Now he is reduced to reminding everyone over here that the AFL attains higher crowds and tv ratings than the Australian a-league.

Gold Coast and sporting clubs what can you say, 10,552 crowd is the GCS second lowest crowd and a long way from the nearly 20,000 average from year 1. Lucky they play with a yellow ball or the red one would be difficult for the players to locate with all those red seats in the background.

North Melbourne nearly pulled a bigger crowd in Tasmania, so you would assume a true Tasmanian team would be a better proposition than propping up the GCS for the years to come.

Noticed on Friday Night the expansion battle is gathering steam with the NRL in Melbourne out rating the AFL in Sydney on FTA 24k to 19k.

SBS 2 apparently is doing better and the A-League will face some stiff competition as their viewership rating was up last night apparently driven by a 95k rating for a show known as the Perfect Vagina. At least the viewers can find the station when they need to, that has to be a good sign for the A-League.

Just wanted to add it was great today as I watched 10 minutes of the Essendon v GWS game when the GWS scored you could hear a pin drop, those 10 Active GWS Melbourne Supporter group really need to lift their game and make some noise. Shake those Pom Poms harder.

The GCS just killing it in the Queensland market, to match their 10.5k crowd with a 54k Pay TV rating. Nice stadium though and they do have the best player in the AFL.

Welp, 60 points is less than I thought we'd get beaten by, so a good day out for the lions.

10.5k is still triple what GCU used to get, and they finished 3rd in their first two seasons.

I suspect that North Melbourne, GWS, GCS, Brisbane and Sydney are all on the AFL's payroll. All getting concessions. If everything was fair in that comp I might watch it. But oh well.

It's not acceptable anymore. Voss has to go, he single-handedly put the club back 5 to 10 years away from a premiership.

I dunno. It's strange, because he had this club running in the right direction. The tail end of last season was incredibly positive. He's built a very promising, young side. But thing's are just falling apart this season. I don't get it.

And we all know how that ended for GCU, I think it was nearly 5 times by the end.

I guess your argument would be that the AFL has budgeted for decreasing crowds in the third year and a team that is just well average at best, despite having the best of the best from the draft and one of the AFL's top 3 players. That is why the AFL wanted NM on the GC to work off their Melbourne supporter base, it was always a big risk to go it alone.

The A-League expansion has been poor, no problem to admit (Wanderers excluded) - GCU and Fury were wrong from day 1 (sorry to the fans but the facts are the facts). Fury is RL territory and Gold Coast is just a money pit and even the Titans are barely viable and that is a RL state. Heart is still a 50/50 proposition where I sit. See not hard to admit.

All GCS have done is added 10k in fans and Brisbane have lost 10k.

The AFL is losing one of its strengths that it always had, the best players in the best league not a bunch of teams that have players who would never have played AFL. The best of the AFL is still worthwhile to watch but the growing list of also ran's is becoming a problem and will continue to be.

I like the A-League at 10 clubs because I feel this is the level given the dollars available that can achieve the highest standard. The standard has improved not by fluke but because we do not have 2 teams with players who should not be playing A-League standard football. When they get more money and higher quality players then expand until then stay as you are.

Wanderers were a success because they fished where the fishes are.

Imagine if GCS had to pay real stadium rents like GCU & the Titans have to pay, didn't get stadiums handed to them for a pittance and didn't get to keep any of the profits from food and drink sales.
