I wouldn't turn him down. But I'd prefer this player to be quite versatile and be able to play on the wings and as a back up striker. Besides I'd rather not have another 'older' player in the midfield as well.

Bit concerning that we've lost Mass, Nichols, Lustica, Halloran and Nijland yet have only picked up Ferreira and Petratos and do is still there taking up a potential decent foreign player spot.

Franjic will take over Halloran's spot.

Mass/Lustica is one spot in the starting 11, Miller will take over that role.

Nichols/Nijland is also one spot in the starting 11, we need replacement for this spot.

Very happy with our lineup. Plus we have Donachie and brown who would be starting at any other club and also lamba on the bench. And Davies, Petratos, Ferreira pushing for a spot.

I'd be tempted to play Donachie at DM and push either Brattan or Miller forward. After last season Donachie needs to be playing 90 mins each week and he is a great passer of the ball and was very comfortable last season going forward with the ball at his feet.

I forgot about Miller, Nichols replacement needs to be quality.

There is no such thing as a simple transition from CB to DM. He may be good on the ball, but can he play with his back to goal?? Becoming an accomplished holding midfielder isn't something that happens overnight.....

if you watch brisbanes games berisha gets starved of the ball and has to drift out of his position upfront just to get a touch, i reckon if he plays cam/cf he would score more because he would recieve more ball, berisha is calm on the ball and has a good pass so cam/cf would suit him imo

The line up proposed above would constitute the smallest team in the history of the A-League.

Donachie will be needed for height. I think he'll end up at RB instead of Hingert which is a shame. Hingert can only blame his brick foot if it happens.

We still don't have a good dedicated back up striker either.

The changes so far are overall not impressive.

...and if you watch Brisbane you'd realise that this is an issue of supply and the last thing we should do is remove the spearhead to fix the shaft. As things stand Berisha still scored 14 goals last season despite the comparatively poor service. Berisha is also the kind of player who is useful in that as a striker he does come deep to help when needed, but to push him there the entire time would be a pointless waste of his talents. He can, in the right circumstances, create chances for others, but his key strengths are in positioning himself to score and finding space, and this would be entirely wasted being the attacking midfielder. We need to make sure someone is feeding him rather than having him feeding vastly inferior players and wasting his strengths.

As for 'more of the ball' going to 'more goals'. Berisha has an alright strike, and can occasionally score coming from deep with the ball, but this is the exception with him, and his goals (and you'd notice this if you watch Brisbane) are mostly from very intelligent positioning and an ability to anticipate play, rather than raw technical ability. Putting him in a position where he can't use his key attributes would be ridiculous, particularly when we don't have a player even close to his scoring ability at the club.

He's got a whole preseason so more then overnight ..... And his back to which goal? That doesn't really make sense either way.

One preseason is not enough to change positions, just because he is neat with the ball doesn't mean he should be converted to a DM.

Remember he was playing CAM when Ange signed him.

awesome, so what we got a spare visa place now? I hope we can find a quality CAM or CM and roar will be good.

Thank god for that! Can't wait to see who we bring in now. It would have to be a CAM though surely.

Also Ricky is back in the country after his Visa issues cleared up and is on track for his citizenship in late August.

so that means, we could get another visa player in January?

Should be able to bring two in before the start of the season but that depends on the cap as well.

We're hoping to secure another by the start of the season hopefully, so we could have another 2 foreign players.

On Donachie playing CDM, I've never heard anything about him playing as a CAM. I think he could fill in at LB/RB. He's always been good going forward and has enough pace as well. But I think we'd see him at CB and North at RB if/when Hingert picks up an injury.

Bes just needs better supply this year. (Not to mention he played several matches with an injury). If fully fit I can see him scoring 15+ goals. Don't think Petratos is first 11 material at the moment either.

Honestly I don't care where Donachie plays, he just needs to be playing 90 minutes every week. He had a real break out season/ half season and it would be a great shame if his development was stalled for a year by not playing regularly.

The signings of Takahashi and Do really summed up the tone to the start to our last campaign I feel and I'm glad that Do has been let go.
I feel Mulvey really needs to get his next two signings spot on with some real quality and start the season with a bang.

Safe to assume that this was the Keatings that was trialing with us. Hmm.

So each season we see a youngster stand up and make his mark, so who does everyone think it will be this year?

For me it's between Lamba and Yeboah.
