Disappointing to see the safe schools project heavily revised.
What it means is that parents have to give consent. So the worst offenders will be able to avoid education on diversity issues and continue to live in a world where gay people are revolting and need to be cured.
Shame on the government.

Shame on the government. I am somewhat surprised at the power of the conservative faction within the Libs after Abbott's downfall. Its not like there is a conservative alternative to install if they knifed Turnbull. They know the public won't accept Abbott again, so what is their option? I think Turnbull is far too timid. Shame on the government. I honestly could not see the issue with the Safe Schools program. There seemed to be a lot of hearsay but if you visit the webpage etc. it all looked like a very positive and encouraging program. I really couldn't honestly see their issues ... is it just that I am not wired that way??

Shame on the government. It may of been a totally different reason but I know how being bullied at school feels - it bring back all the hurt and feeling of failure knowing school kids are free to be bullied now. I hope people don't forget when the election comes along as it is proven nothing has changed since Abbott left

I'm sure you can find a peer reviewed paper that looks at other factors which effect the choices of swinging voters such as the weather.

Problem was we had the Murdoch papers peddling this notion that Aust was in a financial crisis when we were part of only three countries that made a profit during the GFC (Denmark Was one I think, can't remember the other one )
And used to whole Gillard,Rudd thing to Liberals advantage

And used to whole Gillard,Rudd thing to Liberals advantage Tabloid headlines & simplism go hand in hand The Libs are lucky to have the Murdoch empire and their 70% printed media ownership as their free mouthpiece and that isn't going to change Despite the lie of the Libs 'being better economic managers' being smashed by skyrocketing debt under their watch, Murdoch will always suppress this fact and even continue the catch cry of "it's all Labor's fault" The question is whether swinging voters are informed enough to see through this lie, considering that (unfortunately) this is what typically matters most to them. I highly doubt it.

I highly doubt it. The Libs are generally better economic managers because they traditionally advocate for a smaller government, reduced government expenditure and reduced taxes. This would mean that the areas in most need of government spending would receive funding but areas not in absolute need of the spending would not. Some might call this an efficient allocation of resource. Socialist feel this is inefficient because they have little faith in an individuals personal responsibility.

We had to vote for a new Major on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
It constantly amuses me how offended people get when you say no to them giving you all sorts of pamphlets and what not. I hate voting. I hate even more having old people try and block me from walking to the voting building so that they can peddle their bullshit. The Greens are by far the worst. Just about smacked some hipster kid with a top knot trying to tell me how we need to cease all development on the Coast

But in the aggregate "the wisdom of the crowd" is actually pretty good. Being better informed sometimes just means "more set in your views". I prefer our system of compulsory voting, where every opinion counts, and there are a pool of voters who can be persuaded. The alternative is personified in the US - low interest, low turnout, which means the most fanatic have outsized influence. The views of the young, and minorities are generally under-represented as they are the most disenfranchised, and least likely to vote.
