It's not about the leader, it's about the government and policies. Changing the leader won't solve anything, we will still have massive deficit and debt that needs to be reduced through cuts to incomes and services. Bishop and Turnbull are more palatable but there is concern they are too soft to make difficult, unpopular decisions. The good thing about Abbott is he's prepared to sacrifice hisself to the wolves to do the right thing by the country, but his messaging and selling of the budget in general has been very poor.

Tony the messiah, self-sacrificing himself for the greater good

No, he's just a bumbling twat.

He's not that bad. He's a pretty smart guy, Oxford grad and all that.

Ahh yes, the old Rhodes Scholar line

-PB

That's the one

Was a solid C grade student while he was there. Not really much to write home about.

Having been there I can confirm that there are plenty of people of Tony Abbott level intelligence in Oxford. Money talks, I guess.

Yeah I spent six hours in Oxford once too I'm also an expert on the intelligence levels of Oxford graduates

Greens complaining about Abbott point. Then again, the greens complain about everything energy related. I went to a gas well in central QLD a couple of days ago and the water wouldn't catch fire. So disappointed.

http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/mar/12/fiona-patten-why-she-wants-to-find-a-new-name-for-the-australian-sex-party

Quote:
Fiona Patten: why she wants to find a new name for the Australian Sex party
The party’s leader and first MP talks about widening its base, her push for voluntary euthanasia, drug law reform and online freedom, and the schism within feminism over porn, prostitution and Fifty Shades of Grey

Fiona Patten is awesome. Love this in particular:
Fiona Patten wrote:
“I’m definitely a feminist. I don’t have a problem if [academic] Sheila Jeffreys or [commentator] Melinda Tankard Reist don’t want to watch porn and think that any image of sex or sexuality of a female is objectification. I don’t agree with them but if they don’t want to look at it, fine. I do think that they’re taking a very nanny state approach to this. My personal and professional position is that censorship is never the answer to sexism.”

People will respond to your posts on merit. You've shown your cards as a troll though so anything inflammatory should be treated that way.

I said I studied there? I worked in a video production company there for the better part of a year, and as you might guess 90% of the clientele were University related. Sometimes I met some very interesting and intelligent people, sometimes it felt like adult daycare for priveleged Tories. Got out when the GFC hit.

A third party implies, you inferred. Don't need to go to Oxford for that one.

And look, the person in question aside, a scholarship to a prestigious university is not a measure of intelligence. It's all about who you know, not what you know. A sign of privilege, not profound intellect. On top of that, a 2:2 is considered very mediocre by Oxford standards.

I'm pretty certain it's completely appropriate to use 'inferred' in this context, but I see you couldn't resist opportunity to be a grammar nazi. And your musings about prestigious universities sounds rather envious and paranoid, typical of someone who perhaps didn't go to a prestigious university. Finally TA achieved a respectable second class degree, not a 2:2. He's clearly no genius, but he is far from the idiot many like to portray him as.
