of the DM's because we have so many...but to be honest I'd feel sorry for one of them because they are not the worst players in the squad - just too many options in the one position.
If it were a direct choice between garcia and vidosic, I'd take vidosic. Garcia did not look great last night and Vidosic has looked better the last couple of games.

A number of players competing for squads for this WC have not made their final squads due largely to fitness/form issues, notably Benni McCarthy.
Garcia may've been unlucky with injury this season, but you can see his performances haven't been the best for Australia, especially in these recent friendlies, including against Denmark last night. Meanwhile young Vidosic is fit and showing good form, including for the NT now, at just the right time, including scoring that goal against NZ. With our lack of striking options, whoever of Garcia/Vidosic make the final squad will be utilised as much as a striking/final third option, especially off the bench, than further back on the right flank. Vidosic has demonstrated he can be more effective for the NT and can provide a little more of a threat for the opposition, especially with his speed and general movement on the pitch, aswell as his technical touch in interplay. I again noticed this difference between the two, in the match against Denmark last night.
If Garcia had, had the kind of season with Hull that he had, last season, then he surely would've secured his spot, but now he's being linked to Championship clubs (Coventry) and tbh it was his breaking into the EPL which was the reason he achieved the long awaited call into the NT side, in the first place. And he will be into his early 30s come 2014, so having Vidosic in there, who should be a key player come 2014, is another bonus/incentive, Post-2010 legacy wise.
And in regards to our four DMs - Pim clearly favours having two holding midfielders (Grella & Culina), so it would make sense if both Valeri AND Jedinak made the final squad, as back up holding/central midfielders #3 and 4. Especially as both have performed well with the NT, especially in recent times, and that includes against Denmark last night. Also, Culina can play in a number of positions, especially on that right hand side, so his flexibility also means the squad kind of has only 3 DMs, if one knows what I mean, as Culina can cover a number of areas in the squad. Same goes for some other players, like Kewell (MF/ST), which Pim certainly favours, as one of the players said in a Post-Match interview, it means Pim is not required to use as many subs or what have you, if, like we saw against Denmark last night, a Culina can just switch to RB/RW who was subbed off for a Valeri or Jedinak. It can enable some tactical flexibility aswell.

My guess it'll be; Galekovic Oar Holland Lowry Jedinak After last night, Valeri is a safer bet than Grella. We're going to need a CM after Grella is suspended.

lol tbh We may even see Valeri or even Jedinak take Grella's place, come atleast one of those Group fixtures, BUT, these are only lead up fixtures and as we saw with Moore, Grella and I'll throw in Bresc, may perform a fair bit better against the USA, when they've had some more match time under their belt and have also gotten used to the local conditions a bit more.
BTW Bresc was pretty ordinary last night, but I'm sure he will improve with more match time, though tbh, his spot in the line up has hardly been secure for the past year now, he's more a bench option these days.

Probably be someone like Milligan up there aswell. Don't need him as well as Beauchamp, Moore, Neill, Williams who can play CB
