I reckon that would work as an option too. If it does become permanent, who do we have to prime to place in Stef's role when he eventually departs? It doesn't sound Mulvey feels too safe with Brown at left back and I can understand why. Donachie has played well on the right, maybe he can play on the left too? But we are light on for full backs.Hingert will get injured during the season.Just as night follows day.Bowles as an option is a nightmare. He is ok going forward but defensively is poor.I remember a game for AU where he cost them two goals. Maybe that fellow from Olympic will be an option if he gets picked up. Donachie has a not so good left foot and seems a tad risky for my liking at RB let alone LB. Probably why Mulvey has never played him there. It seems whilst we focus on the mid and striker situation the real problem lies at LB. Unless of course Stef fires up this season but that's unlikely due to his ageing body. Whats wrong with Donachie? Hes a quality defender and I have him penciled in as a future socceroo.

At centre back yes, absolutely. In fact I think that's where he should play and push North to RB where he's played on numerous occasions including with the Socceroos. He is a great player but TBO there's something missing form his game at RB and I would prefer Hingert there than Donachie. At LB I think Donachie would not do so well otherwise you would have had Mulvey trialling him there when Stef was out and Brown injured. Too slow at short distance, not sharp enough or something...............just can't put my finger on it at the moment.

It may just be because he has never played on the left before and has spent all his junior development years in the centre of defense? Being naturally right footed and then being asked to play a completely different position on your weaker side is a very big ask.

Yeah Cb and LB/RB are very different positons, especially in todays game. id like to see Donachie have a run at DM, he has the passing ability for it, id just like to see how he reads the game from there.

So the kit we are wearing now, is that our actual away kit? Surely not, I thought the club said they wouldn't have a black kit again because the players didn't like it.

Black in winter makes sense ,but in summer it's just plain crazy.I would expect the away kit will be predominately white.Although what we wear against Melb City, also predominantly white,I don't know.Maybe our home kit.

We never have to my recollection used a back 3 and probably never will play with a back 3 such is our system of having mobile, attacking overlapping full backs.

So, quick recap of ins and outs?
Out - Berisha, Franjic, Ferreira, Acton
In - Bowles, Kurtisi, Young,
??
With Bes and Franjic gone, surely there's some spare coin to sign another one or two decent players, I really hope Magic Mike and the team have an ace up the sleeve to pull out soon.

Keep in mind that we'll paying Lustica & JCS for a full season now not a couple of months. I assume Brattan would've received a better contract as well. Although hopefully enough cash for one good player.

I think we played Adnan, Smith and Jurman at the back for a few games in 2011-12 after the winning streak was over. I don't remember it working very well.

FIFA World Player of the Year returns to Brisbane Quote: Reigning FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Nadine Angerer will play another season in the Westfield W-League with Brisbane Roar today announcing the Germany captain has returned to the club for the 2014/15 campaign.
Arguably the biggest name to feature in Australia’s top women’s football competition, Angerer has been playing for Portland Thorns in the US’s National Women's Soccer League since the end of the Westfield W-League 2013/14 season and has also announced she will return to Oregon after this year’s Australian campaign as well.
The first goalkeeper to win the FIFA World’s Player of the Year award, last year’s UEFA Player of the Year, a two-time FIFA World Cup winner with also five UEFA European Championships to her name, Angerer’s remarkable career highlights speak for themselves. Brisbane Roar Head Coach Belinda Wilson was ecstatic to have retained the services of the experienced custodian ahead of the seventh edition of the Westfield W-League.
“It’s fantastic that as a club, we were able to succeed in bringing Nadine back to Brisbane,” Wilson said.
“Last season, her leadership qualities on and off the pitch enhanced the qualities we had within our squad and we now have a great understanding of her expectations here in Brisbane.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming Nadine back and seeing what more she can bring to Brisbane Roar.”
With Angerer on national team duty for the first two rounds of the Westfield W-League, the 35-year-old will be back with the Brisbane Roar squad ahead of the club’s Season Launch and round three match against Newcastle Jets on Saturday, 27 September.
Today’s announcement is the first squad announcement for Wilson’s side this season with details of the full squad to be released over the coming days.
Brisbane Roar kick off their Westfield W-League 2014/15 campaign away to Perth Glory on Sunday, 14 September before their first home match of the season on Sunday, 21 September against traditional rivals Sydney FC at Queensland Sports & Athletics Centre.

Both matches live streamed tomorrow v CCM - 3:45pm v Brisbane City - 6:30pm
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Hopefully we get a release date this week.
There's a rumoured exclusivity deal with Rebel, Amart and Brisbane's online store.
