Point is, if they could cover up the smaller crimes and chose not to, why would they cover up the elephant in the room?

Swans have suffered from the wet pitch.
But full credit to Port, there a great team coming home.

Even though we lost last night, much improved performance. We actually outscored the Hawks in three quarters last night, just got trounced in that 2nd quarter.

Eagles certainly put in a damn good showing away from home.
Against an in form team.

I don't think it was necessarily a case of a 'damn good showing' so much as the Eagles strengths alligned with Hawks' weaknesses. They played with good intensity and the coach will be happy with certain things, but there were very conspicuous things that let them down.

League leaders away from home by a team well off form and outside the 8.
That's a damn good showing.

Thought the GWS were on TV here in Adelaide and then I realized all the empty seats were blue not orange.

Port needed that win to get there crowds back to over 20k, so much for those 40k+ members they have, when 16k show up. The weather was not the best but they were playing last years premiers with Tippet playing in Adelaide for the first time since he left, yet only 40% of their members bothered to show up. We are a fickle bunch here in Adelaide.

Also interesting North Melbourne are reducing ticket prices for the GWS game as part on some different pricing strategy the AFL is introducing. Carlton also gave away 5,000 tickets to their home game against Port Adelaide.

An amazing win - well done to the Lions.

I just worked out that it's the 10th biggest comeback from a 3/4 time deficit.

Crowd of 24,164 pretty good as well.

Sensational comeback.

Great to see teams fighting on after being down by such large margins.

Much better to watch games nowadays. And this is coming from a Swans fan who are notorious for losing large leads.

This is interesting - it's exactly 40 years since all of the pies, tiges, blues and dons were in the finals together:

One of the commentators last week theorised that young teams don't know how to play in the wet any more because of Etihad Stadium having a roof and games getting called off at grass roots level for insurance reasons. I scoffed at it last week, but after seeing North Melbourne's handling errors in their last two wet weather outings (v GCS and Freo) I'm thinking whoever it was made a very valid point. Why can't these kids play in wet weather any more? Makes me miss guys like Glen Archer and Jess Sinclair.

can be one of the best ball movers in the competition and yet yesterday in the wet the struggled so bad. Maybe it was just an off day but it's amazing to see the difference when it is wet.

And as for Lloyd I cant comment. I never watched many bombers games.

For those interested in AFL business - ratings, crowds and other issues, this guy does pretty good summary and has started a blog, makes interesting reading:

Some NRL ratings stats there as well.

They struggled before the bye against GCS in the wet too. They can move the ball really well, they've got a strong midfield but they lack forward targets because they gave away their second tall forward (Edwards) and they never replaced Josh Gibson.
