I feel so sorry for Williams driver Pastor Maldonado - he got spun off by Lewis Hamilton on the first corner after the red flag. It was a cunt act, and was out of sheer fustration by Hamilton. I like Hamilton but it was a dog act, Maldonado would have probably finished 6th, well inside the points too, IIRC they were saying it would have been his first points finish.

Glad Hamilton got a 20-second penalty for it, but he still finished 6th - where Maldonado would have finished. Should have been a 30-second penalty.

Force India's Paul Di Resta had a pretty dirty race, caused an accident early on on the hairpin, and recieved a DTP for that, and then he crashed into the back of someone else later on. I think it was him who was also involved in all the chaos that led to the red flag down at the Swimming Pool.

Still, Quite an entertaining race. Webber did well after his fucked up pit stop, finishing 4th from 16th. I love the Monaco Race, it's brilliant.

Canada next round.

Final Placings

1. Sebastian Vettel - (Red Bull Racing)
2. Fernando Alonso - (Ferrari)
3. Jenson Button - (McLaren-Mercedes)
4. Mark Webber - (Red Bull Racing)
5. Kamui Kobayashi - (Sauber-Ferrari)
6. Lewis Hamilton - (McLaren-Mercedes)
7. Adrian Sutil - (Force India)
8. Nick Heidfeld - (Renault)
9. Rubens Barrichello - (Williams-Cosworth)
10. Sébastien Buemi - (Torro-Rosso Ferrari)
11. Nico Rosberg - (Mercedes)
12. Paul di Resta (Force India)
13. Jarno Trulli - (Lotus-Renault)
14. Heikki Kovalainen - (Lotus Renault)
15. Jérôme d'Ambrosio - (Virgin-Cosworth)
16. Vitantonio Liuzzi - (HRT-Cosworth)
17. Narain Karthikeyan - (HRT-Cosworth)

Retirees:

18: Pastor Maldonado - (Williams-Cosworth) = Collision on Lap 73
--: Vitaly Petrov - (Renault) = Collision on Lap 67
--: Jaime Alguersuari (Torro-Rosso Ferrari) = Collision on lap 66
--: Felipe Massa - (Ferrari) = Accident on lap 32
--: Michael Schumacher - (Mercedes) = Engine Failure on lap 32
--: Timo Glock - (Virgin Cosworth) = Suspension Damage on lap 30.
DNS: Sergio Pérez - (Sauber-Ferrari) = Did not start do to injured from crashing in Qualifying.

* Pastor Maldonado was placed in the finishing standings despite crashing because he had completed over 90% of the race distance.

Driver Points/Standings

1: Sebastian Vettel = 143
2: Lewis Hamilton = 85
3: Mark Webber = 79
4: Jenson Button = 76
5: Fernando Alonso = 69
6: Nick Heidfeld = 29

12: Adrian Sutil = 8
13: Sebastien Buemi = 7
14: Rubens Barrichello = 2
15: Sergio Perez = 2
16: Paul di Resta = 2

* Pretty sure it's safe to say Sebastian Vettel has won this season. I can't see any driver catching up to him, he's won 5 out of the 6 races thus far. Button has looked impressive, yet still a long cut below Vettel, none of the Ferrari's looks capable of catching him, and unfortunatly Webber looks to just be a passanger, someone who'll help Red Bull Racing win the constructor title by finishing respectably in each race.

Constructor Standings

1: Red Bull Racing-Renault = 222
2: McLaren-Mercedes = 161
3: Ferrari = 93
4: Renault = 50
5: Mercedes = 40
6: Sauber-Ferrari = 21

I don't get the Vettel hate.

Is it because he's a bit cocky? Is it because his team chose him over Webber? Is it because he's better than Webber? Is it because he wins too much? Is it because he's German? Is it because he took out Webber a couple of seasons ago when he was about to get his first ever win?

I don't get it. The lad's an amazing drive.

I think there's a corresponding variable between people's love for Webber, and hatred for Vettel. The more you love Webber, the more you hate Vettel. The less you think of Webber, the more you like Vettel.

Hamilton's a douche. No love for him whatsoever.

I like Webber, but I don't hate Vettel. I think most people are annoyed that Vettel 'stole' Mark's crown last year and this year he's won nearly every race, thus depraving Mark of another go at the title. It is frustrating when one person wins all the time, but I don't hate him for it, he's just a really talented driver.

Hamilton really likes digging himself into a grave. He gave an interview after the race yesterday, and when questioned on the two incidents that the stewarts were looking into he said

"Maybe it's because i'm black"...

Hmmmm. I bet that went down well in the stewards room.

I understand, he chucked, and so do did the interviewer, but it created an uproar in FIA circles. You can understand him being upset, but Hamilton isn't my favorite driver, I much prefer Jenson Button.

This. Vettel is an immensely talented driver. The only reason there's all the 'hate' for Vettel is because the team backed him ahead of Webber. And geeze, I can't imagine why they backed "the next big thing", a guy who's likely going to charge to this year's title and is at the start of his career ahead of a 34 year old who's accident prone and at the twilight of his career!

