Classic game. 3 field goals in that game bringing the score to 2-1, with a late Dragons try giving them the win.

Anthony Watts and Todd Carney both suspended indefinitely. Roosters are an absolute joke if they don't tear up Carney's contract.

Should tear up both of their contracts. How many chances does carney need before he realises he can't keep acting like an absolute fuckhead without any consequences. It's a joke.

Watts contract should have been ripped up on the spot... that's just deplorable behaviour... Carney is guilty by association, which is a touch unfair, yeah he has a drinking issue, but heaps of young males do, until he does something properly wrong again then okay the contract can go... but i dont think you can rip up a bloke's contract for having a drink, even with somebodys past record like Carney

This from a bloke who pleaded that he'd changed after fighting off a drink driving charge. The guy can't go without the drink and is not worth the trouble if he's not going to be able to go without it. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 20/4/2011 02:13:25 PM

If he was not such a big name player, Carney's contract would be ripped up by now. As far as Watts is concerned, he should definitely be gone. Who hits a woman

Edited by sydneycroatia58: 20/4/2011 02:13:25 PM I agree to an extent, at Canterbury and some other clubs this sort of behaviour wouldn't be tolerated, but i don't think it's a significant breach of contract to rip it up over... the club have done the right thing to suspend him (has he been fined, he should be for breach of rules to be out drinking in those circumstances and that situation while recovering from injury) and he should have to attend therapy, it should be a clause in his contract that he has certain obligations towards rehabilitation although i think you have to consider, this isn't an ordinary workplace and the level of scrutiny is extremely high on young males, more than i could deal with if i was put in those sort of circumstances, when you put into context the average drinking habits of young males... I'm not defending Carney for being an alco and abit of a grub (c'mon who has those tatoos - i will exercise this double standard cause i do love Dane Swann :p ) but i think you should consider things before you go out and say sack the barstad

All I'm saying is how many chances does this guy get before he realises you can't continually violate club policy, and lie to the club about your whereabouts just to go out drinking with mates. Especially when you've got a long history of drinking problems.

Especially when you've got a long history of drinking problems. well the question here should be asked, the player and the club both have a responsibility to each other, the player in this case hasn't been totally responsible, what should the club's actions be, what is the best action to make for both parties, to get rid of Carney is both good and bad, what does that say about a club that cuts a bloke for having a drink but doesn't cut a bloke who shitted in hallways... what would happen to a bloke like Carney without a football club, probably get worse and got down the gutter... so if he was to get cut it's a statement in short that the club won't tolerate things anymore but at the same time your pretty much sentencing the bloke to an endless binge at the same time

And that's his own problem. If this was the first time something like this had happened then no worries let it go, but this is gonna keep happening as long as Carney keeps getting away with it. He hasn't learnt his lesson already, and I don't see it happening any time soon.
