Seriously going to western Sydney instead of Tassie is truly mind bogling I agree in saying Tassie should have been given an expansion team before GWS, but the reasoning behind going to GWS is pretty straightforward seeing as they are trying to cut into a new and disputed territory, and they know Tasmania will always be safe for them. That's the sad thing . AFL hq are treating Tassie like the nrl are doing to the central coast . I don't think tasmanians would appreciate the AFL giving them a team as a token gesture

A good day for the expansion clubs yesterday.
Gold Coast vs Collingwood - 19,721
That's their biggest crowd this year, and it was the 3rd biggest crowd at Metricon Stadium in their short history. It was also the first time they have ever beaten a team who was in the top 8 - definitely their biggest scalp ever.
GWS managed over 10k at Skoda yesterday and put up a very good fight against a far more mature and experienced team.

Spending the bulk of your salary budget on a guy who plays another code is ridiculous, and it got even more ridiculous when he jumped ship to Union. It also proves the overrated skill level required in AFL that someone from Rugby League can play the game at the 'elite' level so readily...

Daring to dream, just a little bit. Beat Port next week and I think I'll be in full Ridiculous Optimist mode.

MvFCArsenal16.8 wrote:It is . When Collingwood win ,papers talk them up . When they lose ,there is always an excuse Really? I'm a Pies supporter and I've found we've copped some pretty big criticisms in the media after losses this year, with players mentalities continually being questioned. There's no shame in losing to the Suns imo, I was prepared for it leading in to the game, it is disappointing losing to a team outside the eight but the Suns have some real quality.

Low crowds across the board on the weekend: 208,356 in total for an average of 23,151 - the lowest for the season.
Currently averaging 33,889 for the season to date.
Total attendances are now 103,941 below the same point last season.
A good weekend for the new teams.
The Suns had the 5th highest attendance for the round: 19,721 (their 3rd highest home attendance ever).
And the Giants home game did NOT register the lowest crowd of the round, which must be a first for them this season.

The giants gave away tickets? Are you sure? I feel like some other idiot would have mentioned that on this forum already. At least multiple times.

No surprise with games at Launceston, Darwin, Metricon, Skoda plus a low drawing game in a struggling St Kilda vs a visiting Port Adelaide. The AFL have planned for most of the upcoming massive drawing matches for the final 5 rounds.

I find it interesting these phone call from Dumbassmetrieu to the chairman of the Essendon Football Club regarding the cover up of illicit drugs. For shame.

The third tier of Etihad Stadium is completely empty and yet the stadium is still not full. The North Melbourne and Melbourne fans are nowhere to be seen.

What? He means that even with the top tier empty, theres still not enough to fill the bottom two tiers.

49,505 at Etihad last night for Ess vs Haw.
The Suns got a tick under 20k for a home game for the 2nd week running - they appear to be doing well in their 3rd season, yet to taste finals action, so there's still plenty of upside.
