To be fair, that one was in response to the same cartoonist that did the Abbott one doing a cartoon of a dingo Howard mounting a dingo Downer. After Australia (including Rudd) expressed their displeasure they were told that they should be able totake a joke and that there was "no offense intended".

Personally, I think it's childish and unnecessary, but is fuelled on by the reactions they garner. People should be able to take a joke, but at the same time they should also be able to read a newspaper without seeing a cartoon of themselves walking on the front page.

It's interesting to see how "offended" some Australians are by this cartoon, but were absolutely fine with insinuating that Gillard was a lesbian, a home wrecker and a bitch.
