This. 5 mins for first half... then play to 5 mins in 2nd half... if there is a winner them game over. If not then sound the siren but continue til golden point. At least then everyone knows youve got "this long" to get back in the game if the opposition scores. The only problem with that is if team A pots a field goal team B will then try and level with one of their own. It becomes 10 minutes of teams trying to kick a field goal. If it's tied after 10 then you're back to rubbish golden point which will likely be a field goal. (Which is what they're whinging about in the first place.) My version guarantees a better result. The problem isn't kicking a field goal. The problem is you can lose the biggest game of the year in extra time without touching the ball. The issue would be the same if Thurston had scored a try instead of a field goal. You need a right of reply as the opposition. If they score at the end of the extra time well it's tough luck just like normal time. But when you concede 1 minute in and the game ends it just seems unnecessarily harsh IMO. I agree, I imagine if the Broncos had stormed 60 metres down the field and slotted a field goal on the first set of golden point, the Cowboys fans would have felt pretty hard done by. I think 10 mins of extra time should be introduced. Maybe even look to the NHL for inspiration where during extra time it drops down from 5v5 to 4v4. So maybe have 2 less guys each team during extra time to open the field up and encourage teams to go for the try rather then field goal.

Add in Kenny Dowell and Ferguson, 2 of the bigger names. Didn't Inglis hit his wife and while they were separated knocked up his ex ? But let's face it, if they kicked out everyone who had a run in with the law they'd loose a good number of players  And they've already shown they are willing to let convicted criminals back into the league with Wicks and Packer so that sets a precedent

So turns out the contract for Maty Taupau's deal with Manly, instead of being sent to the Manly CEO, was emailed to some Canadian theatre critic, who then promptly announced the deal, ending in 2019, on twitter

Think I've finally licked my wounds after that match. :(
Was an absolute bitch taking a train down but the ride home was so dam long (also had the flu at that stage as well)
The stadium felt like a shithole in the middle of nowhere, we were up in the third tier so had to walk up this long spiraling ramp to get to our seats. We were running a bit late (stupid busses) and missed the first 20 minutes of the under 20's.
Anyway we got a bit bored after a while and decided to head down and try to find somewhere for lunch, walked down that stupid spiral ramp only to be greeted by a couple of fuckwit security guards who wouldn't let us out of the stadium. So instead we had to fork over $17 for some truly vile stadium food. :x
Only positive of the day was with the whole stadium cheering on the Ipswich Jets. :d
Cold Chisel weren't bad either.
Anyway onto the game, I remember we raced to an 8 nil lead or something and than Gillett proceeded to knock it on after we scored some points in our own end. Was so pissed you just have to complete your sets after scoring points, the Cowboys would score and take all the momentum we had as well after that. :x
Was also frustrated with some aspects of the refereeing (particularly in the first half just with the consistency of calls).
But anyway I remember counting down the last 10 seconds of the match only for O'Neil (I think it was) score right in front of us. From that moment on I knew we'd lost, if only we flopped all over the play the ball and gave up a penalty.
Have never felt so gutted at a sports match before while they were blaring out Rhinestone Cowboy over the loudspeakers at the end of the match.
Oh well JAMES FUCKING ROBERTS \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/ \:d/

Jennings won't have much of an impact at Parramatta as expected. Club won't know how to use him properly.

Quote:Burgess hailed a hero for saving choking man
January 22, 2016 12:51pm By Sportal Sam Burgess is said to have come to the rescue of a choking man in Sydney Fish Market on Friday. South Sydney Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess has been labelled a hero for reportedly saving a man's life when he choked on seafood in a fish-eating challenge. Foxsports.com.au said the Rabbitohs squad were partaking in the challenge at the Sydney Fish Market on Friday when a member of staff from Decosti Seafood joined in. The man, who was not named, was said to have got into difficulties when food was caught in his throat - prompting Burgess to intervene. Burgess, who rejoined the Rabbitohs last November after opting to switch codes again after playing for England in their dismal Rugby World Cup campaign, has now been hailed as a potential lifesaver. A witness told foxsports.com.au: "The Souths boys were at work doing a fish-eating challenge and then one of the managers got involved.
"They were eating and some seafood got caught in his throat and he started choking. Sam raced straight over and grabbed him and started putting his body weight on him to try and get it out.
"He was helping him for about 30 to 40 seconds and instead of spitting it out he ended up swallowing it, but if Sam hadn't have helped it could have been bad. I'm telling you Sam is a hero." Sydney Fish Market tweeted: "All we can say is that @SamBurgess8 is a true #hero. And we are not talking about on the footy field. @SSFCRABBITOHS #lifesaver #thankyou." http://www.sportal.co.nz/league/nrl-premiership/burgess-hailed-a-hero-for-saving-choking-man/rlnu4qe0310t1r2i91y6dbg7u I picked the Shrek version because its NRL.

Quote:Sydney Roosters star Mitchell Pearce caught in lewd video 9 minutes ago The Daily Telegraph
Roosters player Mitchell Pearce. NSW Origin star Mitchell Pearce’s career is in tatters after he was filmed simulating a lewd act with a dog at an Australia Day house party in Sydney.
The clip, set to be released at 7:30pm here at The Daily Telegraph, was filmed by a fellow partygoer.
The video also shows a drunk Pearce trying to kiss a woman and also urinating on himself.
Pearce, 26, had earlier posted photographs on Instagram of himself and Roosters team mates heading out for a harbour cruise following an early morning training session.
The latest incident follows the infamous ‘woman in the yellow dress’ scandal from 2013 which saw Pearce evicted from a Sydney pub. Why? Why are rugby players such fuckwits? -PB

So Pearce will apparently be stripped of the captaincy, fined $50k and banned from the World Club Series as well as a 6 match ban from the NRL.
Feel sorry for Carney

What annoys me most is this is like Pearce's 4th or 5th fuck up now, seriously how hard is it to recognize you've got a problem and stay off the booze. You only have a short career. I can't really see the Roosters playing JNik & Hastings together, bring in someone like Scott Dureau maybe?
