Quote:Australian of the Year and former Army chief David Morrison says the term "guys" should no longer be used in workplaces. The retired Lieutenant General is today launching a new Diversity Council Australia video which aims to crack down on language which excludes minority groups. "Exclusive language, gender-based language or inappropriate language, has as much a deleterious or disadvantaged effect as something where you're saying something blatantly inappropriate to another human being," General Morrison told ABC News Breakfast. Sounds ridiculous but there you go, no need for a separate thread.

Wow, was this guy really an army chief? I think we are in big trouble. I noticed today Mona Shindy, the Muslim naval captain, won the 2015 Telstra Business Woman of the Year. How the fuck does a government employee take out a business award? Then you have Rosie Batty and Adam Goodes winning AOTY, it's obvious Marxists are taking over PR departments in all sectors of society.

Good news fellow lefties! I have found out that Newspoll cannot be relied upon for polling, as its methods changed mid-2015, so hasn't been tested at an election. The most reliable poll is now ReachTel, which gives Labor a lead 52-48 https://www.reachtel.com.au/blog/7-news-national-poll-26may2016

I wouldnt put too much faith in betting odds - they had SA LNP @ $1.05 the day before they lost. I reckon we will get a minority LNP Gov but who the hell knows.

Yeah I think they'll still win but this is probably why the odds are like they are. Not many people actually believe Labor will win even if they're planning to vote Labor themselves.

The key thing is to see how the polls move. It went from 51-49 to 52-48. If that holds the ALP becomes much likelier to win. But it may just be noise as there have been polls since then going back to 51-49.

But it may just be noise as there have been polls since then going back to 51-49. I'm particularly interested in the Fairfax Ipsos Poll, as its the only one finding the Libs leading (on 51-49). I think the next one is due out this weekend??? If it moves to 50-50, I think that solidifies the general long term polling shift to a Labor lead. The Poll Bludger meta-analysis shows Labor leading & that's pretty much the best indicator you can get. The lead is not enough for an election win though. If Poll Bludger hits 51-49, my money is on Labor.

Pyne and Briggs in real trouble to NXT candidates in SA. If Labor & Greens preference NXT, it's bye, bye, bye!   Quote:SKIRMISHES over stolen corflute posters in Burnside and the Adelaide Hills are taking on a new significance in the battle to decide who will be Prime Minister next month. As candidates complain about the alleged theft of election material, a new poll shows that former minster Jamie Briggs’ grip on his Adelaide Hills-based seat of Mayo remains shaky. Industry Minister Christopher Pyne has also revealed he remains concerned about the possibility of being ousted from his seat of Sturt and Labor leader Bill Shorten winning the keys to the Lodge. A ReachTEL opinion poll for the left-wing activist group Getup! found just under 40 per cent of Mayo voters intended to vote for Mr Briggs. Nick Xenophon Team candidate Rebekha Sharkie was second with 23.5 per cent support, 18 per cent of voters backed Labor’s Glenn Dallimore and the Greens had 10 per cent support. In Sturt, Mr Pyne had 41 per cent support, NXT’s Matthew Wright 21 per cent, Labor’s Matt Loader 20 per cent and the Greens 8 per cent. Mr Pyne on Thursday said the poll showed his re-election as MP for Sturt was not guaranteed. “What this shows is that there is a real chance that Xenophon preferences could result in Bill Shorten becoming prime minister and Labor winning Sturt,’’ he said. “This election is a choice between whether you want Malcolm Turnbull to remain prime minister and continue to deliver jobs and growth or whether we go back to the chaos and instability under Labor and Bill Shorten.” Mr Briggs said he remained focused on local social infrastructure projects in Mayo and on supporting Liberal policies designed to create jobs in South Australia and throughout the nation. “A vote for me will ensure Malcolm Turnbull will be Prime Minister. A vote for anyone else is a vote for Bill Shorten to be Prime Minister,’’ he said. Getup! has Mr Briggs in its sights as part of a campaign it is running against several high-profile Liberal MPs. It plans a telephone blitz of voters in Mayo in addition to handing out how-to-votes on election day. The group’s focus is on health, education and renewable energy, “We’ll be backing the parties that stack up on those issues,’’ Getup! director Paul Oosting said. ReachTEL conducted a survey of 681 Mayo residents on May 16th and another of 762 Sturt residents on May 22. Mr Briggs’ NXT rival Rebekha Sharkie has complained about her election posters being swiped. Mr Pyne yesterday took to Twitter to claim that NXT helpers had been spotted removing his posters to replace them with their own advertisements NXT founder Nick Xenophon said he condemned all unlawful “poster pinching’’. Senator Xenophon criticised Liberal MPs for suggesting that voters should preference Labor ahead of NXT candidates. “We represent the political centre,’’ he said. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/subscribe/news/1/index.html?sourceCode=DTWEB_MRE170_a&mode=premium&dest=http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/federal-election/new-polls-show-jamie-briggs-and-christopher-pyne-in-real-battle-to-hold-their-seats-from-xenophon-challengers/news-story/8d063cc0456f3b8f1415cb9f5ae13f99&memtype=anonymous

I'm a Labor Party voter I live in Sturt and I hate Pyne with a passion
I can't decide if I should vote for Warrior Princess even if I'm not a fan just as the surer bet to finally oust Pyne
Conflicted....

I used to hate Pyne with a passion but the smug looking, whiny, grinning fucker has grown on me.
I love how he doesn't seem to give a shit who he's insulting or cutting down to size. (And how he switches between the nicest bloke in the world to the pettiest man alive in an instant.)
On Q and A he's particularly good. Equal parts honey and vinegar and infuriating all and sundry.
I don't know what it is but I've come to admire him. (Still wouldn't vote for the prick though.)

Conflicted.... If the Libs don't get preferenced last, Pyne wins. That's not necessarily true, he just needs to be preferenced behind whoever the competing candidate is. I don't find the NXT policies offensive apart from their Asylum Seeker policy which our local Sturt candidate (as a doctor) has a real issue. You can hear from our local candidate here https://radio.adelaide.edu.au/time-for-a-change/I'm a little wary because of what happened in SA when he brought in a crazy like Bressington but the difference this time is that they're properly operating as a party rather than a group of independents. In summary, I think it's worth the risk to get rid of Pyne o:)

Labor now leading or equal on every single poll, with the Ipsos Fairfax poll the last to fall from the Libs Election now too close to call Several specific marginal seat polls showing Libs are NOT doing well in marginal seats Poll Bludger has Labor at 50.3% TPP, with Libs only holding majority government by 1 solitary seat Remember now is the time an election is normally called, so you could argue that swinging voters aren't seriously engaged for another 2 weeks The drift away from the major parties to undecided & independent primary votes, means these TPP polls will be the most inaccurate in history.
