Why didn't you use ratings from the previous weekends finals to make a point?

Then you would have been able to point out lots of interesting little statistical crumbs.  
Like the worst ratings for an AFL game in Brisbane was more than the rating for all the NRL games in Adelaide put together.  
Or, the ratings for NRL finals in Melbourne were worse than the ratings for AFL finals in Brisbane, despite  Melbourne having a team in the NRL finals.  
Or, one game of AFL in Sydney outdrew all the NRL games in Melbourne put together.
Or, one AFL game in Sydney had higher ratings than the combined totals for all the NRL games in Perth and Adelaide put together.
As a bonus, we finally get a chance to see how Fox ratings compare like for like.  Finals means we do not have to compare Fox exclusive NRL games with simulcast AFL games.  And lo and behold  NRLs best ratings on FOX 349, AFLs worst 368.  AFLs average ratings on FOX over the finals so far are about 70k higher than NRLs best game.

But you rest easy, you managed to find an article saying the NRL is `winning`, all is right in the world.
You should take your musings on ratings to the LeagueUnlimited site, they could do with a good ratings musing about now, as they seem to have stopped talking about them.

Epic NRL wins battle of the codes, even after record audience for AFL in Melbourne. Really seems people are switching off up north. Their ratings last week in nsw and qld were abysmal.

Toyota signs on as premier partner for three more years

AUSTRALIA'S premier automotive brand Toyota today extended its long-term sponsorship of the Australian Football League until at least the end of the 2019 season.
The three-year agreement, which ranks among the biggest sponsorship deals in Australian sport, will extend Toyota’s position as the AFL’s premier partner to 16 years.
Toyota president Dave Buttner and AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan announced the sponsorship extension at the official launch of the 2016 Toyota AFL Finals Series in Melbourne today.

I too am a fan of how it was in the 90s however the incessant knee jerk reactions to things that happen that leads to a rule change has completely fucked the game.
I'm a dogs supporter and swear the day we flooded against essendon in 2000 was the day that the game changed for the worse. Was a masterstroke but that created that rolling maul, 30 players around the ball deal i cannot handle.

I prefer the way the game was in the 90s but I don't have too many issues with how it's played now. My crows play some pretty expansive, skillful and entertaining football.

Jacko acted like a knob and just ranted for 40 minutes. It was a total car crash. There are plenty of old timers (Sam Newman included) who also whinge about the "modern game" but are at least respectful and can explain their point of view.
