If that was to happen, what would happen to the players? Let's say the clubs with a bit of money (Croatia, Marconi, Bonnyrigg) get demoted to Super League, would that lead to Super League having better players than some of the poorer association-based Premier League clubs? Makes no sense.

This is rocks in the head stuff or to be polite sh#t for brains. Between this clubs can they put $500 bucks together, unless they rip it of the youth fees. Some of them have been financial disasters in the past. On the other hand can they get more than 300 people through the gates? I hope that financially stable clubs if push gets to shove get together and start their own competition, if this is FFA push they should worry about A league and make a success out of that, so far they have failed miserably just think of the Grand Final. If this is FNSW than they have a lot to answer to the NSW football public and should be voted out. I urge our NSW football community to start a petition against this lunacy as people in charge of our game have failed us on national and the state levels so far!

If this does go ahead what will happen to our traditional clubs? get pushed back to the SL? If so, what will happen to the SL teams? it will be a domino affect. How embarrasing would it be that the SL league will be stronger and more competitive than the "premier" NSW competition. Thing here is the FFA are trying to control all aspects of every competition from top to bottom. If this happens FNSW can burn in hell, that two with the association clubs and the FFA. Bring on a rebel league!
Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!

Fair enough Kolner. APIA will be right. Leichhardt Council(on 24/4) approved work to start on the ground in September 2012. As part of the 2.2 million dollar grant, Lambert Park will get a synthetic pitch amongst a number of improvements. APIA also have an excellent working relationship with the Canterbury Association as its only NSWPL representative. Rumours swilling around APIA for years. Edited by ralerasic: 26/4/2012 03:21:39 PM

ralerasic,
I think your getting confused with why associations are more involved with NSWPL sides nowdays.
It's not a push by FNSW to have associations running NSWPL sides. It's support by FNSW for associations to step in and take over ownership when privately run NSWPL sides go belly up or about to. Associations use income generated from player fees to keep afloat a pathway for their young players to the NSWPL tier. It is also a sneaky way for FNSW to increase player fees indirectly to support the top tier by way of associations increasing the fee's because they take ownership of a failing club.
All cloak and dagger stuff.
But privately owned sustainable NSWPL clubs will be there as long as they don't find themselves on the bottom of the club championship points table or going belly up financially. So get APIA and Rockdale etc to pull their fingers out and start winning a few games. I know it's only been 4 rounds but both sit dangerously low on the club championship table.
We can help reduce association player fees tax by sending assoc owned NSWPL clubs back to SL which costs a lot less to run a club at NSWPL level. IE: Parra and Sfartans. So by giving Parra and sfartans a flogging on the field we are helping reduce association players fees. A good cause !!!

Their role is to govern football at the amateur level, not to run semi-professional teams by charging higher registration fees for the social player and not providing adequate facilities or coaching for the academy player. Melita were taken by cloak and dagger in a supposed 'partnership'. Berries got their men voted into BDAFA and then decided to merge Canterbury Berries with Bankstown Association because BDAFA had a bad experience in the early 2000's running Bankstown City's youth league (they lost money through bad management).

Couldn't agree more. Granville association went from being in the black prior to taking over Parra FC then went into the red by 58k the first year. To compensate for this GDSFA raised player fees. So I agree associations should not be taking over NSWPL clubs as this puts a heavier burden on the already struggling association players to pay their fees. In my opinion any association that taxes players to pay for their folly into NSWPL should be punted. The money being taken from association players is from 99% + of players that will never reach this level. Plus the fact these same associations do not provide any training or higher football education to their associations clubs or players. It's merely a cash cow sucked from already struggling mums n dads so associations can wank their ego's. Either a NSWPL club owned by associations should stand on their own feet independantly of association players fees or simply move the club to SL where they can still provide a pathway for the kids but not at the expense of those who play the game for fun and a bit of fitness. It should be user pays in my opinion. Not a forced tax on those who cannot afford it. Edited by Aussiesrus: 27/4/2012 01:03:33 PM

