Eden Hazard would be a nice addition, but it isn't our most pressing issue.

If Arsene spends all his money on forwards then I will be very upset. Get a fucking centre half! Then a creative midfielder if you have the money. THEN on forwards.

Actually the place where we are in most dire need of players is in the midfield. This squad is so threadbare at the moment, especially in the middle that it's fucking scary.

I think our defense is in greater need then our midfield, but I know where you're coming from.

I think Scott Parker would be an excellent addition, it would allow Ramsey/Wilshere to become more creative. Lansbury should get a few games too.

Rosicky is pretty useless. Arshavin has his moments. Walcott is solid. Alex Oxlade is young and inexperienced, same goes with Ryo. Gervinho is solid as well.

Hazard would be a direct replacement for Nasri. In that he will go straight into the team with swapping with Walcott and Gervinho.

Scott Parker would be GREAT. We have Song and possibly Frimpong leaving us in January for the ACN. We are screwed in that midfield anchor position with no cover. Also Marvin Martin has been rumoured to take the Cesc role, or even Valbuena. I really honestly have no idea who he'd even be looking at but this is absolutely CRUCIAL we get this one right.

Cahill or Dann would be great in defense. Either one of them I'd be happy with.

That's 4 players. We easily have enough money for all after the Nasri sale happens. We could also do with another quality experienced striker as Chamakh is proving useless. Kinda like Eduardo after the injury. Though I have a feeling he's gonna rely on Van Persie being fit again and Joel Campbell coming through to be amazing. It also wouldn't hurt to get another left back as Gibbs is injured every other week and I'm super doubtful on Traore.

So there's a good 6 players I think we need to have a shot at winning the title this season. Get 4, and our chances are vastly improved. Get 3 and it's leaving us pretty bare still. Any less is just plain suicide for Wenger.

Defenders in the first team - Vermaelen, Djourou, Koscielny, Squillaci, Sagna, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Traore, Miquel

Midfielders(not wingers) in the first team - Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere, Song, Frimpong, Lansbury, Diaby

We only need one centre half, whereas we need probably another 2 midfielders.

Then you look at Song out for the next 3 weeks, and Diaby injured it does look quote scary how thin we are in the middle.

I think we'll be ok upfront if Bendtner stays.

As for the ACN, there's a good chance Cameroon won't make it which will mean we don't lose Song, and well there hasn't been any indication that Frimpong will even get called up for Ghana.

In the end I'd like to end up with this:
1 CB - Any one of Cahill, Samba, Jagielka or Dann.
2 CMs - Parker would be great but we know that won't happen. Would love M'vila and someone like Martin or Ayew.
Maybe 1 LW - Hazard if we can get him
1 CF, but only if Bendtner leaves - Someone like Moussa Sow who has said he wants to come to Arsenal.

Also having watched the match against Udinese again I think Chamakh gets treated really unfairly by the fans, me included.

Yeah he may not be scoring goals, but his link up play is excellent, and that esentially is what he is, a link up striker. People talk about him being lazy, nevermind the fact that he was 2nd in terms of ground covered against Udinese.

While I would rather Bendtner ahead of him, he's not as horrible as is being made out to be.

I think he'd work much better as art of a 2 upfront, not on his own.

Quote:
on Kieran Gibbs and Johan Djourou after Tuesday’s match...
Kieran Gibbs has a small hamstring strain and will miss the match on Saturday. Johan Djourou has a chance to be fit for Saturday. Johan had a test today which looked quite positive, so we are hopeful. Johan has a minor hamstring strain. Kieran should be out for 10-12 days.

on Jack Wilshere’s steady improvement...
Jack is getting better by the day. He will not be ready for Saturday, but we have had good signs with him and that is very important.

on Tomas Rosicky and Armand Traore...
Both Tomas and Armand are doubtful for the match on Saturday. We will make a late decision on both of them. Rosicky has a slight thigh problem and Traore has a slight groin problem.

on Theo Walcott having no side-effects from his ankle injury...
Theo has done well. We worked very hard on getting Theo fit for Tuesday’s match and I think it was the right decision to start him. We did not want to play Theo earlier, as he had not played in three weeks. But he had a good start and a good game on Tuesday, so we’re pleased.

on Thomas Vermaelen seeming to be over his back injury...
Thomas is perfectly alright. We are very happy. We worked hard with Thomas and he has reacted very well. Basically, Thomas has not played for a year and so to come back in and play straight away two games in three days of that intensity is very pleasing.

