Watching the Dally M's and the classic grand finals that are on atm got me thinking about which players from this generation will be immortals. Lockyer, Smith and JT are almost certainties, and considering Joey crosses over with them as well is there room for any more, considering there's only been 8 in 100 years. It seems silly to say GI and Slater won't be, but watching players like Sterling, Stuart, Daley, Fittler and Langer won't be makes you how tough it is to become one.

I read an article on the Dally M just before, and in the whole thing there were heaps of names dropped but not once was GI in there.
Which I find odd or wrong to me, because he has been my favourite player to watch since Hindmarsh.

GI has not been as consistant as Thurston - no way at all, Hayne tbh I would question.

I don't like the 3-2-1 points system, but there really isn't any other way to do it. For example, Inglis and Burgess are probably both in the best 5 players in the world, so every time Souths win, they are always gonna have tougher competition to get the 3 points. Hayne at the Eels has 0 competition, so almost every Eels win ends up being 3 points for him.
I have no doubt Thurston was the best player this year, but James Graham and Burgess wouldn't be far behind. Sadly it seems they play the wrong position to win it.

yer well the forwards are always overlooked ? Checking back to 2000 12 Player of the Year have been Halfback/fullbacks barring 04 Buderus 06 Cam Smith. Always a stacked deck towards the play makers or impact players. I agree there should be a better fairer system for the quiet achievers are the forwards making the ground most times for the attacking players. Yer Hayne was a shoe in playing for parra.

Is there a particular reason why Hunt was not in the team of the season? Had the highest Dally M points out of all the halfbacks and from memory he was statistically better than DCE in almost everything (Hell I think he was statistically better than every play-maker).
Do they not judge this team on performance?

Your to one eyed RB, typically a qlder :) So a team finishing 2nd compared to your lot in 8th may give refs the indicator why Hunt wasn't where it counted at the end. DCE form was that he was near on taking Cronks position for the kangaroos against many thinking he should have, get on to Origin for your lot as well, yep his form slide the last weeks but obviously done enough. He saved the Eagles bacon many times over the season as well as owning some games as the canbra rout he was untouchable. Obviously he did enough for the spot - maybe Hunt next season but I doubt it ;)

Well DCE is Qlder so can't be being one-eyed. ;) Hunt carried us all season, You guys had superb structure and tactics where the likes of Stewart, DCE and Foran can chime in once you guys had control of the game. We didn't have that, we had give it to Hunt he'll do everything for us. DCE form was mainly from the end of last season and briefly at the start of the season. The only reason he got the 7 spot in origin was because of injury and he was rather anonymous from that point on in the season. With many labeling him a flat-track bully. In terms of Dally M votes Hunt finished on 28, DCE on 23. Now in terms of stats: http://livescores.smh.com.au/nrl/playerstats.html?refresh=1412060875280Hunt 13 tries (overall rank of 14th, highest halfback) DCE not listed here but on NRL Supercoach has him down for 3 tries. Hunt 19 try assists (overall rank of 5th), DCE 13 try assists (overall rank of 12th). Hunt 19 linebreaks (overall rank 2nd, highest halfback), DCE not listed here but on NRL Supercoach has him down for 10 line-breaks. Hunt 14 Linebreak Assists (overall rank 7th), DCE again not listed here, can't find anything on NRL Supercoach for this stat. These are pretty core stats and Hunt has just blown DCE off the park here. No doubt DCE is a great player and he's achieved far more than Hunt in the game, but this year just wasn't his and the stats show that.

Better give this a bump for tomorrow.
Should be a good match, I think. Souths will be under big pressure, whereas the bulldogs have flown under the radar.
It's also a confirmed sellout for tomorrow.

After Sam Burgess Isaac Luke is their most important player. He will be a huge loss. I'm thinking the dogs might edge it

Unlike 2012 where I thought we'd win today is the exact opposite. Have no expectations whatsoever.

I went to the 2012 GF pretty confident we would win and the trip home was miserable. This year I'm not even that excited. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be saddened by a loss, but my expectations are so low that I doubt I'll care that much. (Should we manage to jag a win however...!)

I didn't think you were a chance in 12 and you guys never looked like getting anywhere near Melbourne. I really believe you guys will win tonight, and watching the two teams in the change room so far has only made think that more

The Dirty Dogs v The BabyShits. What a spectacle! Where's Gus Gould to harp on about some bullshit?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Shutup Ken Sutcliff. Seriously. The drooling hype the likes of Gus Gould and Ken Sutcliffe is one of the reasons why I've become so disillusioned with Rugby League. Honestly, they pander to the lowest demographics of society who lap it up like a panting dog.

He might not be a likable bloke, but I don't think anyone has ever known rugby league better than Phil Gould. The bloke is an absolute genius

Refs are still gutless Bulldogs should have one player in the bin. Why was Mbye not penalized for his Judo trip?
Sutcliff sounded like he was drunk and wtf were they thinking with Slash pre-game.
