As much as I love Eduardo I just don't think he'll ever be the same player as he was before the injury, well in the EPL at least, he'd do well in a less physical league imo.

I'd rather Cole over Eduardo on that left wing just because Cole is actually a left winger.

Yea, thats what i thought. Eduardo has been a shadow of the player he was. It's really sad.

Cole would be a great acquisition

Yeah him and Adebayor are much the same imo. Demand a shitload of money and then get upset if they don't start. Mind you Tevez warrants a start after last season so it looks like if they get a big name striker(like Dzeko) and he starts it'll be Adebayor riding the pine and just watch the shit hit the fan once he starts a consistent run of sub performances:lol:

Wigan sign keeper Ali Al Habsi on loan

Al Habsi will provide competition and cover for Chris Kirkland

Wigan Athletic have signed Oman international keeper Ali Al Habsi on a season-long loan from Bolton.

Al Habsi had limited opportunities at the Reebok Stadium but did impress when handed a run in the side which competed in the Uefa Cup in the 2007/08 season.

And Latics boss Roberto Martinez is convinced the 28-year-old can challenge established number one Chris Kirkland.

"We need competition in all departments and Ali will do that. We are delighted to welcome him," said Martinez.

"He has a terrific attitude to the game and after four years in England knows all about the Premier League."

The Muscat-born keeper first made his name in Europe at Lyn Oslo in Norway, and has appeared 70 times for his country.

Wigan, who released keepers Richard Kingson and Vladimir Stojkovic over the summer, open their Premier League campaign at home to promoted side Blackpool on 14 August.

Fantastic bit of business for Wigan imo. This guy would have to be the most underrated keeper in the league.

Disagree on Barry and Lescott. In any case, they have De Jong and Richards to back up respectively.

Lescott was absolutely woeful last season, and that's when he wasn't injured. They still don't have enough depth to their squad tbh. The only place they have really good depth is upfront.

Look at the defence. In the middle you've got Toure, Lesscott, Onohua and Boateng and Richards can play there, but then if you play either of them at CB you've got Bridge and Zabaleta as back up. The first choice defenders may be class, but the back ups are second rate.

They are going to have a seriously good team.

--------Tevez---Adebayor--------
Silva----Barry----Toure----SWP
Boateng---Toure---Lescott---Richards
--------------Given--------------

Something like that? Ireland, Bellamy, Santa, Johnson, Onuoha, Bridge, Zabaleta on the bench...

Ronaldinho set for return home
Report claims Milan star has agreed to Flamengo move

Brazilian media have reported that Ronaldinho has agreed to leave AC Milan and return home with Flamengo.

The GloboEsporte.com website claimed on Tuesday that the Brazilian star has verbally accepted an offer to join Flamengo and is waiting for authorization from Milan to complete the deal.

The six-time Brazilian champions are currently in talks with the Italian giants to secure his release as the 30-year-old still has a year left on the three-year contract he signed with Milan when joining from Barcelona in July 2008.
Meeting confirmed

Flamengo president Patricia Amorim has confirmed she met with the former Paris St Germain and Gremio forward in the past few days but no official details have been released.

A two-time Fifa player of the year, Ronaldinho scored 12 goals in 34 Serie A starts for Milan last season but missed out on a place in Brazil's final World Cup squad.

The Porto Alegre-born star is currently spending his summer break in Rio de Janeiro, where Flamengo are based.

Ronaldinho helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup and has scored 32 goals in 87 international appearances.

He also won two La Liga titles and the Champions League in his five years at Barcelona.

Hull seal James Harper and Nolberto Solano deals

Hull City have completed the signings of midfielders James Harper and Nolberto Solano.

Harper, 29, has signed a two-year contract at the KC Stadium having been released by Sheffield United.

Leicester veteran Solano, 35, who has already announced his intention to retire at the end of the coming season, has agreed a one-year deal.

"We're happy to have got two quality players in," said head of football operations Adam Pearson.

