What I don't want to see is another Labor party circus in another spill. Abbott is head-desk worthy but I would rather he stay in power for the time he was elected for than to go down to Labors level of infighting.

In other news, though Julia Gillard was the first female Prime Minister, I wonder if feminist groups will look on the first elected female Prime Minister with more importance

So what was Julia Gillard then?

I think the point he's making is Gillard became PM after forming a minority government with Windsor, Oakeshott etc. Technically the constituency didn't elect a government that day.

and the feminists don't care because she has a penis

Yep this is what i'm saying.

Obviously people who vote in an election are actually voting for their representative in their local electorate, and the leader of the party with the most electorates represented becomes Prime Minister, however it still feels like a cheap win when her party wasn't even a majority.

Feminists also don't have a great grasp on how things work either, so it's probably an apt question in the long run.

Gillard retained her seat on election day. Her party, however, was not re-elected to government that day. They did, however, remain a caretaker government until such time that they formed a minority government with the independents. It seems pretty clear from this that Gillard was not elected PM by the electorate. Explain exactly what it is I don't understand?

"that day" is a meaningless semantic. The constituency elected the parliament which formed the government.

Gillard was selected by a majority of elected representatives to be the Prime Minister after a federal election by gathering the confidence of the majority of her peers. All Prime Ministers are elected the same way in our system.

She was the first elected Prime Minister, to say she wasn't is as stupid as the morons who were saying something like "Abbott will never be MY Prime Minister".

Weird, it's a lot worse now than it ever was with the ALP. I thought that the LNP were going to fix everything? Now they can't even release reports that they are legally obliged to release.