2nd EPL game into the season and we don't have a left back. Farkin yes!

Yea about Chamakh I agree. Van Persie has the talent, power and skill to succeed on his own up front. It takes a special kind of player to do that. Chamakh would definitely improve partnered with someone up there. It's a bit shit for him.

Walcott's always said he wants to play in the middle. I'd like to see Chamakh and Walcott upfront, maybe in a cup game, and see how they go. I would like to see us at least try 4-4-2 again.

Koscielny was blending well with Vermaelen it has to be said.

We're verging closer and closer to 'squillaci territory' though with the injuries. Frightening stuff.

Koscielny plays well with Vermaelen because Vermaelen is a leader and organises the backline well. It's the same reason he played well with Djourou last season. It's when he plays with Squillaci that there's a problem, and it's only when them two are together. Djourou and Squillaci played well together at the start of last season.

In the end, if we bring in a CB, as long as they are better than Squillaci I am fine with it.

So, Djourou, Gibbs and Rosicky all out. As is Traore.

Most surprising news is that Nasri is in the squad and available. Means the City deal isn't as close as reported, also think it's because of injuries in midfield.

Wenger: I won't walk away
August 19, 2011

By ESPNsoccernet staff

Arsene Wenger insists he has no intention of walking away from Arsenal and has asked the fans to trust his judgment in the transfer market.

Arsene Wenger
GettyImagesArsene Wenger has no intention of leaving Arsenal

• Dein: Wenger could consider future
• UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings
• Nasri included in Arsenal squad
• Mancini: Nasri deal close

With Cesc Fabregas having left and Samir Nasri on his way, Wenger has come under fire from fans and former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein suggested he could consider his future.

However, at his press conference on Friday, Wenger said: "I will not walk away from the club."

Asked about the scrutiny he is facing at present, he said: "That's part of the world at the moment and I don't have a problem with it perfectly frankly because I can live with that. I try to focus on making the right decisions for the club."

With the fans eager to see top-quality signings arriving at the club, Wenger told them to have faith. "I have shown in my 15 years that I am capable of bringing in quality," he said. "You have to trust my judgment."

Arsenal have already boosted the squad this summer, with Gervinho, Carl Jenkinson, Ryo Miyaichi and Alex Chamberlain all coming in, and Wenger feels the criticism will decrease when people realise their quality.

"If you look well at the players we have brought in, you will notice very soon that we have brought top quality players in - we have bought Jenkinson, Gervinho, we have Miyaichi, we have Chamberlain," he said. "You will soon see that they are all top quality players.

"We have not lost so many players. We have lost, of course, big players, but number-wise we should be capable to do well. If we find quality, we'll add quality to our squad and we work very hard on it I must tell you. We have got a reputation for looking too much at the money but we want to add top quality to our squad - that's all we want to do.

Dont get me wrong, I dont want Wenger to go but if and when he eventually does, I like Jurgen Klopp. I think he would do well at Arsenal

I think the signings Wengers made will turn out to be gems, hopefully they are able to have a Chicarito-like impact. I still think we could use a couple of wise old heads though

so looks like nasri will play against liverpoool. good we need him.

then hell be sold straight after the match. lol. unless wenger wants to keep him. seeing as chelsea are buying mata maybe he will.

why is wenger so slow at buying people. only one offer (too low) was made for jagielka, no offers have been made for samba and i dont think one was made for scott dan. and then once the window is closed they act surprised that they havent got their transfer targets

Provisional squad: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna, Arshavin, Frimpong, Nasri, Ramsey, Walcott, Van Persie, Fabianski, Chamakh, Chamberlain, Bendtner, Lansbury, Squillaci, Miquel, Afobe, Miyaichi.

Would imagine the XI would be
Szczesny
Jenkinson Vermaelen Koscielny Sagna
Frimpong Nasri Ramsey
Walcott Van Persie Arshavin

That line-up doesn't really inspire confidence, and not much on the bench if we're chasing the game.

Except that Song's injured.

I reckon that XI's spot on except maybe for the backline, Squillaci into the centre for Jenkinson, Sagna on the right, Vermaelen on the left.

-------------Szczesny-----------------
Sagna--Koscielny--Squillaci--Vermaelen
---------Ramsey----Frimpong-----------
Walcott------Arshavin------------Nasri
------------Van Persie----------------

Fabianski, Jenkinson, Miquel, Chamberlain, Chamakh, Bendtner, Miyaichi
