Quote:FIFA ‘very satisfied’ with World Cup referees By Associated Press Monday, June 21, 2010 PRETORIA, South Africa — FIFA’s head of refereeing says he’s "very, very satisfied" with the performance of World Cup match officials. Jose-Marcia Garcia-Aranda says some of their decisions "are not good," but he declined to discuss individual controversies like the disallowed goal which could have given the United States a late lead against Slovenia. He says mistakes are natural for human beings, but the referees’ overall level is very high. He says FIFA believes referees do not have a duty to explain "every single situation" that happens in a match. Garcia-Aranda says they would be distracted from their job if they had to focus on explaining themselves to the media. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/soccer/general/view/20100621fifa_very_satisfied_with_world_cup_referees/
