I dont see hwo Duplan could have signed. We have 5 Foreigners, Henrqiue, Do, Broich, Miller and Bes.

Unless Henrique has been naturalised or Do has been let go or sold, then im not sure it would be a sanctioned move.

The CM had a paragraph on Saturday saying that Do might stay behind in Korea. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I assume Duplan will be our replacement for Nichols.

Do would only be on minimum wage surely, so shouldn't be to much of a hit to release him with 2 years to go. Very exciting if Duplan has signed

Also Miller is Nichols replacement, Duplan is a winger so will take over from Halloran.

Would much prefer a fee for Do. If hes got 2 years on his contract left then im sure we can get something for him.

Who would pay a fee for a guy who didn't exactly light up the youth league? Should only be 100k to release him, consider it a "transfer" fee for the incoming guys.

Stars missing as Roar begin pre-season training

THREE of Brisbane Roar's five-man foreign contingent were missing when the A-League club started pre-season training at Ballymore.

While new Irish signing Liam Miller and star German import Thomas Broich were present, Besart Berisha, Henrique and Do Dong-Hyun were missing on Monday.

Albanian international Berisha has been given an extra week off, while visa problems have delayed Henrique's return from Brazil, with the South American livewire now due to arrive later this week.

South Korean Do also remains at home and there's no guarantee he will return, with the Roar keen to offload him to allow them to sign another visa player.

French attacker Edouard Duplan is understood to be the Roar's main target, but Brisbane coach Mike Mulvey is keeping his cards close to his chest.

"We are looking at quite a number of players," said Mulvey, who plans to make four more signings in the pre-season.

"I had two long-range (foreign) targets in mind. I went to watch them both play, and we approached one and we'll await an answer on that one.

"There's other movement happening, which will become apparent in the next few weeks."

Mulvey visited Central America and Europe on his off-season travels, with a Costa Rican attacker among the players in his sights.

The Roar mentor was hopeful that Henrique's bid for Australian citizenship would be successful well before the start of the 2013-14 A-League season in October.

"We're lead to believe it could be a very good case for August," Mulvey said.

Also missing on Monday was Socceroos pair Jade North and Ivan Franjic, but Roar skipper Matt Smith made a welcome return to full training after missing the final three months of last season with a serious hip injury that required surgery.

This Costa Rica news does not fill me with great joy to be honest. The fact that their are some brilliant players available on a free and perhaps even being linked with Duplan, i really dont see anyone from Costa Rica who could do the job.

Been very quiet the last couple of days. Anyone heard anything?

Nothing much really. I've heard Lustica was offered a very small fee by Mike to stay and be said no. Apart from that, nothing.

I'm fairly certain he was in one of the young Korean national teams. So maybe a K-league club might want him but we wouldn't really get anything for him. Hopefully it will be mutual termination.
