Habib Beye to Aston Villa. Rejected Hull because he doesn't fancy two relegations in a row. That's Owen, Beye, Bassong and Edgar all back in the EPL following the Mags relegation, and let's not forget Martins to the champions of Germany - and Viduka to Pompey to follow.

Rumour around Sunderland is that Liverpool are about to sign Teemu Taino for around 4 million. Class player if he can stay fit for more than 2 games at a time. Haven't heard anything from my 'source' inside the club though so may well be bullpoop.

Lee Cattermole, all signed up (all over the net, so no scoop this time). 6 mill rising to 10 mill based on appearances.
Not sure about our wide positions, but we're going to be scary through the middle this season - Ferdinand/Da Silva at the back, Cana/Cattermole in midfield, Jones/Bent up front.

You win...im convinced...Sunderland should stay up this season and very comfortably so. Its really good to see all the Championship dead wood you guys have carried on(some as far as the last time you were relegated) punted and some quality players come in. Europa League doesnt look so absurd any more(which is salt into the Geordies wound, im sure).

Wheres the creativity going to come from both cana and cattermole are holding players and cana at least has a limited passing range. With these players you seem like a difficult to beat team, but without more creative talent i dont see you getting into europa league.

Kieron Richardson and Steed Malbranque are likely to play in more advance midfield positions, there's a fair bit of creativity there. Not sure about either of them as 'wide' men, but I suspect we'll be playing a fairly narrow game this season. Allow me a brief JimSmith moment... ..........................Gordon.......................... Bardsley........Ferdinand...........Da Silva.....McCartney ................Cattermole.............Cana............... ........Malbranque......................Richardson........ ...................Bent..........Jones.................... Add subs: Fulop, Nosworthy, Collins, Tainio, Leadfoot, Reid, Edwards, Healy and Campbell. There's also a good youngster by the name of Jordan Henderson who'll come through into the first team this season - attacking midfielder who can play out wide or through the middle. Very excited about him. Now, if Luca$h signs on at right-back (doubtful from latest reports), that looks like a pretty useful team.

If McCartney can stay fit he's a decent enough player - the back up at leftback, Danny Collins, has actually won our player-of-the-season award the last 2 years (possibly due to a lack of competition). Right back - definately agree, Bardo is a good, hard working lad, but he lacks quality and really needs to be at the top of his game... Hense the interest in giving Luca$h $120k/week to play there!!
Our lack of depth is a worry though.

Not finding this anywhere else, but Benfica's official site has this little page up: http://www.slbenfica.pt/Informacao/Futebol/Noticias/CompraRedPass.asp?Adepto=nicklas%20bendtnerRough babel fish translation says that Bendtner has signed a contract, and they are ready to make a presentation at their next home game. But like I said, there's nothing about it on Sky.

Taylor wont be able to fill the hole left by Lescott...
Richard Dunne is nothing but strong IMO, he makes a lot of errors, and he lacks pace - but he would be a good leader for Aston Villa...
Duff had a decent season and he will fit in well at Fulham, he is the type of player 'cash strapped clubs' like liverpool at the momment should go for
Sunderlands new owners are going to turn them into a force eventually, signing quality players like lorik cana, darren bent and even lucas neill soon would surely give them a chance at qualifying for europe (europe league)
