I have to say, after devoting the past 6 months to reading and buying all of the novels (some of them twice since selling them previously) I am satisfied and hope that the one loose end isn't pulled on by Publishers to get Feist to return to Medkemia and ruin an otherwise brilliant Series.
though I do need to add that Feist fails many times with his linergy as I'd read about something happening and then 2-3 books later that person seems to have never been there or had that child. Main issues with Talon of the Silver Hawk and Exiles return but you get that I guess. Are you talking about all the sequel series? I've only read the first 3 books. I've heard the Daughter of the Empire series is good but the others are a bit meh. Surprised there hasn't been a Magician movie/series yet. Only a matter of time? Could easily do 2 movies based on the 2 parts of that book. Or a decently budgeted TV show to flesh it out a bit more. Edited by Erebus: 3/10/2013 03:30:20 PM

Edited by Erebus: 3/10/2013 03:30:20 PM yeah, im talking all 30 books including the co-written legacy, Krondor and Daughter series. Yeah, they do wain some what after Serpent War Saga but they pick up again in the final 3. I saw Feist at Supanova and that question came up, but he's always turned down these people as they wanted to make hem but not pay him his royalties and give him artistic control of his base material. He did say that after he left Sydney he had a meeting in Hollyweird to discuss Magician again, so who knows. we may yet. after all GoT as reignited interest in fantasy and those ring and hobbit films are doing okay.

I just finished reading the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. If you enjoy fantasy you will really enjoy Sanderson's work and this series is one of my favourites.
Next up I need to start on the Wheel of Time series after finals.

Mistborn is on my shelf waiting to be read. I've heard they are really good and Sanderson pumps out books like no tomorrow.

Mistborn looks interesting, may add it to the future readings list but to many in the library currently.
Picked up Closure Limited By Max Brooks today, short stories from the Zombie apocalypse and also ordered Every where we go by Dougie Brimson Story of English Hooliganism on tour. He's written about a dozen hooligan and football related books Fiction and non fiction and is the mastermind behind Green Street Hooligans (he states that it would have been a different film had he been allowed to have input during the filming). they're also turning The Crew into a film which is his first Fictional Hooligan story.

I guess it just shows you really can never trust the media. The owner or writer normally have their own agenda, making it very difficult to get 'facts' if they exist.

Just started reading Game of Thrones, book 1 of the Song of ice and fire, and WOW!!!!! only 80 odd pages into this 800 page epic and it is just so enthralling! truly a well written book. It has that ring of a story you wish to read as quickly as possible yet slowly so as not to miss any details! fantastic! It really is!

Now at the other end of Game of Thrones, this is seriously the most twisted and politically intrigued Fantasy Novel I have ever read!
Can anyone tell me if I watch the first season before I finish books 2-5 will I be shown any spoilers? are each season a copy of each book or do they move parts around?

Going to get very complicated. Basically, keep reading fast if you want to stay ahead of the show.

I'm 40 pages from the end of GoT and thusly will be starting Clash of Kings tonight (uber excited). With the Xmas season approaching i'm going to have some spare time to spend not doing anything and I could well use that time watching GoT; I think.

I was reading the 3rd alongside watching series 3 - sometimes I was ahead, sometimes a little behind (I don't read that often) - when the series ended I kept reading and as a result I know the next 3-4 episodes worth of story... Will be waiting for the show to catch up now... Not sure what I'll do with it once it does - maybe get 4 & 5 and start reading a few chapters of each...

Anyone recommend some good novels/series to get into. I usually read musical/sporting biographies, and have read some of the classics like LOTR, 1984. Trying to avoid Game of Thrones or Hunger Games as is prefer to see the completion of the show/movies first

Watching Season 1 after reading Game of Thrones should be fine. However as the Seasons progress more and more minor plot points that are brought up in later books start to be hinted at or shown in the TV show earlier than expected. Its basically because of less characters and the different medium. Seriously though, if you waited til you finished all the books, it only takes a week to watch a season haha (2 eps a night). And I think they're better watched that way anyway.

Covers US history through the 60s and 70s, assassinations, Vietnam, organised crime, etc. Written by James Ellroy. Last part isn't as good - possibly due to Ellroy falling in love when he was writing it and going all I-Love-Women, rather than I-Fuck-Women.

Currently half way through A Dance With Dragon. I got fed up with people spoiling things so I've decided to press ahead of the TV show. Absolutely fantastic read, one of the best (if not the best) series I've read.

A bit of a variety there of authors I have liked in the past, mostly. I read enormous amounts when I was younger, not so much now.

Been listening to Marvel Comics: The Untold Story over the past few days. Absolutely fascinating if you have any interest in the comic book industry. Stan Lee is an amazing figure, equal measure of peace-broker, king maker and ultra pragmatic businessman. There are very few times in the history of Marvel that it sounds like it was a fun place to work; other than the early 70's when all the Dr Strange writers & artists were dropping acid daily and running around NYC acting out scene & philosophy ideas for the comics. http://www.audible.com/pd/Arts-Entertainment/Marvel-Comics-Audiobook/B00B03GMNU

Currently reading Moneyball. Fantastic so far. Loved the movie & am loving the book.
While on holidays I read: - Dennis Bergkamp's new autobiog (best football book I've read) - I am the Secret Footballer (great, must-read!) - Inverting the Pyramid (pretty heavy, but really interesting)