Edited by Aussiesrus: 27/4/2012 01:03:33 PM THE BIGGEST GRIPE THAT FNSW AND ASSOCIATIONS have for that matter about pl clubs is the notion that they dont provide a pathway for their prmosing juniors and further, that youth players fees are being used to top up ailing pl outfits. with respect to the second point, which i do not believe occurs as much as it used to and further not at a number of clubs at all, id like to know what is the difference in any event between a situation where a pl club uses youth fees to some extent to cover its general costs, and an association based club using its revenue, largely derived from junior rego's, to fund a pl or sl outfit? nothing. so to those knockers of pl clubs out there and who are calling for assoc based clubs only, i ask you, how on earth is it more just and fair to be using junior funds than it is to use youth funds (which i again deny occurs at all clubs and not at mine)? the review should be looking at ways of having associations working alongside pl clubs, assoc backed or not; capping fees if feasible and that may involve assistance from the governing body to the clubs; ensuring the clubs are following and are in line with the national curriculum; and ways of reducing the impost on participating clubs in the pl who pay hefty admin and participation fees and yet get little in return. the notion that we would be better off by punting all of the non assoc clubs is ridiculous cause the only credible assoc backed clubs out there are manly and sutho and in the latter's case, it is aided significantly by a generous private benefactor and by having the largest junior nursery in the country!

Can someone explain to me why Rockdale's badge says Rockdale Ilinden Football Club, but they're always called Rockdale City Suns?

Rockdale v Bonnyrigg White Eagles 0:2 Good atmosphere for the opening of the stands, pitch looks good, reasonable turn out, unfortunately there has to be “but”:
Referee kept giving silly free kicks
Pitch to sandy two possible injuries due to playing surface
On the positive for BWE we got what we came for the 3 points. At times Rockdale looked like scoring, but never looked like they can get away with the win. This game was the least entertaining game BWE played, no disrespect to Rockdale, I blame the refereeing, two great goals, three points and did I mention 15 points ant top of the table GRRRRREAT GOING BONNYRIGG!!!!!

More then what Parramatta did in their first season last year. Fair result given both team's form at the moment. Not at all surprised at the draw. Quote:Any players that have stood out? Couple of Japanese imports have done quite well so far, notably for Blacktown and I think Bonnyrigg have one.

Blacktown City have been unbeaten so far in all 3 grades.
Spartans are complete rubbish park footballer scrappers. Wouldn't pay 2 cents to watch their games.
Bonnyrigg unbeaten in 5 games and certainly looking the goods. Will be most interesting to see Bonnyrigg V Blacktown City game to see if Bonnyrigg are the real McCoy this season.

I don't care what anybody tells me, Blacktown City have the best current youth structure in the country. Year after year they churn out quality. I've been told that this year they kept only two senior players from last year, Roodenberg and a defender, and the rest are from their lower grades. I remember when I watched them play early on last season and picked out Chianese as a promising player, among others in their team. And Association clubs want to come in and kill the structures that properly run semi-pro outfits like these clubs have implemented. On that note, I was informed today that all the club secretaries were invited to a meeting last weekend where only 3 clubs (I'm assuming Spartans, Manly and Sutherland) voted to reform the NSWPL to association based clubs only. Thankfully they were all put into their place by the other clubs. It is not happening.

Sutherland Sharks don't run the Sutherland Shire Football assoc. There is a bit of bad blood between the two. Talking with a few guys in the club and they don't seem to want the reform either.

Hypothetically speaking, if that rumoured reform were to happened, I wonder if Sutherland Association would have approached a different club to form their alliance with like Bankstown Association did with Canterbury Berries because of the bad blood with Bankstown City. If Canterbury Assoc' choose APIA as their club, perhaps Olympic will make a play for the Sutherland Assoc.

Pitch to sandy two possible injuries due to playing surface
:-k :-k The playing surface looked pristine, but when running on it appeared that the sand was dispersing everywhere, like the turf was just laid. BWE no 10 in 1st 10 min and Rockdale’s no 19 got hurt and subbed, to me looked like no harsh challenges but pitch related.
