Lorik Cana is a great player, tough as nails, would go great in the EPL methinks. Love his nickname in France, "Le Destructeur". Quote:I thought I read Cana to Celtic too.  WHEEERE Would love this to happen. Edited by Funky Munky: 24/7/2009 12:14:12 AM

Apparently Chamakh wants desperately to go to the EPL, but his club have said the deal must be done by a certain date if he's going to go. He'd rather go to Arsenal (I'm a Sunderland fan and I'D rather go to Arsenal), but they aren't prepared to match our offer. I suspect he'll stall until closer to the club's deadline hoping that a more fashionable club comes in for him ('Arry Redknapp will be along in a minute).
As an aside, Spurs fans seem to think Bent will sign for Sunderland in the next 48 hours. I've heard nowt definite about it this summer but we chased pretty hard for him last season.

Sunderland look the goods this season, those signings will reinforce that very much so. Looks to me like they are looking long term to be the best in the north of England.
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Already the best in the north-east on account of the Mags and Boro getting relegated. Best in the north? I think it'll take us a while to catch Everton, let alone Man City, Liverpool and Man Utd.

My geography failed me there. I meant to say that they are planning long term to be the best out of Newcastle, Boro and Sunderland. (Which tbh isn't that hard) I was under the impresion that those 3 clubs were the furthest north? Edited by marconi101: 24/7/2009 12:16:09 PM

I was under the impresion that those 3 clubs were the furthest north? They are the furtherst north, but they are also considered to be the North East. Liverpool, ManUtd, Shitty and Everton(okay, okay...Blackburn can join the party too) are all considered North East. Just saying North takes all these clubs into account.

Its funny how many times people get caught out on here with their English geography. Its always Benjamin correcting people.

I'd be quite happy if we got Huntelaar and Cana tbh. Rather Huntelaar over Chamakh.

He wouldn't be the absolute worst acquisition, but I personally can't see it happening.

W....T....F??? I've heard absolutely nothing about Sunderland being interested. If he came he'd be the first player I can remember playing for all three north-east clubs.

I'd hate to see Vieira in a Tottenham shirt. There was also a story about him enquiring about Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid. That's just ridiculous, just another reason for all the Tit's to get all hyped up only for yet another season of mediocrity. Surely he doesn't think Diarra would leave a starting gig at Madrid for a mid table Premiership team?

He made Diarra at Pompey. Theres no guarantee he'll even make the bench at Real. Lass has always had intentions of playing for the biggest clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real, and now that hes at one, AFTER starring at Pompey, I think he'd like to stay. However I wouldnt rule out this move completely.

Diarra was the main reason behind Madrid's improvement in form in the second half of last season. He fills the role that has been lacking since the loss of Makelele. Pellegrino would have to be hitting the crack pipe hard if he sells Diarra, can't see Kaka, Ronaldo or Robben doing any of the dirty work in midfield.

Diarra is an excellent player, they'd be stupid to sell him.

Holy shit. You got Cana. Le destructeor. FANTASTIC signing. He suits the english game perfectly. He is going to dominate. If you get Chamakh too (which I think you will) then, along with the other signings, your looking good for top 10.
But of course, we have all seen when a squads potential isnt realised. Cant get ahead of ourselves

Still need a left winger, or to convince Kieran Richardson to play on the left. If he's going to play on the left then we need another central midfielder. That said, I'm feeling optimistic that we'll not be scraping around desperately for 3 more points come May next year!
