BIGHUX wrote:State League player? I think
Also I really hope we are looking at better players than Kofi. I'd take him if we hadn't already got Petratos but we don't have room for two inconsistent ex Sydney wingers. Really need another genuine ready to go quality first 11 player I feel
Edited by bighux: 23/7/2013 09:05:22 PM Murray plays for brisbane city in the npl and is top goalscorer in that competition. Watched the game tonight- very impressed by Dimi-much better display than last week. Diogo also looked decent. Bratts and Miller bossed the midfield first half. Smith and Donachie were solid. This is the second week in a row that Murray has played. His first goal was a classy flick over the keeper's head from a corner and his second a cool finish from close range. Has an eye for goal no doubt. He comes from Scotland so not sure if he'd take up an import spot. If so, may discourage the roar from signing him. Others- Steff his usual marauding self. Brown-great finish but needs to work more on his defending. Hingert worked hard all night and was a constant menace. Doe was up and down- some nice touches intermingled with some sloppy work. Liftin was decent when he came on second half. 3 points to Bratts- played the whole game and was a beast. 2 points to Petratos- looked lively all night and was very positive. Perhaps only thing lacking was an extra couple of goals (had his chances) 1 point to Murray- well-taken goals and very sharp in and around the box. No Broich, Bes, Theo or Henrique (again). Am very excited about Miller- his combo with Bratts is mouth-watering. If we get our classy attacking midfielder import, I'd say we'll be well set for the year.

Decent read on Murray here. http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-9385-0-0-0&sID=269940&news_task=DETAIL&articleID=23230765Danning either injured his ACL or Achilles last season he might be just back in Brisbane recovering. Besides even if he does sign for us we still have plenty of spots.

So if we do't get a foreign CAM, maybe we'll lineup like this instead. In some instances we did play like this with Niljand. Theo Hingert North Smith Stef Franjic Miller Brattan Broich Murray Berisha Would be interesting.

Based on his wiki stats he looks like he would be an awful signing and he would be taking up a foreign spot. No harm to have him on trial though

Quote:Former Players Weekly Update: 24/07/13 Kosta Barbarouses (uncontracted) Kosta is apparently uncontracted right now, after the end of his loan spell at Greek side Panathinaikos. His parent club was Russian 2nd division side Alania Vladikavkaz. Would be a fantastic signing for Brisbane for the upcoming season, just saying… Kofi Danning (Uncontracted) Kofi too is looking for a new club after his Vise contract expired. Unfortunately for him he never had much of an impact over in Belgium due to a knee injury. Apparently he’s been at both of Brisbane’s pre-season fixtures so far. http://theroarreview.wordpress.com/2013/07/24/former-players-weekly-update-240713/ http://theroarreview.wordpress.com/2013/07/24/brisbane-beat-albany-creek-for-first-win-of-pre-season/

Good to see Miller backing up right after the all-stars match.
Kofi Danning - Must be trialling with the club - he and his family are from Canberra so obviously not home for the off-season. Would be better off for him to travel and play in China or another low European league than for him to waste away on the Roar bench.
Jamie Young - Do not need. Acton was developed by Roar and I would prefer that we stick with a youngster that came through our system.
Antonio Murray - Do not need. To be fair, from the video it looked like he played well. But, in the past 7 years he has played for three conference teams and Brisbane City. He is 28, would take a visa spot and push Davies and Keboah out of the squad.
Petratos and Ferreria looks like useful squad players. Would take Barbarouses back in a heart beat. Any word on Aryn Williams? is he still on trial?
Starting 11 is coming along nicely Broich, Berisha, Franjic and Miller are amongst the leagues best. Brattan, North, Smith, Steffanuto and Donachie will be solid. At the moment it looks like injures will hurt us again. Would need to round off the squad with two or three more good signings - can not waste visa spots again.

I personally don't rate Acton, if he's any good and we can pick him up for minimum wage, provided with have the cap space, I'd take him. theinsider wrote: Antonio Murray - Do not need. As the old saying goes don't judge a book by it's cover. If he performs well during his trial why shouldn't he be signed? Edited by Roar_Brisbane: 25/7/2013 02:02:55 PM

That was my first thoughts. I look forward to reading this strategic document. Will be interesting to see what Mulvey does with Jamie Young. Quote:We've got some decisions to make.

He doesn't need to be on a contract to play, he can be a triallist and still be on the team sheet. His name was next to No# 9, as an unused player. If he was a triallist he wouldn't have an official number, nor would Mulvey bother having him around the group with 5 months of rehab remaining. Everything points to him being a contracted player without a formal announcement as of yet. Edited by Mightyroar: 1/8/2013 11:44:37 AMEdited by Mightyroar: 1/8/2013 11:48:04 AM

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Lol that thread title confused me. I was wondering why on earth a W-League match would move to Townsville.
Double header with NQF?
