Has this movie got the typical Tarantino self-flagellating dialogue?
Didn't like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and From Dusk Til Dawn for this reason, hence avoid his movies.

so didn't end up going to watch the great gatsby the other night. the mrs was sick so we stayed home and watched a movie she was given for her bday.

It's a big, dumb popcorn flick. Don't expect to go in and witness a masterpiece, you watch it to be entertained for an hour and a half.

I see where you're coming from. In the 'second' part of the movie I felt his character was confused, but mainly had good intentions, but it seemed to change during the 'third' part, without any major explanation. They could have showed his character struggling internally with that change

And it left me more excited for the seventh than the rest

Ended up seeing the place beyond the pines and iron man 3, thought they were both brilliant... But PBTP was another level of storytelling.

I did really struggle with understanding the motivations of Coopers character though.

Watched The Village for only the second time last night. Reinforced my opinion that it was Shyamalan's best movie. More layers than The Sixth Sense.

I think the last movie I saw at a cinema was Bridesmaids.

But if you have to choose, go see Iron Man, your wife set it up so you should go along with it. It's a good film. TPBTP will be out for a while longer as well.

I'm going to the movies for the first time in AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES. My wife saw me pining over seeing Iron Man, so organised a babysitter behind my back to surprise me. Now I'm thinking that I might like to go see the pines movie or something else.

100% agree, I was expecting another 'Drive' type movie with Gosling going on a rampage and subsequently engaging in a cat and mouse chase with Cooper's character, and whilst that would have been awesome, the trailer really under sells the brilliance of this film. It's such a brilliant example of powerful storytelling and consequences that span two generations, all the while having you hooked through every moment.

I saw an interview with Bradley Cooper in which he said that he filmed The Place Beyond The Pines before Silver Linings, and said that he would never have been able to conjure up that sort of performance had it not been for his experiences on set for TPBTP.

Superman has 2 weaknesses, Kryptonite and Humanity. I was a bit meh about the whole superman thing for years with his invulnerability but this Superman looks the goods!

Saw V for Vendetta the other night. Awesome film.

This. As I understand it the gist of it is he only has one weakness, but each villain knows about that weakness, but he still overcomes it any way.

Saw The Place Beyond The Pines a couple of weeks ago. Story telling at its best. The way it plays out just keeps you're interest in every character, and doesn't really try and portray any character as a hero. Saw The Hangover 3 tonight, and they did the right thing and just made it fun and finished the story for good. A lot better than the second one anyway.
