I've seen a few people saying that it was quite a non-Brisbane type performance but I think the credit for that goes to WSW. It's the first time this season that a team has managed to stay with Brisbane for the full 90 and successfully boss the midfield. Brattan and miller were constantly shut down and petratos was well marked. Franjic seemed a bit lost out on the left, hopefully McKay is back soon and the midfield can go back to a more familiar shape.
Great arm wrestle, this is looking the likely grand final match up, at suncorp of course 8)

I wouldn't say bossed the field, the first 10-15 we looked good, then after the goal we just weren't the same. After they scored they dropped off and we had a chance to win. We are missing Matty for sure, At the moment it does look like we will be seeing WSW in the Grand Final at Suncorp ;)

When you see where Haliti was when he knocked in the goal it is just embarrassing - a floated cross to 3m out and still Theo doesn't think it's his to claim.

Ditto against Sydney FC last year. Theo somehow managed to flail the ball into his own goal, marking it the only keeper's own goal that I ever witnessed.

wow that is impressive.

Id like to see Brattan compared to Nick Carle and Milligan, 2 Australian Marque players.. bet he is ahead of both combined this season.

Both have pretty good stats to be honest, i don't think its too heavily weighted in favour of Broich. Very impressive though, he is all class. Amazing how many fouls he draws as well, although if you look at most of the Euro imports they are much better at drawing fouls than our home grown guys. I think its more of a tactically taught thing in Europe than it is here, that and their ability on the ball is usually higher and they get targeted for it.

Starting to get concerned with our performances. Lots of ball possession, but no substance. Its starting to become a regular thing. The performances such as against MV and Sydney are something that need to be more consistent. We can easily lose the title if we continue like this.

Mulvey needs to get the tactics sorted and pick the best 11. We always not picking our best eleven. Out with Steff, North and Lustica. Miller, Brown and Donachie In.

I'm a little concerned going into the game against Heart. Even when they weren't playing well last season we still struggled against them. After this round we potentially could only be 4 points clear of second which is getting a little close for comfort. But in saying that victory. CCM and WSW have the ACL to deal with which I hope will cause them to drop points in the a league.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Adelaide climb into 2nd over the coming weeks.

We pretty much have a full strength side now available for selection, so there really aren't any excuses for not finishing the season on top of the ladder.

We really should have put the minor premiership to bed long time ago, giving us the chance to play around with selections, tactics, rest some players etc etc, but instead we have been very complacent and almost been reliant on other teams as well. We really need to turn up the ruthlessness.

I'd expect to see him at least in the squad this week.

Like I said, we slipping away. Not putting to bed what already should be our Premiers plate. Still playing liabilities in the team and playing a brand of football that is starting to come across as lazy. If you going to be top and a title contender, you need to be ruthless.

We pretty much keeping the other teams in the hunt by ourselves.

Need other players besides Berisha to start putting away a few. Would like to see Broich hit a purple patch. He's gone so close so many times the last few weeks.

I reckon if he bangs one in he'll get a dozen.

For the weekend, fitness permitting for all of course.. I'd go with
Theo
Hingert North Smith Brown
Brattan
Lustica McKay
Franjic Broich Petratos

I don't think Nico is fit enough to start a game, but i'd like to see him given about 20 - 30 mins instead of the 5-10 he's been getting all game.
Franjic is better up the park, Steffanuto needs to be dropped - Brown isn't going to get better on the bench or in the youth league.

I'll cave to Paulc here and say yeah, Miller probably should be dropped. I'm not sure if that's what the make up of the bench will be like though.

Thats what i would like to see. The only reason i want to see Bes benched is to give him some fire when he comes on. I don't think ricky should ever start a game, he is only good off the bench when the defense is tired. otherwise he will be out muscled and out paced. But all players need to lift, Brioch is the only one you can say has put in game after game.

WSW will clinch the premiership come round 26. 4 points is not big enough to play like this and still need to play your rival away.

I'd like to see either hingert or Donachie come in at RB and push Franjic further up the field. He gives us some creativity and trickery around the box.

Also Petratos must start instead of Henrique next week. Henrique is useless and fucks up atleast one great goal scoring chance a game either by missing from 6 yards out, not being tall enough for a 5 ft cross or simply getting pushed off the ball. Plus Petratos is a genuine goal threat, Henrique is not.

I don't think things are as bad as some think. The fact is the last two games we beat ourselves. We dominated possession against two teams that could do nothing except get everyone compact and behind the ball and wait for impatient roar players ,limited in options, to turn the ball over.Which they did time and time again.more patience and thought was needed to bring out the defence and open spaces.
Tactically we played the wrong game .Because NJ and MH needed to win more than the Roar did.Trying to pass through a compact defence was always going to be difficult and having players high up the field when a midfielder walks or passes into trouble in the center of the field is just asking for trouble.options are always available ,just more thought has to go into out thinking the compact defence and forcing the opposition to take some risks themselves.
