Seen on twitter, (@christannerZSEM) "Chilean youth international and Melb. Heart target Jose Guerrero del Solar begins his transition to A-League by signing with VPL's Hume City"

20 years old, plays a forward/winger

only description i could find:

"The electric Chilean U16 international is now looking to further his football career outside of the South American continent. Del Solar has silky skills, and has speed and acceleration. He is strong on the ball and possesses great vision. He has made his senior debut amid rave reviews at age 17.

Sharing his youth football education between Chile and Australia has broadened his skill set, and he is now ready to take his career to another level, and has settled in Melbourne, Australia."

Behich had a stint at Hume City before coming over to Heart, so there might be a link between the two clubs. So he could be beginning 'his transition to the A-League', who really knows though.

I don't really know a thing about del Solar, he could be a good player or not. We'll see.

FORMER CHILEAN YOUTH STAR KICKS OFF AUSTRALIAN CAREER IN STYLE

After agreeing to terms with Victorian Premier League contenders Hume City this week, Jose Guerrero del Solar repaid the club with a goal and a penalty earned, in his first senior match in Australia as Hume beat Northcote 3-1 in a pre-season trial in Shepparton yesterday.

“It was a fantastic feeling to score for my new club” said the former Cobreloa junior “I have a lot of improving to do to adapt to the Australian style of football”

Guerrero del Solar has already caught the eye of Socceroo hero John Aloisi, the youth coach at Melbourne Heart, where he has been training since arriving from Chile. He is also on the radar of Brisbane Roar, Sydney FC and Gold Coast United.

“I just want to thank Louie (Acevski – Hume coach) and everyone at Hume for giving me this opportunity to start my Australian career” said Guerrero del Solar.

The young midfield flyer played a season for Knox City juniors before moving to Chile with his father. He developed under the strong Chilean system, making his senior debut at 17 with Cobreloa.

He has now returned to Australia and is based in Melbourne where he lives with his mother, believing that senior football in Australia will provide him with better pathways into Asia and Europe.

“It’s hard for young Chilean players to get opportunities overseas” he said. “Working with Heart and Hume has been a fantastic start to this stage of my career. I look forward to repaying everybody for the faith they have put in me”

This explains the link to Heart. Will be interesting to see how he goes, it could be possible he has Aus citizenship if he's lived here previously, might've even been born here?

Consider this pretty much a done deal to get a contract at Heart next season.

Cobreloa, recently, have had some nice players come out. Aránguiz has been a great DM for La U and has played games for the Chilean National Team. Beausejour came from Corbreloa, was at the 2010 WC and is playing in the EPL (for now, Wigan on the way down I think?). There are also names like Alexis Sanchez (Barca) and Edu Vargas (Napoli) that have come from the club.

I just find it a bit surprising that he'd make mention of a move to Europe being easier in Australia. Recent track records aren't that flash, in terms of the leagues that players head to. Certain that he'd be able to make more money in South America then he would here. But, that would happen after a move out of Chile, as he'd probably get something between 30-40k over there...and that would be "good" pay.

Im pretty sure they have no foreign spot. And he was linked to Sydney FC as well

Surprised to learn that he played against the Knights. Apparently he was pretty good.

We've used up our 5 visa spots. I'm guessing he has Australian residency, in the same way that Ali Abbas and Terry Mcflynn do, allowing for Sydney to have 6 internationals (according to that most reliable of sources: Wikipedia). Presumably Heart wouldn't play him in a preseason match if he couldn't be signed due to a technicality like that.

He was at training with the club last week. Given that Hirofumi Moriyasu will be out the door in the next 7-12 days, that'll leave us with 2 positions left in our 23 man roster, including 1 foreign spot.

Now, it's highly likely that we're going to leave 1 spot open so if need be we can fill it for depth in January, but it's also been heavily rumoured that Trent McLenenhan will be signing with the club in the coming days. He's been spotted at training, and is also sporting a #9 jersey.

WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

Don't know the guy - so this is speculation at best, however I have read that he spent some years here growing up, moved back to Chile and is now back here. It is very likely he has AU residency or citizenship and would not be a visa player, but again I don't know.

I hope we sign this guy - he'd add another very capable option up front.

edit: i'll add in articles he is referred to as 'Chilean-Australian'. In another it states he played (at least) one season with Knox City. He moved to Chile with his father, returned to live with his mother - suggesting she may have AU citizenship and as her son - there is likely PR associated.

john didulica was asked on twitter the other day whether Del Solar held australian citizenship/residency and his reply was:

From his time in the youth team for Cobreloa.

If he doesn't take up a visa spot, wouldn't mind him at the Victory. I only say this as he was with Cobreloa, a club that has brought through some very good Chilean youth. Never seen him play, might try and catch a Hume match to have a look. Might not be until they go up against Southern Stars in September

This was back in May...but might be why he didn't want to comment?

CHILEAN YOUTH INTERNATIONAL FINALLY GAINS RELEASE TO CONTINUE AUSTRALIAN CAREER CHAPTER

After making his debut for Hume City in the Victorian Premier League, exciting Chilean youth international José Guerrero (del Solar) has been cleared to continue his career in Australia.

After not hearing from the Chilean authorities regarding Guerrero’s clearance in the required 30 days, Football Federation
Australia rightfully granted the young winger a provisional clearance to play. However, the player’s Australian sojourn was cut short when his former club, CD Cobreloa decided that they wanted to protect what they called “their economic rights” to the player.

Guerrero’s representatives Zenith SEM, continually reminded the Chileans that the FIFA system protects their rights and it wasn’t their role to obstruct young players from advancing their careers.

“It was a frustrating process, with many late nights and Spanish lessons” said Zenith’s Tony Belica. “José is a great kid who has already caught the eye of A-League clubs and other clubs in Asia. All they were achieving was taking him out of the shop window, and threatening any future returns that they might be entitled for training compensation” he added.

Guerrero started his football with Knox City Under 11s, and followed his father to Chile where he received his football education and made his senior debut at age 16. Now 19, and living with his mother back in Melbourne, he was snapped up by former NSL star Louie Acevski, coach at Hume City. He has also been training at Melbourne Heart under the watchful eye of John Aloisi during the last NYL season.

“I love being back in Australia and I am looking forward, if lucky enough, to playing professional football here. I must thank Mr. Radinovic at FFA, and the guys at Zenith for pushing my rights as a player”

I agree with John here, in that it isn't really appropriate as 'personally' its none of anyones business, especially if he isn't signed by the club. Things like visas are a private thing IMO, however it becomes public due to its application in football and the quotas/limitations on it. Would be best to ask the guy himself, however if we signed him - then i'd be sure that the club would disclose this information.

Wouldn't need to. You'd know his status, simply by the club signing him...as there are no visa spots left on Heart's roster.

I ask this out of ignorance as I honestly have no idea if its a grey area, however could the club sign him for the youth team, or to hold him until he obtains citizenship/permanent residency? As long as he does not take to the field, would it be an option?

Regretting the signing of Grey - a pointless signing as there are other CB's who could play that position and it would free up that visa spot.
