I just don't see why Liverpool would replace a flawed genius in Suarez with an arguably more flawed character who has been highly sporadic throughout his career and has the ability to ruin a dressing room. I can't see him being too happy as a backup either.

The bigger concern is to get him to buy in to the system, pressing from the front, etc which he hasn't really done before apart from when playing for Italy.

In term's of the dressing room it's not like we have massive competing egos like he has had at other clubs. The off-field stuff with him can be distracting but largely harmless, even his suspension record is nothing compared to Suarez's.

At the end of the day we needed a quality striker, at 24 and at that price he's a gamble worth taking.

As much as he can be a loose cannon as mentioned BR is one gaffa who should get this beast in focuss to cause damage and win BIG tight games.
Any CB's hate dealing with a tall solid striker - he's going to enjoy the ball distribution we'll be able to provide, this is a good buy @ $16m as mentioned !
I expect he's matured a little and the time away from the epl has probably given him the chance to see what more he could have done in back then - look out for the 2nd coming I'm predicting :)
Balotelli moved to Milan for £19m from City last year and has scored 30 goals in 54 games for the Serie A club.

He's not going to be playing every game. Clubs dream of having a #2 the quality of Balotelli. It's a big name signing and a guy who scores important goals.

If BR can control Suarez and Sterling (who was headed down a dangerous path) then I don't think Balotelli will be completely out of control. I just hope he isn't too big of a distraction. He's much better than he used to be that's for sure.

Probably bullshit but I've heard something like a 12 month loan with option to buy. That would be would be perfect imo.

If 12 months with Brendan won't change him nothing will. In BR we trust
Nevermind that, apparent ac won't accept that.

I still want him though, he's world class and at 24 for £16-18 mil, it's a steal.

Mignolet's not strong enough, he got out muscled by (I believe) tadic when the ball went high in the air. If you're not going to be able to catch it, punch the thing.

I'm not gonna criticize his distribution. The way we play, he gets back passes all the time under pressure and looks for the pass to his fullbacks. It's better than him kicking it long down the middle, it fall to their player and being stuck in no mans land like I've seen several keepers do this week. Any new keeper we get will have to learn this role which Mignolet has been playing for a year now and has been getting better at. It could be a bit quicker and sharper, but I don't think it's cost us many, if any goals.

Overall it's hard to pick a MOTM for this game. Toss up between Lovren, sterling and Mignolet for me.

You got to give the Count a break - just the weak before against Dortmund he tore it apart, sounds like things didn't go his way more due to squad line up.
Poor ol Lucas who had been such a strong defensive mid now is being pushed out due to the attacking influence of BR and players coming in - great overall shame for he.
SG can be the DM as he was playing most of last season for now its outside attacking fit players who can recover when in defense like Hendo, Can hopefully is similar but we haven't seen him enough as yet.

Mignolet certainly is good on his line but has shown wrong decisions when having to come out or defending a corner.
Maybe not his forte ? or he's not getting the support enough from his CB's ?

Thought rodgers made the right substitutions, Allen came on and we started to regain the midfeild, lambert came on to give us 2 up front and we started to look dangerous.

Lucas' role is is pretty much redundant. I don't think he's a bad player, but he doesn't suit how we want play. John glenson needs to be replaced by Moreno next week, he's a shadow of his former self, glen johnson.

Most disappointed with Coutinho, I think he will play better when the other team pushes a bit mor that Southampton did.

3 points is what matters.

Mignolet needs to command his area more but he is a brilliant shot stopper, amazing save at the end to tip it on to the bar. Manquillo showed Johnson what a full back should be like, was very impressed and hope he stays at RB with Moreno coming in at LB in a week or two. Lovren was beastly and won almost everything against a very difficult CF in Pelle. Skrtel was fine .

Gerrard and Lucas is a partnership with not enough mobility. There were no midfield options in front of the back four because they both sat really deep and neither of them are ball carriers. We saw when Allen came on how much we improved because Allen would pick it up, drive at the defence and midfield and open up space for the front three. Allen was crucial in us getting back on top and I was very impressed. He or Can should be starting from now on and I think Lucas might have been in the shop window a little bit there.

Coutinho was shadowed by Wanyama all game (who was fantastic) and tried too hard when on the ball. Needed to drop deeper and pick up the ball, he had his back to goal all the time and it's not his game.

Sterling showed blistering pace and is going to be a fantastic outlet. Worked tirelessly in defence, pressing closing down etc. Sturridge quiet but scored the winner, did his job.

Moreno in for GJ and Can/Allen for Lucas and that's a much better team. Markovic and Lallana to come in too which is a plus. Still think we need another top quality option in the front third in case Studge gets injured (we all know he will)

Great summary, I agree with most of that. I thought Manquillo looked a bit shaky and at times in the wrong positions but that will get better over coming weeks. Looking forward to Moreno coming in and replacing Johnson, leaving Flano, Johno and Manquillo to fight it out for the RB spot.
I'd like to see Can play along with Henderson in midfield and Gerrard just behind them, but I must say I was very impressed with Allen when came on. Hopefully he comes of age this season. Looked a lot more composed than what we've seen in the past.