He continued to BBC Radio Humberside: "We've got both players on really good, tight deals.

"Nobby [Solano] will be on a year and James on two years on wages that don't dent the finances too much."

Former Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham winger Solano played under Hull boss Nigel Pearson at Leicester.

The Peru international originally agreed a new six-month deal with the Foxes in May but has now opted to follow Pearson to the KC Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have said that Algeria international forward Kamel Ghilas could join a Turkish club on loan.

Hull have also appointed Mark McGuire as their new chief executive. McGuire has been with Stockport County for the last three years and will look after the administration and business side of the club.

That was my first thought when I read the story. Doesn't make sense then why Wenger would chance Schwarzer so hard. In the end I'd probably rather Frey as he's younger but I'd be happy either way. With Almunia leaving at least we know we are getting a new keeper:lol:

Boruc set for Viola switch

Fiorentina have agreed a deal to sign Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc subject to a medical.

The 30-year-old Poland international is set to make the switch to Italy after five years with the Hoops, where he has made more than 200 appearances for the club after arriving from Legia Warsaw.

Boruc had one year remaining on his contract at Parkhead but the Glasgow outfit have opted to sell the shot-stopper rather than risk losing him for free next summer.

A statement on Fiorentina's official website said: "FC Fiorentina announces that it has reached agreement with Glasgow Celtic for the acquisition of Artur Boruc.

"The negotiations will be completed after the results of the medical."

The deal continued a busy Monday in the transfer market for Celtic, as former Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley finalised his move earlier in the day.

However, Jimmy Bullard's proposed loan to the club from Hull City has fallen through.

The expected departure of Boruc leaves compatriot Lukasz Zaluska as manager Neil Lennon's first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic.

Bayern rule out Coentrao move

Bayern Munich have dropped their interest in Portugal international Fabio Coentrao after being put off by Benfica's 'exorbitant demands'.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted that the talented young wing-back was a player they were monitoring, but that the Portuguese outfit's reported 30million euros (£25.2m) asking price had left the deal dead in the water.

Coentrao, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea should Ashley Cole be tempted by a switch to Real Madrid, has attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe.

The 22-year-old started his career as an orthodox winger but was handed his chance in the Benfica first XI at left-back by Jorge Jesus and started all four of Portugal's World Cup matches in that position this summer.

Rummenigge also insisted that the German champions would not be making a move for Brazil international Michel Bastos, although manager Louis van Gaal will continue to scour the transfer market for possible new additions.

"Coentrao is a great player, but we are not even close to paying Benfica SL the money they are looking for. They've got exorbitant demands, this deal is off," Rummenigge told BILD.
Keep looking

"Michel Bastos is also no transfer possibility. He has been bought by Olympique Lyonnais for £15million last year.

"I have spoken to Louis van Gaal, we are going to keep looking for the right player.

"Should we find the right player, then it's fine. If we do not find the right player, Louis has no trouble playing Diego Contento (at left-back) at the start of the new season."

Meanwhile, tough-tackling Holland international midfielder Mark van Bommel has urged Bayern to bring in international team-mate Gregory van der Wiel from Ajax.

Van der Wiel played at right-back during the Netherlands' run to the World Cup final where they were beaten 1-0 by Spain after extra-time on Sunday evening.

Van Bommel told El Mundo Deportivo: "I would be looking to sign Van der Wiel. He is a real engine. He is going to become the best full-back in the game in the next two years."

Palermo make Lucas Leiva bid

Palermo have made an offer to Premier League outfit Liverpool for the services of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, the club have admitted.

Palermo's sporting director Walter Sabatini has revealed that the Sicilians have made an offer for the 23-year-old.

“We have made an initial offer to the English club,” Sabatini told Tgs Sport. “However, I can deny claims that we have offered £5 million as reported by some media. We have offered much less than that…”

Lucas was signed by Liverpool from Gremio in 2007 but has yet to fully win over the Anfield faithful.