Lewis Hamilton is a joke. The dude can't drive for peanuts. Takes unnecessary risks and blames everyone around him instead of accepting responsibilty for his actions. He needs to up his game or he's going to find himself out on his arse faster than Jacques Villeneuve.

I understand that and all. I like Webber, he's just calm and composed most of the time, but there's a certain arrogance about Vettel I just dislike immensely. Sure, Webber's not the best driver on the tour, but he's hald decent. I'm a big fan of Jenson Button, and I think in the coming years Vitaly Petrov will be very good.

Vettel is no more arrogant than Button. It's just the 'german' persona. He's generally a pretty nice guy who performs on confidence. He's FAR less arogant than Hamilton. I want to see the Aussie do well and all, but I can completely understand why RBR backed Vettel ahead of him and don't get all the hate. Button's a really nice guy.

Petrov I think will be like Fisichella. He'll perform really well for mediocre teams but he'll never manage the pressure at a big team.

Bahrain have given up on being able to hold the race this year. Initially the hope was that they'd be able to slot it in at the back of the season - they were scheduled for Round 3 - and race the last race in Bahrain, but they've officially given up on the Idea.

Pretty smart, the situation over there doesn't look like it's going to get easier any time soon, along with Syria and Yemen.

Quote:
Bahrain Grand Prix organisers have now given up on their hopes of holding a Formula 1 race this year, leaving the way open for India to have its October 30 date reinstated.

After a dramatic six days since last Friday's decision by the FIA to slot the Bahrain GP back in the calendar and push India to December 11, chiefs at the Sakhir circuit acknowledged on Thursday night that the race was now definitely off.

Earlier in the day FIA president Jean Todt said he had asked Bernie Ecclestone to resubmit a calendar in the wake of complaints from teams about the logistical problems of racing in Bahrain and extending the season into December.

With that decision leaving the way open for Ecclestone to remove Bahrain from the calendar, chiefs from the Gulf island state acknowledged that there was no chance of the race taking place this year.

Bahrain International Circuit chairman Zayed R Alzayani said that, with teams unhappy about the calendar reshuffle, there was little point in pushing for an event that would lead to problems for F1's competitors.

"Whilst Bahrain would have been delighted to see the grand prix progress on October 30th in-line with the World Motor Sport Council's decision, it has been made clear that this fixture cannot progress and we fully respect that decision," he said in a statement.

"Bahrain has always sought to play a positive role in the continued development of Formula 1, from pioneering F1 racing in the Middle East, to helping other countries in facilitating their own races in new territories, as well as providing our own unique experience and universal welcome to grand prix supporters."

He added: "Bahrain has absolutely no desire to see a race which would further extend the calendar season [and] detract from the enjoyment of F1 for either drivers, teams or supporters. We want our role in Formula 1 to continue to be as positive and constructive as it has always been, therefore, in the best interest of the sport, we will not pursue the rescheduling of a race this season.

"We look forward to welcoming teams, their drivers and supporters back to Bahrain next year and would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our supporters, including staff, volunteers, sponsors, private businesses and the general public, for whom I know this year's decision will be a disappointment.

"We would also especially like to thank the FIA, FOM, the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) and the teams for all support and understanding they have extended to us at this time."

It is not clear when the official revisions to the calendar will now be made, but with India set to be return to its October 30 date, the 2011 season will now finish in Brazil on November 27.

And iv'e just read this article - due to Bahrain pulling out, India is definitely holding it!

Quote:
First Indian F1 Grand Prix Race on 30th October 2011 at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

After a week full of drama, finally India will host its first F1 Grand Prix on its original scheduled date of 30th October 2011 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

This decision comes after Bahrain has accepted not to host a Formula One Grand Prix in 2011.

Bahrain’s 2011 Grand Prix race which was considered to be the season opener race in March 2011 was called off but the World Motor Sport Council controversially agreed last week to extend the calendar to December and give Bahrain India’s original 30th October race date.

But now after teams objected to it being rescheduled in October, the organisers of Bahrain Grand Prix accepted the cancellation of their postponed Formula One race on Thursday.

“Whilst Bahrain would have been delighted to see the Grand Prix progress on October 30th … it has been made clear that this fixture cannot progress and we fully respect that decision,” circuit chairman Zayed Alzayani said in a statement.

“We want our role in Formula One to continue to be as positive and constructive as it has always been, therefore, in the best interest of the sport, we will not pursue the rescheduling of a race this season,” he added.

The race at the Sakhir circuit had originally been scheduled as the March season-opener but was postponed after bloody unrest and a crackdown on anti-government protesters in the Gulf kingdom.

After giving Bahrain months to decide whether they were in a position to hold the race, the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced last Friday that it would be rescheduled for Oct. 30.

The inaugural Indian Grand Prix that had been scheduled for that date was moved to Dec. 11, but will now revert to the original slot.

The teams had said they were against any rescheduling on logistical grounds, with commitments already made for a race in India on 30th October 2011 and did not want to race in December, calling the revised calendar ‘unrealistic’.

The decision by Bahrain not to host the race meant the season will now have 19 races, rather than a record 20, and will end in Brazil on Nov. 27.

I am sure all Indians are eagerly waiting for 30th October 2011 when they can see F1 cars racing on Indian Soil.
