It is perfectly *fine* to have a preference. A man can prefer a woman to be shaved, and most do. A woman can prefer a guy rugged and hairy, and most do. It is NOT OKAY to say someone is nasty for being what they are naturally.

I am a straight male, I also prefer smooth skin, I however don't request my partners shave if they don't want to and I always ask what they prefer wrt to themselves and me. I have shaved, plucked or waxed pretty much every part of my body at times either for partners or for myself (I am currently rocking one hairy leg and one leg shaved from the knee down due to strapping my completely fucked up ankle with plaster.)

I have no doubts you don't intend to be a douchebag, you post a lot and you carry yourself as a very reasonable guy in doing so, but you are being casually sexist and rather than rallying to defend yourself take a step back and look at what you said and think about how it would make you feel if you were a young girl struggling with societal perceptions of beauty.

I could make a reference to the Chinese binding feet for instance but you will say "HYGIENE" as if it is some shield to hide behind (after bouncing from your "FEMININITY" shield previously). Are your legs dirty? Are they gross? If yes, you have a health problem and need to address it.

On the whole shave etc thing, I don't care if a woman doesn't shave. I care about being tidy and clean and that's it. For myself, if I wasn't such a hairy bugger I would remove it - but to do so would cost way to much money to achieve and maintain so I go for being tidy myself haha - probably to much information, but I prefer to not give my partners any excuse ;)
