Really don't agree with this, bar the two expansion sides, we've been playing one of the most inexperienced lineups of any side for the past 2 seasons. I'm not going to say that we've been playing well, but I think we've definitely been performing as well as one could expect from a side rebuilding. Particularly a side who missed out on higher draft picks during the down period, because of GC and WS. He's been in charge of Brisbane for 5 seasons. They've played 103 games in that time. The onus of any 'inexperience' is on the coach. On top of that, this weekend was the first time that they've played without a premiership winning player since 2002. Besides, look at the teams below Brisbane: GWS - expansion team. Perennial flogs. MElbourne - Disaster team of the decade. Perennial flogs. Bulldogs - Expected to be terrible. St Kilda - Going through a rebuilding phase. God Coast - Expansion team putting results together. Doesn't look good for Voss.

That's a very overly simplistic way of looking at it. Season 09 - He inherits the remnants of Leigh's Premiership team. Matthews didn't plan for the future while he was in charge, and he stated this to the board, who agreed to his plan. So what Voss inherits is mostly older team, with a few average youth players in it. He gets us to the Semi Finals. 10 - He decides that the team still has a chance at a premiership, so he recruits older players. This fails, but I can understand what he was aiming for. 11 - THIS is when he starts to rebuild. THIS is when the batch of new players who are currently forming the core of our team start coming through. So while yes, he's been in charge for 5 season, the true rebuilding process didn't start until 2 seasons ago. So no, the onus isn't on him. And I don't see your point regarding the teams below us. We're only 4 points off finishing 9th, which is entirely possible. Hell, that could even mean finals if Essendon are docked points. We had a poor start to the season sure, and if they'd sacked him then, I don't think anyone would really argue. But now, we've turned things around. The players have shown they have the utmost belief in him. Our gameplan is actually starting to come to fruition, now that the players have the experience and skills to execute it. So yeah sure, we haven't been playing great, but under performing is definitely not how I'd describe it.

You stated yourself that he made the decision to recruit older players delay rebuilding for a season. The onus is on him.

Whatever your opinion on Voss', and our performances, There's no doubt that the club has handled this incredibly poorly. Shoddy attempt to hide it behind the Essendon news, The day of the Clubs Gala Auction, Letting the press get wind of it, and then releasing a 4 line 'statement' 2 and a half hours later, that there will be a press conference on it tomorrow, 3 weeks before the seasons even ended.
The club better have a gigantic Ace up their sleeve.

Paul Roos, or apparently a Leigh Matthews return. Would definitely prefer Roos. Of course, knowing us, we'll just promote Mark Harvey.

I think I read that Roos was up in Brisbane recently though. But in saying that he has been linked with west coast because some fool made up a story he bought a house over here. Which turned out was news to Roos lol.

Why would Roos give up his quite comfortable job in punditry to put his rep back on the line with Brisbane?

Glad he's gone. Although the manner and timing are all wrong, as you'd expect from our board.

Paul Roos quits football: 3 years later he's almost definitely changed his mind and wants to coach Brisbane. Flawed logic is flawed.

Roos has said he doesn't want to coach, but the only lure would be that he is a Fitzroy boy. Still find it unlikely, but surely they do have someone big lined up to make the call now

Last year's average crowds were the AFL's lowest since 1996. You'd wanna hope the crowds were improving. The fall was obviously due to the introduction of the two new expansion sides. No surprise there. When the Bears and Eagles entered back in 1987, the crowd average that year was the lowest for 34 years. Take both the Suns and Giants crowds off and the average of the other 16 clubs is on par with the comp's average pre-Sun/Giants (~36k). In any case even ignoring that, the completion of the redevelopments of Kardinia Park (Geelong), Adelaide Oval and the SCG plus the upcoming new 60-70k Perth stadium will see average AFL crowds rise even further. Compare that with the NRL crowds that have fallen away quite a bit this year (average down to 15k per game) and they don't have expansion as an excuse. It won't surprise me that within the next decade A-league average crowds will end up higher than the NRL's.

Now there's talk that our plan is to work on a succession plan, so hire a Senior, experienced coach, who will help pick an assistant manager, who he then grooms to replace him after 2/3 seasons. Like Sheedy/Cameron, Malthouse/Buckley. Ugh, just none of how this is being handled sounds good to me. None of it. Honestly, if we can't get Roos, I'd be happy with Harvey. Bloke was actually quite a good coach, just got stabbed in the back at Freo.

I actually think Harvey would be a good choice. The thing is, the way that it has been handled, they have to find someone who is a lot more high profile than Voss, after Roos you have Williams and Eade down a level, and after that I wouldn't say any candidate strikes me as significantly better than Voss.
